I Deserve A Second Chance Chapter 25 - Must Stay Alert

Shao Yan looked at his whole actions and was dumbfounded.

This guy adapted too quickly, didn't he??

Sigh.. She decided to let it go. He had helped her anyway.

Or maybe he just needed to pee that badly.

Shao Yan entered her apartment and then went to the kitchen to prepare something for Li Xiqing to drink. First, she boil water. And then took out two cups from the cabinet.

Shao Yan walked back to the living room, took off her yellow jacket and put it on the couch, off to the side of the coffee table.

While waiting for the water to boil, she decided to unload her suitcase. Shao Yan took out all the green tea packages that she had bought from City Q and started to put them on the kitchen counter.

Shao Yan was opening the windows to the patio when Li Xiqing came out.

He had already taken off his suit jacket and tie. His white s.h.i.+rtsleeves were rolled up three quarter of his arm, and he had unb.u.t.toned his s.h.i.+rt several b.u.t.tons from the top.

Li Xiqing walked slowly but steady to her direction.

He looked relax.

He should have looked like a cat. But instead, he looked like an elegant panther.

Unconsciously, Shao Yan was really enjoying this view.

Those silhouette of his chest muscle. His lean waist.

His arms muscle.

How can a man looked this manly..??

Li Xiqing noticed her admiring eyes and felt extremely pleased. But he didn't say anything.

Shao Yan was really thirsty now. Why did the water take so long to boil...!!

Li Xiqing saw the unpacked suitcase and then looked at the stuff on top of the kitchen counter.

He sat down on the living room couch, and put his jacket next to her yellow jacket.

"Where is your housemate?" he casually asked the question while watching her carrying the tea packets back and forth.

Shao Yan looked at him, and then quickly looked away.

Ugh! Too beautiful. Must. Stay. Alert.

"She's in Singapore right now. But she will come back next week. She's a supermodel." Shao Yan paused, seemed to think about something.

And then she added, "Very pretty and very tall. I will introduce the two of you next time."

Shao Yan started to sort through the different packages and separated them based on who she wanted to give them to.

Li Xiqing heard this, and just silently stared at her back view. He was contemplating.

'... What did she mean by this statement?'

After a while, he said, "So she travels a lot and most of the time you would be alone." Li Xiqing stood up and walked to the patio and looked around.

"How safe is this area at night? Didn't you say you had to frequently worked until late?"

He walked back into the living room and then to the kitchen.

Li Xiqing stood near her. He leaned in to the kitchen counter. His left hand was next to her left hand, while his right hand just stayed on his side, next to her body but did not touch her. He just stood really close to her.

From being this close, Li Xiqing could see Shao Yan more clearly. With his eyes, he slowly traced her face.

From her peach blossom eyes, to her small nose. His eyes moved to her soft cheek and then her lips.

He paused a long time on her lips, looking at that pinkish plum so seriously. He forced himself to tear his gaze away back to her soft hair.

His hand that was near her, was really urging him to touch that hair.

To touch her.

"Always make sure to check your windows and your door before you sleep, alright?"

He noticed her hands faltered for a moment when he said the last part.

Li Xiqing kept looking at her closely, that even Shao Yan could feel his deep serious penetrating gaze on her.

Shao Yan braved herself to look him in the eyes, "Uh huh, that's my habit, thanks for your concern." she smiled and then walked around the kitchen counter, away from him.

She chanted again.

Must.

Stay.

Alert.

Shao Yan fumbled around the sink, not sure what she was trying to do.

"The area was actually pretty safe. It's located by the main road too. So I think, any criminals would think twice before entering this neighborhood", she just rambled on.

Shao Yan filled the cups with the Laoshan green tea that she just brought back, and then poured the boiled water halfway. She waited for the tea to steep for a while, before adding lukewarm water to fill the rest of the cup.

Now, the tea would be at room temperature and could be drink right away.

Shao Yan pa.s.sed a cup to Li Xiqing, "Here you go. Try this. This is the tea that I was telling you before."

She pointed at the packets next to him, "I bought some flavors back. See which one you like, and take them back with you."

Li Xiqing accepted the cup, and tasted it.

She brewed it light, but still could maintain the fragrance of the fresh tea leaves.

Li Xiqing sipped his tea in silence. Shao Yan also stayed silent while savouring the smell of the fresh brewed tea in front of her.

"Of all these flavors, which one do you recommend?" he asked while looking at the tea packages.

Shao Yan answered right away, "The cla.s.sic green tea. The rest are not the original flavor, but more to attract younger people to drink more tea."

Li Xiqing took one packet of the cla.s.sic green tea and read the label.

Shao Yan glanced at the LED desk clock on top of the coffee table. She calculated how many hours she had left to work on the blog post.

But she still sipped her tea slowly.

Li Xiqing suddenly straightened back up, carrying the tea packet with him.

"Thanks for the tea. I will leave now." he looked at her and waited.

Shao Yan put down her cup and then walked closer.

"Don't sleep too late. You've been traveling the whole day." Li Xiqing stood still while watching her walking closer.

"Thank you for picking me up and sending me back." Shao Yan gave a natural smile, she was really feeling indebted to him.

Now they stood in front of each other at a safe distance from each other.

Shao Yan tilted her head slightly to the side, wondering why he didn't start walking to the foyer.

Li Xiqing maintained eye contact with her while slowly moving even closer to her.

Like a hunter, slowly walking to his prey.

His right hand touched her left upper arm, and then started to slide down to her wrist.

"In case you haven't noticed.." he started to say.

Shao Yan had stiffened up, started from his initial touch.

"I'm officially pursuing you."

Li Xiqing was still looking into her eyes, her face was frozen.

He grabbed her hand and squeezed it, not too firm, but holding her hand still inside his palm.

"You can run away all you want"

He tugged her hand closer.

"But I will always catch you."

He kissed her forehead and smelled her fragrant hair.
