Bright early morning, the birds were chirping joyfully outside. The sun was s.h.i.+ning so brightly and a slight ray of suns.h.i.+ne seeped through the curtains.

Ever since Shao Yan slept over frequently, Li Xiqing no longer used the light blocking curtains in the room.

Shao Yan had difficulty in waking up early, unless there was sunlight in the room. And Shao Yan loved her job so much. So Li Xiqing tried to be as supportive as possible. He very much wanted to let her sleep more, but he relented to her wish.

After the talk yesterday, Shao Yan had expected to wake up tired, but surprisingly she slept like a baby. She slept so sound that she even missed her alarm clock notification.

Shao Yan was running out of the bedroom when Li Xiqing was standing patiently by the foyer with her laptop bag and breakfast in his hands.

"Don't run like that, I'm scared that you will fall down" he reprimanded her. His voice sounded strict but his face betrayed his intention. He always looked at her tenderly that sometimes Shao Yan would tease him instead.

But she could not do it this time. She could not think of a good comeback and just give him a shy smile.

She quickly put on her shoes, and then walked out of the apartment while still tidying up her hair. She left a mental note to herself: no more wine on working days! And no more steak!

She paused and thought for a while.

'Well. Scratch that. She loved the steak' she sighed helplessly 'She would love to have it anytime!' Shao Yan silently pondered.

When she arrived in the office, Shao Yan rushed to the meeting room immediately. When she entered, all eyes were looking at her direction because of the sudden interruption.

Mr. w.a.n.g was not happy. He had told her multiple times that this week was critical. They needed to prepare themselves to welcome OnScience team that would visit their office soon. So Mr. w.a.n.g wanted them to go through the daily schedules that they arranged for OnScience team.

"Now that Miss Shao had granted us her presence, let's start from the top. Lao Huo, start over from 9am Day 1."

A lot of sighs and complains murmured around the room. They had discussed Day 1 for thirty minutes now! Thus, almost all of them subtly turned their head to Shao Yan and sent her a hate look.

Their gazes were screaming 'It's all you fault!' at her face.

Shao Yan could only laughed guiltily at them. She scratched her head, and gave sheepish smile. Mr. w.a.n.g was in bad mood now, how was it her fault.

She felt she had been wrongly accused.

Project Team spent the whole morning discussing 3-day worth of schedule for OnScience team.

And Mr. w.a.n.g really did not let them go easily. He decided to order lunch, and had them sit through lunch break. They had to continue the discussion to Day 4.

By the end of the day, the whole team only managed to finalize schedules worth for seven days.

Shao Yan wanted to scream out loud. The OnScience team would only stay here for six months! So why did they have to go through this level of details, if they would end up working closely together anyway?

How were they going to survive the next two weeks; were they going to just to be in meetings the whole day to discuss on schedules?

(ー_ー")

After the sun had set, Shao Yan finally went back to her desk. She was so exhausted after a whole day of meetings. Her face had sunken and she felt so dispirited. Her shoulder was aching for being strained for too long and her fingers were stiff from too much typing. She slumped down on her chair and just rested herself. She leaned her head back to the headrest and closed her eyes for a while.

Lee Ying, her intern, was no longer around to help them, as her interns.h.i.+p had been completed. The timing for losing one resource was really bad. At this time, when they needed help the most, but they were down by one person, was really challenging for the whole team to work efficiently.

Since Shao Yan was stuck in that 'useless meeting' the whole day, she had not gotten the chance to do her actual work.

Before she actually started to work, she abruptly straightened herself and took out her mobile phone to send Li Xiqing a message. She sent him a brief message 'I will be home late, I have to work overtime tonight. Don't wait for me'. She sighed softly. Hopefully, he did not spend his time waiting for her again.

After she finished typing, she put her phone to the side and started working on her emails.

Her emails were piling up. As she started reading through them, she scolded Mr. w.a.n.g in her heart. She created a priority list and just in thirty minutes, she had filled her A4 size doc.u.ment with list of things to do.

She felt a headache was coming. She reminded herself to talk to Li Xiqing about this, that she might have to do a lot of overtime starting from next month.

She sighed softly as she kept typing on her computer. The noise around her was unconsciously subdued. She could not bother to listen to other things around her. She focused on what she was tasked on for the day.

Fan jie was on the phone arguing with a supplier. It was already after business hour, so her call was deemed rude by the supplier. They kept arguing back and forth.

But who was Fan jie? She didn't take the customer's nonsense down. So they started arguing, starting from a sarcastic remarks about 'work etiquette' and then 'acceptable working hours' to the topic of 'profitable project' and finally 'it's a good deal whether you want it or not, you can go to h.e.l.l!'.

At first, people did not pay any attention to her and the customer's loud voice which transmitted over the phone receiver.

But gradually, people started to gather at her desk, which was adjacent to Shao Yan's.

People around them was listening to their banter amusingly. With so many people standing around her, Shao Yan could not help but get distracted as well. Looking at their ruckus around her, her mood was lifted for a bit.

Suddenly, Shao Yan's desk phone rang.
