While this man was clearly weaker than even simple cultivators under Venna, since he was only at the developing core level, the fact that he had over fifty guards with him that were all at the level where I couldn't even gauge their strength, allowed him to speak with confidence.

Overwhelmed by the combined aura of the entire unit, everyone had to swallow their pride and step down, while keeping an eye on the other party just to make sure that no one would try to use this situation to his own advantage.

Following some kind of the procedure, both of them slightly bowed to the mayor while putting their weapons away. As I sent a look to the Draconic butler, I could see that he only looked at the mayor with disdain before standing behind his Elder's back.

"Good then. Respectable elder, you can start with your own version."

Gesturing him to start, the mayor sat down in a chair that one of the guards took our of his storage ring and placed right as the middle-aged official started lowering his a.s.s.

"Honourable Mayor, the matter looks like this. When we heard about someone claiming to hail from our family, we followed the standard procedure and attempted to invite them to our clan compound to verify their blood. But this young man out there refused to cooperate, disrespected us and finally attacked us, causing the whole incident. Considering how Heavenly Sword Venna came to his aid, I'm worried that this is a plot directed against the Katenaris! I urge the Town Mayor to cut this scheme at the roots and bring back peace and prosperity to our great city!"

Hearing the explanation from the disciplinary elder, I couldn't help but marvel how on point he was with his explanation! Of course, there was no way in h.e.l.l that I would ever admit to it, with how much effort and risk did I placed into bringing this plan into motion in the first place!

"Okay then, that's your side of the story, elder Venna, would you mind taking your turn now?"

Seeing how the conflict arose between two of the most powerful factions in the city, the mayor couldn't just brush it off under the blanket and silence me. To be fair, he didn't even ask me to tell what did happen, but went straight for my backer!

"While I would love to speak about it, I believe that my disciple is far more suited to do so since he was in the heart of the commotion since the very beginning! Bart, could you?"

With Venna giving me the chance to coat this important man to my side, I wouldn't be me if I refused!

"Respectable Town Mayor, I and my fiancee came here to this town to take part in the tournament and look for the opportunity to grow. Yet, as soon as my beloved went outside to meet up with me and have some rest before her second match will start, not only was she approached by a group of suitors that I managed to brush off, but then this old pervert came and tried to force her to come with him! At this point, I made a dramatic break to increase the tension in those who were listening to me. Still lying on the stone slabs with my wounds profusely bleeding, I pretended to have some trouble with catching a breath, only for Eve to came running to my side and fed me some of the regenerative pills. 

Using her helping hand, I prompted myself up a bit, to let the mayor have a better look at my ragged face. Swiping the blood from my face away, I raised my eyes and looked at the town official.

"When I attempted to bring my beloved to safety, away from the lecherous hands of this old pervert, he actually dared to attack me! I wouldn't call myself a man if I didn't stand up and fight, seeing how this pervert was ready to attack me when I almost managed to slip the prey he set his eyes on from his hands! Despite knowing that I had no chance in a direct fight against him, I hoped that my efforts would give my beloved enough time to escape, but thankfully, with the timely arrival of my master, I was about to be saved from the clutches of the death, when this man attempted to kill and silence me!"

Taking a break to cough up some blood that I did my best to force out of my mouth for a more dramatic effect, I cleared my throat and continued.

"Do respectable mayor remember the incident that took place just before the grand ceremony? Someone actually attempted to kill both of me and my fiancee with some kind of infernal help, setting the entire training room ablaze. Only thanks to the favourable fate and quick wits we managed to escape with our life back then! Yet, even after my master arrived, even after she gave him enough face to let him go away just like that when I couldn't agree with it and attempted to voice my protest, this despicable man acted as he was going to leave, before once again attempting to kill me! Everyone here can be my witness! I don't want revenge, I only want for this man to be brought to justice so that my beloved won't be a.s.saulted while fighting in the tournament!"

Unable to extend this farce any longer, I actually started coughing for real, with my throat dry after acting and screaming for so long. The state of my injured all over body didn't help me at all!
