"Ryan told me about you getting hospitalized. What happened? Were you injured? Are you okay now? When will you get discharged from there?" He asked consecutively, not giving Marion a chance to answer. "I can't visit you right now because I'm really busy, I'll drop by soon if I get a chance. Take care of yourself. Take this opportunity to rest. I asked your brother to not get too mischievous so as to not further stress you. I'll be sending you some herbal medicine. Be sure to drink them!"
He nagged Marion for a while before he was finally satisfied. And after rea.s.suring his granpa that he is fine, and that he's out of the hospital already, Marion put his phone down.
When Ryan, who's currently driving the car, saw him end the call, he initiated a talk.
"You.. Sorcha.." He tried to open up the conversation but didn't know how to voice out his thoughts.
Marion glanced at him from the pa.s.senger seat.
"I knew I acted weird." He said. "That day, I.. I thought I was going to lose my mind. I don't really know what I'm doing."
Ryan glanced at him for a second before returning his sight on the road.
"You like her?" He asked directly to the point.
Marion went silent for a while before saying, "Yes." With a firm tone.
"She's.. still young. You know that right?" Ryan asked.
"I know." Marion clenched his hands. "That's why..." He stopped for a second before he continued, "Can you take care of her for me?"
"What do you mean?" Ryan stopped the car as he waited for his answer.
"I'll try to stay away from her." He loosened his fist. "You said it, she's still too young. And I... Liking her is wrong and no matter how hard I try, I can't just forget her. Call me anything you want, but I know that what I feel for her is true."
Ryan sighed for his friend. "You know I won't judge you. I only want to remind you about what's right and wrong. As her teacher, I also want to protect her."
"Thank you." Marion replied.
Ryan then continued to drive the car. Both of them are still lost in their own thoughts.
'What is right, and what is wrong?' Marion asked himself inwardly.
He closed his eyes as he tried to shove the unpleasant memories that popped out, at the back of his mind.
