He then s.h.i.+fted his mind into a meditative state and entered his subconscious. Mubai focussed on removing impurities and advanced his cultivation further. Everything between heaven and earth suddenly became peaceful. And just like that, he slowly rid himself of all distractions as his heart became serene like a quiet lake surface.
The City site was currently noisy and bustling, but it did not seem to have any effect on his mind.
From a distance, Zhu Yi, 'Uncle Yi' was calmly stood guard. Suddenly he looked into Mubai's direction, he was smiled.
'This kid, it feels as if it was yesterday he was crying and felt terrified that his spirit would be a trash spirit. Now, he already grows to become a dependable man with both power and authority on his beck and call without depending on the Empire's resource...'
Even though Gu Duxing was practicing his sword arts, he never stopped paying attention to Chu Yang's movements. Since the day the word "brother" was spoken, Gu Duxing felt as if he had a place to lean on. He felt as if he had a family member, Chu Yang!
Although they both never talked about their circ.u.mstances, Zhu Yi knew that Mubai was greatly ambitious and won't be satisfied to just inherited the Starfall Kingdom and rule it. No, his future lay further ahead, maybe he will rule over the whole continent.
'Maybe, just maybe, he will be able to meet his mother in that place...' Zhu Yi's eyes stared deep into an empty place.
Since the day Mubai said that they are family, Zhu Yi swore in his heart that he will sacrifice even his body and soul to take care of Mubai and ensure a bright future for him.
Because he is his family, the future and the hope of the whole Starfall Empire!
Before this, Zhu Yi only worried about two people, namely his wife and his Emperor. However, he now had one additional person to worry about, which was Dai Mubai. On the surface, Mubai appeared to behave maturely, but Zhu Yi knew that his maturity was a result of him going through many hards.h.i.+ps in his life!
But, all this was for his own good. There's no better method to learn than to experience it on your own!
As he pondered over this, he began to feel completely at ease. However, the very moment that he raised his head to attempt to continue watched over the surrounding, he was thrown back into a startled state. Instantly, he turned and looked in Mubai's direction once again. This time around, he had used too much force and almost twisted his neck.
'How's this possible...' was the only thing that crossed Zhu Yi's mind.
...
Before the City gate of Starfall Imperial City, a long line of peoples queued could be seen. If seen from afar, it was as if there's a long snake slithered slowly into the City. Some of them were merchants and their caravan, while the others were travelers, loose spirit Masters, and many others.
"Woah, finally we managed to get in. That was a long line, so many peoples want to get into the city!" A blue-eyed boy looked very excited, he was in a small simple carriage, his eyes curiously darting around sightseeing his surrounding through the carriage's window.
"Haha, chill kid! First, we're going to Military hall to register you into the young military camp where you'll be trained into a fine young man." the Guard from the caravan laughing out loudly and a.s.suring Xiao Chen that Military Camp is a good place to be in.
After twenty minutes slowly traversing through the crowded street with their carriage, they finally arrived at the grand building with a crisscrossed sword and big sign with 'Military Hall' written on it above its door.
"You can go in, you have the badge from your benefactor, right? show it to the receptionist in the lobby and then follow his/her instruction." The Guard smile widely and slowly told Xiao Chen what he needs to do in Military Hall.
"Yes! Thank you, Mr. Guard!" Xiao Chen then ran to the Military Hall to proceed with his things.
After Xiao Chen went inside the Military Hall, 'Mr. Guard' turned around to the carriage and asked the people inside.
"Sister-in-law, when will you tell Chen'er about his ancestry? granted your husband has already pa.s.sed away when he's tried to help his friend Tang Hao to clash against spirit hall, but you still part of our clan, we're not afraid of spirit hall. Your father-in-law and Xiao Chen'er's Grandfather longed for you two to return."
Xiao Chen's mother, Li Mei, stepped out of the carriage. From her graceful gesture, people who see her will think that they see a young lady from a n.o.ble house. She showed a conflicted face, she bit her lips in worry.
"Brother Linye, It's not my intention to not tell Chen'er about his ancestry, but my heart is not ready. I don't want him to develop a vengeful mindset if he knows about the reason for his father's death."
