"Boo!"

A mask of black cat with red eyes suddenly appeared in front of Shao Yan's face.

Shao Yan got the shock of her life, she reflexively leaned back to her seat and almost screamed out loud before she noticed Fan jie from her peripheral views and could guess a little who the person behind the mask is.

She quickly excused herself from the phone, "My apologies, Uncle Xie, let me call you back tomorrow." And then she quickly hung up the phone.

Wenhai felt so guilty and he slowly took off the mask, "Ah, Xiao Yan, I'm sorry, I didn't know you're on the phone." And then he swiftly turned around and looked at Fan jie who was giggling, "It's all your fault, big sis! Xiao Yan will scold me mad now!"

Fan jie walked over to both Wenhai and Shao Yan, "Xiao Yan, sorry, we were trying around our costume for our office Halloween party. Ah! You won't be here, are you?"

Shao Yan shyly nodded and smiled, "En, you guys have fun. Daniel and I will be in j.a.pan during those week."

Fan jie jokingly elbowed Shao Yan, while giggling, she said, "Ah! I'm so jealous! You're going for couple holiday so soon! I heard you already applied for your vacation days, it's in two weeks right?"

Wenhai quickly chimed in and shoved Fan jie to the side. He held out one hand, "Whoa Xiao Yan, don't forget to bring a lot of banana cake and chocolates from there, alright!"

Shao Yan laughed along with them, "Yes yes, I will definitely bring a lot of snacks home."

The week pa.s.sed by in instant. Shao Yan and her team had to cram a lot of tasks while she was still around. She only applied for a week of vacation, but she wanted to be able to spend her time with Li Xiqing to the fullest without having to worry about work. That was why she insisted to clear as much pending items as possible so she could leave in peaceful mind.

Shao Yan just came out of the meeting room, when she saw Risa was walking over. In her signature confident stride, Risa was watching Shao Yan intently, not allowing Shao Yan to escape. Risa had put on white blouse and red dress pants. She also had black biker jacket over her blouse; she looked amazing as usual.

The whole week after the incident in Li Xiqing's office, Shao Yan had tried not to engage with Risa as much as before. If she did not understand anything, she would prefer to send her an email, instead of looking for Risa directly at her desk like how she used to.

Shao Yan was not scared of her, but she did not trust herself that she would not be rude towards Risa. So she thought that it would be better for everyone if she kept a little distance.

Today, it seemed that it was her unlucky day.

"Miss Shao. You're a very difficult person to find. You have been avoiding me the whole week, I see." Risa quickly called Shao Yan when she saw Shao Yan was about to turn around to escape.

Before Shao Yan got the chance to reply, Risa hurriedly continued, "We have a lunch appointment with a potential customer, remember? Let's go. We should leave now, or we will be late."

Risa had walked over to Shao Yan and now was standing in front of her, "You have to put these back at your desk, right? Let me walk with you." Risa did not give Shao Yan any chance to back track or give any excuse. Shao Yan was cornered with all of her words being spoken out loud in front of her own team, as well as Mr. w.a.n.g, who gave a rare smile when he heard the word 'potential customer'.

Shao Yan was watching Risa's retreating back as she walked towards the direction of Shao Yan's office area.

Shao Yan softly sighed, and stood still on her track. She totally forgot about this 'lunch invite' that Risa was talking about. On one side, she was really curious who this 'potential customer' was. On the other side, Shao Yan really did not feel like she want to have any sort of connection with Risa anymore.

Shao Yan slowly lifted her chin up. Without looking around at the faces of her teammates, she walked ahead, following Risa behind her steps.

'Fine. Who is scared of who? Just bring it on!' Shao Yan chanted in her mind to flame her fighting spirit.

"I will drive my own car"

Shao Yan and Risa were standing in front of the elevator after they stepped out of it and walked together to the parking garage. Along the ride down the elevator, Risa tried to engage in small talks, but Shao Yan was not as friendly as she used to be. Shao Yan only gave short replies and her behavior was not as warm as before.

"I am more convenient with driving my own car instead of sitting with a stranger inside a cramped s.p.a.ce. Just text me the address and I will be there." And without waiting for Risa to answer, Shao Yan quickly walked over to her car. She unlocked it, and got inside.

After she put on her seatbelt, a ringtone chimed in indicating that she just got a new text message. Shao Yan swiped the screen and saw a string of words for the location of the meetup. Shao Yan lifted her head to look at where Risa was standing earlier, but she could not see her anymore. She turned her head to the side, and saw Risa had walked over to her own car.

Shao Yan took a deep breath, 'Don't feel guilty, Shao Yan. That woman is eyeing your man. Don't get softhearted!' she thought inwardly while nodding repeatedly and convinced herself that she did the right thing.

Shao Yan inserted the car keys, started the engine, and drove out of the parking garage.
