Shao Yan was overwhelmed with all of this information. She not only met one family member, but two! She was looking at Grandma and then at Risa back and forth.

"B-But, Karl.. he thought you were single! How could you do that to him."

Risa choked on her tea, and Grandma Wu was looking at her with questioning gaze, "Karl?" While looking at Shao Yan and Risa back and forth.

"It's - it's actually nothing, Grandma, don't worry," Risa quickly said, and then threw a conspiring look at Shao Yan, "Let's talk later, okay, sis?"

Shao Yan was still confused while processing all the information in her head. She just slowly sipped her tea, while trying to sort everything out.

"Grandma, so are you visiting this time, just to check on me?" Shao Yan slowly put down her cup before asking the question.

Grandma Wu leaned back to her chair and stared at the tranquil lake in front of her. She did not say anything for a moment, and was just staring at the birds who were flying over the water.

She took a deep breath, before slowly said, "After Old Man pa.s.sed away, none of those grudges between countries actually matter anymore."

Her eyes were looking at the distant, "I wanted to tie all loose ends. I tried to travel a lot while I can," she looked down, and twirled the edge of the handkerchief in her hands, "I opened another branch of our family business tea shop here." Grandma spread out her hands around the area, and sighed, "If Old Man had found out, he would jump out of his grave and be very angry, but he would also agree with me at the same time. This small tea house will be your inheritance in the future anyway."

Grandma Wu slowly chuckled while patting Shao Yan on the back of her hand, "Yan Yan, our family may not be rich or powerful, but I still want to give you at least a chance to live comfortably." Her eyes curved like a crescent moon, and her lips slowly showed a tender smile, "We have lost a lot of chances to watch you grow up to be this amazing woman you are today. You have suffered a lot without us around, Yan Yan. Not anymore, Grandma is here now."

Shao Yan was overwhelmed with emotions; she was not able to say anything other than crying and nodding at her words.

"I tried to find you," Grandma Wu turned her head to look at Shao Yan, she grabbed hold of Shao Yan's hands again and held them securely inside both of her palms. "You saw the box and what was inside it. Your mother, may she rest in peace. Your mother had never failed to update us on your being."

Grandma Wu gave a soft sigh and then she said, "One day, the letters and pictures suddenly stopped. And I got worried. I was not able to travel because at that time, your grandfather was sick and had to be hospitalized."

Grandma Wu turned around to look at Risa, and then back at Shao Yan, "That's why I asked Shaoying to hire a private investigator to look into your news because I could not leave the hospital."

Grandma Wu paused and slowly picked up her teacup and drank slowly. Risa continued on her behalf, "Grandma finally found all of you after searching for some time. We almost lost track of your mother and yourself after your parents divorced and both of you moved to Beijing. The investigator finally found news about you moving to America, and I was about to search again, but, Daniel contacted Grandma first."

Surprised at this piece of news, Shao Yan was looking at Risa dumbfounded, "Daniel?"

She swiftly turned to look at Grandma Wu, "Li Xiqing? He was looking for you?"

Grandma Wu slowly nodded, "Not really," she clasped both hands on her lap, and then she said, "a few months ago, I received a phone call from my lawyer, asking me if I know someone by the name of Li Xiqing."

Grandma Wu paused to sip her tea, and then she slowly continued, "He said, because this man was trying to bring the widow of Wu Geping," she turned to look at Shao Yan, "my son and your father; to the court."

"Imagine this old lady's surprise," Grandma Wu chuckled softly, "Widow? I was so confused. My son had pa.s.sed away? And why would this Li Xiqing wanted to sue your mother?"

Grandma Wu softly sighed again, this time with heavier heave than before, "I only found out about your parents' divorce, after I investigated all of you myself. Your mother had never even once complained about your father to me."

Grandma Wu suddenly slammed her hand on the table and hit on it multiple times to show her frustration, "And then imagine my anger when I found out that your mother had pa.s.sed away and my useless son was married again."

She brought her hands up to rub her chest, "I was furious when I saw how his second wife looked like!" Grandma Wu raised her voice, causing Risa to quickly stand up and rubbed her hand over the elderly's back.

"Grandma, remember your blood pressure, Yan Yan is fine now. Don't be angry. Don't be angry anymore." Risa kept repeating the words, trying to coax Grandma to calm down.

Shao Yan also quickly poured new cup of tea for her, and blew on the cup to lower the temperature so Grandma could drink it right away.

Grandma Wu started to cry again, "My son died alone and I was not even notified. Other than your mother, no other people actually know about me and your grandfather."

She sighed and slowly wiped her trickling tears, "The old have to send the young to the grave, that is not the way it supposed to be." Grandma Wu turned to look at Shao Yan; she covered both of her hands with hers, "My poor child. How angry you must have been at your father."

She sighed and then she paused for a long while, as if she was trying to recall something.

Grandma Wu continued, "I know now, that I lost your track was because you dropped your family name, and just go with 'Shao Yan' as your name," she paused, and rubbed her hand on the back of Shao Yan's hand, "you are not alone anymore. Grandma and Shaoying will not leave you anymore."
