Xiu Mei was silently staring at the lake, but her mind was already drifted somewhere else. By saying these lines, Feng Jianyu has created turmoil in her heart. Unknowingly he had successfully stroked a dead chord of her heart.

Her mind takes her back to the time seven years back when they had spent almost thirty beautiful days in each other's company while preparing for the compet.i.tion. In that one month, they talked endlessly about everything, learning the computer, books, business, future dreams, life expectations, hobbies, and many such things that she has never told anyone before.

Their cordiality and affection for their individual dreams and the pa.s.sion with which they were striving hard to achieve it was wonderful.

Feng Jianyu was kind, gentle and patient towards her. He treated her warmly, took her to the best places to have meals and treated her as if she is a precious pearl in the palm of his hands.

While taking a break in between their studies, they took countless number of walks around the lush gardens of the resort, eating ice-creams together. She always liked his att.i.tude towards her, He was willing to help her in every possible way, but at the same time would always encourage her to make herself worthy for it. He was always careful enough never to step into her personal s.p.a.ce.

She recalled his lesson word by word which he taught her when she was feeling disheartened because of her incomplete invention. That was the only moment she has ever doubted on herself.

He held her frail shoulder before saying, 'I wish all your dreams come true in future…. Wish you all the best… But remember; don't work hard to achieve your dreams, work harder to make yourself worthy for your dreams. In this world everyone dreams big, but only a few people manage to achieve it, because they don't work on their dreams instead they work on themselves and their dreams are achieved eventually…. '

She was touched by his deep thinking, he was nothing like those MCP's (Male Chauvinist pigs) who would never consider a woman their worthy competent. Since that day she started working harder on herself to achieve her dreams.

She recalled how Feng Jianyu even fulfilled his promise of making her meet Feng Dingxiong once.(Chapter 47 if any reader wants to know when did he promised that)

A SMALL FLASHBACK

It's been around more than three weeks since they had started preparing for the test together. One day she was sitting in the library reading a book written by a CERN scientist on particle physics, when Feng Jianyu entered the library looking for her, holding few shopping bags in his hand.

"Here you are! I guessed it right that you would be in the library reading a boring book…." He said.

She turned her attention to him, "Huh? Boring? No sir, this is a book on particle physics… You know what particles are? It is the….."

Before she could complete her sentence he stopped her raising his hands in panic, "NO NO NO…. These computer cla.s.sed are more than enough for me! No physics cla.s.s… Be merciful…" She giggled at his reaction.

Feng Jianyu sat down beside her, "I have come here to take you out for dinner… and there's a surprise for you." He sounded mysterious.

"Dinner is fine… But what's the surprise?" she frowned and asked him.

"Don't you know what the meaning of surprise is? Come with me and find out yourself"

Holding the crook of her elbow he pulled her up from the chair.

"But... Let me finish this chapter first"

"To h.e.l.l with this book" s.n.a.t.c.hing the book from her hand he tossed it to the side. "Read it later after we come back. I'm sure you don't want to miss this surprise."

"Ok fine!! I'm coming… Sir, your surprise should be better than my book, otherwise I will teach you particle physics for the next three days" she said giving a wide grin.

Feng Jianyu scoffed, "Hmph… Once you'll see my surprise you're not going to touch this book again."

"Really? Is your surprise that good?"

"It's the best!" He pa.s.sed the shopping to her, "This is for you… I'm giving you 30 minutes to get ready" he said, looking at the time on his watch.

"What's this?" she peeked inside the paper bags.

"Clothes, shoes and some accessories that you might need."

Biting her lips she returned the bag to him, "I'm sorry sir, I can't accept this…"

"Why? Don't you like the dress?"

"No sir, it's beautiful… and equally expensive" she said the last three words meekly. "But don't worry sir, two months before I bought a beautiful dress from the flea market. Although it's not expensive but I'll dress up properly, and won't let you down" she said with a smile.
