The girl was still a little shocked by the speed of the changes in her personal life. It would seem that even a week had not pa.s.sed after their acquaintance, but they were practically... She again recalled the last evening at the club and everything that happened between them in that corridor.
It is good that the lighting was dim then and she did not clearly see his face. Otherwise, his pa.s.sionate image would confuse her mind every time she closed her eyes. But now they were together, they were a couple. And the antic.i.p.ation of the further consequences of this fact every now and then caused quite predictable sensations in the lower part of her belly...
'So, you need to gather your thoughts together, Elena. Why did I even come here?'
Elena closed her eyes and began to a.n.a.lyze how it would be better to start a conversation with the professor and what to ask him at all.
At that moment, the office door opened and Brian Richards entered.
"Elena? What are you doing here? Are you waiting for me?" He asked when he saw his student.
"h.e.l.lo, Professor. Yes, I was waiting for you. Sorry to bother you, but will you have a few minutes to talk to me?"
"Of course! I still have a full hour of free time before the next lecture, so I'll listen to you with pleasure. What is bothering you?" The professor sat down at his desk and invited her to sit in an opposite chair. "Well, what did you want to talk about?"
"Professor, remember the doc.u.ments I received to give to Mr. Anderson?"
The expression on the man's face became noticeably more serious. "Yes I remember. Is anything wrong with them?"
"No, they are all right. Mr. Anderson has got them already. It's something else that is bothering me..." Elena paused for a moment, wondering whether to share this information or not.
"You see, one of the doc.u.ments was in a transparent folder, and I saw the contents of the first page." The girl swallowed a lump that raised to her throat, since the man opposite kept seriously staring at her.
"There... There was some kind of formula..."
"And? Did you immediately memorize it? Knowing the phenomenal abilities of your memory, I am absolutely sure that you were able to instantly memorize it." The man said calmly, looking intently at the girl and with his arms folded.
"Yes, I memorized it. Forgive me, please." Elena lowered her head, like a guilty child in front of her parent.
A kind smile slid across the professor's face. "Well, that's okay. You can't do anything with it. Your gift is your power, Elena."
'I wish I didn't have that power', Elena thought bitterly, because there was more harm than good from such power.
It is common for a person to forget bad things over time, when only fuzzy fragments remain from the events that have occurred. Elena has been deprived of this divine blessing since birth.
For some, it could seem like a miracle, but not for her. Remembering in detail not only good, but all the bad things that happened in her life. Learning by heart all books she read, all facts, doc.u.ments she saw even for a second. Every time she wondered how all this information had still not driven her crazy.
"Professor, that's not all. Regarding that doc.u.ment... I saw it today in a dream. I saw how I memorize the formula in the dream, to be precise."
"What? You had a dream about this information, and you memorized all 1500 characters? But after all, on the first page what you saw there are no more than 500 of them. How do you...?" The professor opened his mouth feeling taken aback with her words.
"There were more than 2,000 characters, Professor", Elena corrected his words.
The man's face froze in shock from what he heard. He silently got up from his chair and walked to the office door. Having checked that there was no one behind the door, the professor closed the door and turned the lock.
