"Yeah, yeah. Just give me another 5 minutes. Putting together the barrel is not fun."
5 minutes later:
"Done!" Blue jumped up from the bed with a red glowing LMG in her arms.
After building an LMG for so long, she was indeed relieved that she had finally finished. Any more of this and she might have burnt herself out. Literally. As of now, her clothes had melted along with a portion of the bed.
"Ewww! Pervert! Stop looking at me!" Blue covered her chest with her gun."
"I'm not interested. You really don't have to be worried." Simon waved her off.
"At the very least, you managed to create a perfect tier M249. You can see that it is a perfect tier because of the red glow. Anyways, you did good."
Simon got up and summoned his Gun, showing off the rainbow glow it exuded. Within the realm of guns, he would be the best. His gun was created as a Supreme tier, therefore being the best.
The only issue was the fact that both of them did not have any live practice dummies to shoot at. If they were lucky, they might find a few bandits when they leave the city, but bandits are really not strong enough to compare to them. Using their guns on bandits was like dropping a bomb on an ant.
"This city has a Core Formation city lord, lets go and challenge him." Simon walked towards the door in a hurried state, dragging Blue by the arm.
"Why now? And why the city lord? Can't we just go straight to the Yawning Immortals Sect and then breakthrough there after getting some fighting experience? I'm sure they must have plenty of elders we can fight to gain some much needed battle experience." Blue suggested seriously as she tried to halt Simon.
"Plus, we can go straight to Master w.a.n.g's sect after completing the trials. If we do all of this right, we can rescue the vice-leader with plenty of time to spare. Who knows? We might even break through to the Immortal Warrior stage like w.a.n.g. Once we get strong enough, we can finally leave this place with a goal completed and go back to HQ for a celebration."
"Hmmm… you are right. You can lead the way this time, I might know a lot about this world, but I have no clue about the sect. w.a.n.g was supposed to be a mysterious character that only appeared in the protagonist's time of need. Well since the protagonist is probably dead, at the very least deaf, w.a.n.g's story arc is in shambles." Simon sighed as he stopped walking.
"Good, I will guide us through a route that the old man recommended. It goes through the exact same forest that we went through before!"
"Lead the way."
2 hours later:
Simon and Blue traversed the forest in a timely manner, making sure to keep a stable and efficient pace so as to not tire them out too quickly. With a timer hanging over their heads, they needed to do things quickly. One year could easily become one month in the blink of an eye.
As they travelled, Simon hanged his gun near his waist, ready to grab and shoot. Should a beast appear and ambush them, Simon would waste no effort to destroy it with just the ma.s.s of his gunfire. In an age where guns reign supreme, Simon is also Supreme.
"Stop right there, youngsters." A middle aged man wielding a lever action rifle appeared in front of them, pointing his gun towards Blue.
"I am Ghost Crow, and you have stumbled upon my territory. Leave after dropping all of your artefacts or else you will die today."
BANG
"No."
FLOP
The barrel of Simon's gun exhaled a gentle smoke. One shot was all it took. The bandit's body laid on the ground with a single hole through the middle of the forehead. A simple mistake.
"Every single bandit encounter is a waste of time. That guy might have been a Core Formation expert, but he was so d.a.m.n weak." Blue laughed.
"Continue." Simon tapped Blue's shoulder after quickly looting Ghost Crow's corpse.
"What did you even find, before we leave?"
"A couple hundred gold coins. This guy was pretty rich, but now he's dead."
"Come on, continue leading us through the forest."
Another hour pa.s.sed like a simple moment in time. After encountering a few more so called powerful bandits, Simon and Blue managed to gauge their relative strength pretty well. According to their estimates, Simon could probably defeat 30 people of the same level as him, and Blue could easily do the same with just her firepower too.
When it came down to it, they seemed like terrifying Nascent Soul experts already. They could completely destroy groups of Core Formation warriors in a single fell swoop if needed. All it took was a well placed ambush and a fortified position; almost like a heavy machine gun placement.
After a while, the occasional bandits became much more boring and easier to handle. Simon or Blue would shoot and then they would leave after looting. It had already become a routine at this point. As of now, they had obtained a total of 5000 gold coins, ama.s.sing a fortune above that of some of those so called aristocrats.
"Grey, what do you think? Should we just speed up until we eventually arrive, or should we just continue at this pace and fight every single bandit we come across? I'm okay with either but bandits are getting boring to kill." Blue crossed her arms and leaned against a tree, looking at Simon.
"Whatever, I just want to arrive as soon as possible so I can take a long nap and then cultivate to Nascent Soul stage. It is paramount that I achieve this soon. I can't have Dahlia seeing me as a useless father that can't even become powerful enough to protect her." Simon sighed in worry.
"Don't worry, you definitely aren't useless. Just relax for once, your daughter probably would like that. No one wants their Dad to be constantly stressed and worried." Blue rubbed Simon's shoulder and warmly smiled.
"Okay, let's continue."
After another 2 hours of travel, Simon and Blue finally arrived at their destination. Before them was a huge gate that was being guarded by 2 red robes individuals with swords on their waists.
"Excuse me, is this the Yawning Immortals Sect?" Blue asked as she approached the guards.
"Yes, this is the Yawning Immortals Sect. Are you two here for the trials? If so, come with me, I will get you both sorted as quickly as possible. The trials are already due to start next week, so make sure to prepare if you haven't already." One of the guards opened the gate and led Simon and Blue through.
"Wow… this place looks so cool! Blue darted her eyes left and right as she began to see beautiful buildings everywhere. There were paG.o.das with beautiful gardens and shops with ancient stone etchings, along with many homes that housed hardworking disciples. This was just the tip of the iceberg.
Many libraries filled with martial arts among other things were scattered everywhere. Even if one was not looking, they would find one with ease. As it seemed, the sect placed great importance on accessibility.
"I am Zhang Kai. I will be guiding you to your temporary quarters. I trust that you know about the combat exams and the gun exams? Those are the only tests you must do, but they are very challenging for young people. There will be many Foundation Building peak stage experts along with a select few that have reached Core Formation. With the age limit being 30 years, this is bound to happen." The guard calmly went though some brief points before arriving at a medium sized condo-like structure.
"If you are displeased with anything, please inform me straight away. Our Yawning Immortal's Sect takes great pride in proving the best hospitality for the little amount of visitors we receive." Zhang Kai clasped his hands and left Simon and Blue at the front door.
"Jade keys to the left." Simon read from a sign nailed to the door.
"Got them." Blue immediately turned her head left and grabbed the keys.
"Open the doors please."
"Will do." Just as Blue was about to open the door, the audible sound of footsteps was heard from behind them.
"Well h.e.l.lo there newcomers!" An arrogant looking young man entered Simon and Blue's view.
"I see that you have also come for the trials, beat it. Otherwise I will get my men and have you kill-"
BANG
FLOP
"Grey! You can't just-" Blue was shocked, The obviously scheming man was instantly killed by Simon without a moment's thought.
"No evidence means no problems. Besides, he doesn't deserve your pity." Simon blew on his smoking barrel, entering the house without another word.