Hearing his sister-in-law, Tie Linye could only sigh. He wanted to say that Xiao Chen would not harbor such thought, but Xiao Chen is still a kid and with his immature line-of-thinking, it was very probable for him to harbor a seed of hatred that will be detrimental for him.
'Brother, I wish you still alive and kicking. But, I promise you that I will nurture your son to become a dependable man like you...' a sigh escaped through Tie Linye's mouth.
...
'How… How did he enter a meditative state so quickly?' Zhu Yi was at a complete loss because it was too appalling for a man to enter meditative state immediately after sitting down! Even a t.i.tled douluo could not achieve that so quickly!
Zhu Yi simply stared at Mubai with his eyes wide opened. He thought that nothing Mubai do will ever surprise him again, but this...
From the edge of the lake, the chaotic noise of the bustling city suddenly seemed so far away. In fact, it felt like it had disappeared from this world altogether. The wind blew gently, creating tiny ripples on the surface of the lake. Each wave hit the sh.o.r.e gently, one after another, in an endless cycle.
At that moment, the lake's calm sounds drifted towards Mubai in the dark night. A spiritual light flashed in his mind. His energy continued moving in the same way, although part of his consciousness was concentrated on the sounds created by the gentle waves that were overlapping on the sh.o.r.e. Time pa.s.sed by slowly and it seemed as if Mubai's soul had appeared next to a quiet, small lake. Its surface was so still that it could reflect the vast sky.
Mubai was in an extremely peaceful state of mind that he never experienced before in his meditative state. His entire body seemed to have escaped from the enslavement of life and become completely immersed in that tiny lake in his mind…
From the other side of the lake, Zhu Yi let out a sigh. 'This Kid is such an abnormal person… With such abilities, there is no doubt that he would surpa.s.s me in a short period of time. I can't beat his ability to enter meditative state right after sitting down…'
However, upon sighing finish, he instantly sensed that Mubai's breath had become elusive. Once again, Zhu Yi was astonished and turned around. He rubbed his eyes in disbelief. This person entered meditative state just after sitting down, and he has advanced to the enlightened state just after a few breaths!
Zhu Yi couldn't contain himself and nearly yelled out loud.
'Watching him cultivate like this is not good for my heart!'
Zhu Yi had to be in a meditative state for minimally a few hours before he could enter the enlightened state! This was cultivation at the most profound level - when the consciousness and thoughts intertwined to become one. In comparison to the normal meditative state, cultivation would be twice as effective in the enlightened state!
Yet, Mubai could advance into it so easily?
How appalling…
The edge of Zhu Ying's mouth curved into a slightly bitter smile. He had always thought that his talent was a rare gem in the Continent. Moreover, he did not expect this kid who was younger than him by dozens of years to cause him to lose almost all of his confidence with just a few breaths!
Inside his consciousness, Mubai opened his eyes slowly and stared intensely at the little waves lapping on the sh.o.r.e continuously. He began to understand something… Although these waves might not have much strength, they did not cease to advance, retreat, advance again, and retreat again…
Their movement did not appear to become weary at all.
Mubai could not help but think, "Just like a person who is cultivating, these waves did not turn cheerful just because of a little success and did not become weary just because of small failure. They were not rash in their actions but simply continued aiming straight ahead… Not knowing when or how their cultivation would increase…"
He continued staring at the waves as he felt the energy in his body slowed down, becoming like the waves as they flowed through his meridians continually and lapping in an energy circle. One round after another, slowly advancing…
His Tainted essence seemed to found a new path to advance and regulated in a new pattern.
At this moment, Mubai's consciousness advanced into an even more profound state.
Mubai felt as if all of heaven and earth had suddenly disappeared into thin air. There were no materials, desire; nothing existed. His whole body seemed to have dissolved into the quiet pond in front of him, slowly turning into the gentle waves that moved back and forth…
"Heaven and Earth never cease to move, Day and Night continue to cycle. Since the beginning, there's no way to end, One thing just moves to another. Life is no beginning, nor death is the end. Heaven is not the limit, nor h.e.l.l is the final place."
With that, unknowingly something changed inside him...
