The doctor noticed that Xie Yuansheng could take more of his questions and so he goaded him. "Can you see the house from inside?"
"Yes, I can…" he replied.
"What do you see?" asked the doctor.
In his mind, Xie Yuansheng followed the little boy inside and his mother. When they reached in, he saw another very young and beautiful woman coming out. "Cai Xin, look at these two again. Both Xie Yuansheng and Yini have played and dirtied themselves in the mud. What do we do to them?"
Cai Xin laughed and replied, "Let us marry the two of them now so that they keep cleaning each other and we two will be saved from cleaning them every other day."
The little boy in his mother's lap clapped his hands and said, "Yes, I will marry Yini. She is very small and I will take care of her."
The two mothers laughed. Suddenly, Yini ran to her mother and said, "I don't want to marry Shengu."
Xie Yuansheng was shocked to hear his name from Yini. He stared at the baby for a long time without realizing that tears had started running from his eyes on the outside. The little girl was just like he saw in his dreams. She knew him and called him Shengu.
"Is the little boy in his mother's lap, you?" asked the doctor.
Xie Yuansheng said, "Yes that is me…" through his tears.
The doctor was afraid that if he would continue, Xie Yuansheng might get a headache. So he brought Xie Yuansheng back to the present in the next five minutes.
When Xie Yuansheng woke up, he found tears in his eyes. The doctor asked him, "Why did you cry Shengu?"
"Yini used to call me Shengu. Her mother said that I should marry Yini but Yini didn't want to marry me," replied Xie Yuansheng. "I don't know but I think my heart goes out for Yini."
"Did you see Yini's mother too?" asked the doctor again noting down every detail in his notepad.
"Yes, I saw her. He name was Cai Xin," replied Xie Yuansheng. He looked at Feng Xinying who was standing sitting on a chair with fists closed so tightly that her knuckles were white. He noticed that Feng Xinying resembled Cai Xin so much. Although Cai Xin was more beautiful, perhaps ten times more beautiful than her.
The doctor noted down all the details and said, "I think we are making excellent progress Shengu. We should continue this after a week. Is that okay with you?"
Xie Yuansheng nodded. Even though he was skeptical about hypnosis, he felt that things were getting clearer and he now looked forward to embrace his past.
Feng Xinying on the other hand was fighting with her emotions. She didn't remember that when she was a little child, she used to call him 'Shengu'. So that is why she blurted that name for him when she was drunk. Xie Yuansheng would often tease her saying that she had to remember what she called him when she was younger and she would never recall. She fought back her tears. The man in front of her loved her so deeply right from when she was a three year old kid and he was only four.
The two of them took leave from the doctor after fixing the appointment and drove back home. Throughout the way back, Feng Xinying held Xie Yuansheng's hand. When they reached home, she couldn't hold back her tears.
Xie Yuansheng was perplexed and asked her, "Why are you crying Feng Xinying?"
"I wish I was Yini," she replied as she looked at him with a smile. "You love Yini so much. When you will find her, would you forget me?"
Xie Yuansheng stared at her. He held her hand and walked to her bedroom. In the bedroom he made her sit on the bed and then sat down in front of her on the carpet. He kept his head in her lap and said, "Don't ever talk about forgetting you. I don't know why but you complete me. My life would be useless without you. Please never say that again. Even if I find Yini, I think I will have to explain to her that I have fallen in love with a woman who I can never separate from."
Feng Xinying stroked his hair wondering if she should show him her childhood photographs.
Xie Yuansheng looked up at her and continued, "Looking at you, I have to say that you resemble Cai Xin a lot."
Feng Xinying laughed. "Do I?"
"Hmm… but she was ten times more beautiful than you!" he teased.
Feng Xinying didn't feel jealous. After all Cai Xin was her mother. She only laughed at him.
Xie Yuansheng looked at her laughing away and felt happy. He rested his head on her lap again. "What bliss?" he thought.
"How about we spend our day out tomorrow?" asked Feng Xinying. "I know of a beautiful place which will bring a smile to your face." She traced his lips and his square jawline.
"Where?" he asked intrigued.
"It is going to be a surprise," she replied with a hint of mystery in her eyes, which added to his interest.
"Okay!"
She smiled and then said that she had some work at the office. After having lunch Feng Xinying left for the office while Xie Yuansheng stayed back and thought what all should he make for dinner. On her way to the office, she called her doctor.
That night, Xie Yuansheng sneaked in Feng Xinying's room once he was satisfied that all the servants were sleeping and none of them watched him from entering her room. He saw that she was reading a book. He took the book from her hand even though she protested slightly because she was on an interesting arc and then switched off the bedroom light. Covering her with a blanket, he slipped beneath it and spooned her. He kissed her hair and said, "I love you…" Within a few minutes Feng Xinying slept.
Next day Feng Xinying asked him to get dressed for an outing. She had to take him to places they had visited previously.
