They determined that the ambush the Fiends planned would take place in the coming clearing. The first thing they needed to do was clean off their tails. There were two of them, and both tails needed to be removed simultaneously. Tower had the Gun brothers deal with the tails.
After pinpointing their locations, the Gun brothers each took a bow and arrow. Within the Low Rider Carriage, There were two arrow slits that allowed those within to shot enemies. Opening the slits, each brother took careful aim of their target. The two tails were instantly killed by the Gun brothers.
The next part of the plan involved the four men, Tower, Malkus, Paneneko, and Aerun, to take up positions around the ambushers and catch them by surprise. Tower wasn't very confident in Aerun's ability, but he had very little choice. Even if Aerun only served as a brief distraction, it would make everyone else's job's much easier.
The auto drive was still active as the four men left to take up their positions. They would wait until the Low Rider Carriage made its way into the clearing and ambush the ambushers as they began their attack!
Tower found his ideal spot, hidden in the trees. He could see his targets, but they couldn't see him. Tower examined his surroundings and felt this ambush was odd. These men should already know of the impressive fighting ability of Tower and the Gun brothers. At the very least, they should be aware that they were traveling with an immortal. Looking at the ambush, Tower felt like even if he and the Gun brothers walked into this ambush unaware; they would be able to fight their way out without suffering any casualties. This was a.s.suming that B'wiri didn't get involved.
There was something up with this. Tower pulled out a Psy Stone and began communicating his thoughts to B'wiri. A Psy Stone was a stone that allowed a Mortal Realm Fighter send communications to specific immortals. Under the immortal realm, it was impossible to send telepathic messages. Psy Stones, however, overcame that issue and were used in situations where mortals needed to covertly speak with immortals.
B'wiri also sensed the strange situation but told Tower to move ahead with the plan. She would be there to back them up if any immortals showed up. Tower felt more confident but was still cautious. Tower asked B'wiri to pa.s.s on the details of the situation to others. She did.
The Low Rider Carriage slowly pulled into the clearing and the ambushers sprang out from their hidden locations prepared to fire on the carriage. As quick as they sprang up they suddenly felt cold inside and crumpled to the ground. The ambushers were instantly taken out by Tower and the other men using crossbows.
"I didn't think it would work, but you know how stubborn mortals are. I let them try," Kan Je laughed evilly. Exiting a hiding place Kan Je already had his sword unsheathed. B'wiri stepped out of the carriage which came to a stop. B'wiri was carrying a spear when she came out of the carriage.
"Are you going to have your Friend join us or are you still hoping I won't notice?" B'wiri asked as she looked into a spot in the trees.
"Kan Je, you were right, this Amazon is formidable!" Laughed an old man.
"Yes, Master, She gave me quite a battle the last time we met. I barely managed to escape with my life!" Kan Je exclaimed to his Master. Kan Je's Master smiled wickedly at B'wiri.
"I am Wu Yu young lady. I look forward to reaping your soul!" said the old Fiend.
Without another word between them, the three began to fight. If B'wiri fought either of the two by themselves this would still be a tough fight. However, B'wiri was disadvantaged from the start. They were going to kill her pretty soon if she didn't do something. It wasn't just that they were both good fighters. They fought together in synchronization. This surprised B'wiri as Fiends never trusted one another. Were these two different? Did they have a special relations.h.i.+p like father and son? B'wiri didn't think so. Fiends don't synchronize with each other unless one Fiend has forced the other Fiend into a Master-servant arrangement.
That was an interesting thought, but knowing Kan Je she didn't believe he would ever submit. Especially if the other party was weaker than him. B'wiri discovered at the beginning that Wu Yu was slightly weaker than Kan Je. Kan Je, however, didn't attack. Why not?
B'wiri noticed something else that was strange. Kan Je was fighting below his abilities. When she faced him he fought at least one realm higher. One realm higher placed Kan Je as an equal to Wu Yu. Is Kan Je plotting against his master? B'wiri suddenly wondered.
"I'm surprised you trust your back to Kan Je, Wu Yu," B'wiri said.
"Trying to sow discord between us, eh girl. It's a good thought, but you're no good at it." Chided Wu Yu.
"I don't imagine myself to be as clever and backstabbing as two old Fiends, but I just found it odd that Kan Je is hiding his true Realm from you. Even then, with your synchronization being so high and having a cultivation level as hi as yours, I don't know, I would be worried. You're not worried about betrayal?" asked B'wiri.
"When you're a Fiend as old as me, what plots haven't you experienced? My disciple has attempted to a.s.sa.s.sinate me fourteen different times on the battlefield. After his last attempt, I gave him a choice Face his fate or make a Fiend Oath with me. He accepted the Fiend Oath. I made him swear that if he ever tried to kill me again He would offer his soul to me to consume. What do I have to fear young lady?" asked the old Fiend.
"Oh, you're trusting the Fiend Oath that's why you're so confident. I wonder, if I kill you would the oath be affected?" asked B'wiri innocently.
"s.h.i.+g," thought Kan Je.
Wu Yu's eyes grew big suddenly. He wondered why Kan Je kept holding back! He thought he was trying to set the girl up for an ambush. Instead, he was trying to set him up for the ambus.h.!.+
Wu Yu was furious as he turned to look at his student when his head suddenly flew off. Hanna Grace stepped out from behind the old Fiend. With a wicked smile.
"I suppose this also works," smiled Kan Je. Kan Je bent over and cut out the Fiend Heart of his former master. Placing it in a jade bottle and securing it. "Thank you for distracting the old man," It's taken me forever to take his head," Smiled Kan Je.
"Don't bother seeing me off," laughing at B'wiri's shocked face, Kan Je dashed into the forest.
As B'wiri recovered she was just about to kill Fanna Grace who remained standing there. As if reading her mind, Fanna Grace wagged her finger in front of B'wiri and pointed behind her. B'wiri looked behind her and saw a line of horses and riders filing into the clearing. At the head of the group was the 3rd Imperial Prince Canscino and right behind the Prince was his Immortal Protector Rothgrave. Before the Prince came into the clearing the Fiends were already retreating. Unnoticed by B'wiri, as the Fiends left, they left behind the bodies of Prince Canscino's murdered guards. They also took a few of their better known slain Fiends with them. It was a seamless operation that was clearly planned well in advance.
"You see, Immortal Rothgrave, as I said, my men were following some Fiends. It's unfortunate that they were killed by these Fiends. I hoped we could make it in time," the Prince shook his head sadly.
B'wiri walked forward and bowed politely towards Immortal Rothgrave.
"Immortal Rothgrave, I'm glad to see you. We were ambushed by some Fiends on our way to the Water Rock Sect. If we hurry we might be able to catch them!" said B'wiri.
"Catch them, you act as if you're not part of them!" challenged to Prince.
B'wiri looked at the Prince indignantly.
"I would watch my tongue if I were you little Prince or you might find you've lost it!" B'wiri said coldly.
"See Immortal Rothgrave, she's guilty. Look at how she tries to squirm out of my accusations. The evidence of her betrayal is right behind her. My men are dead, they demand justice!" Yelled the Prince.
"Your men?" B'wiri looked behind her to see a bunch of bodies that weren't there previously.
B'wiri was shocked and looked back at Immortal Rothgrave who stared at her suspiciously.
"Those Fiends must have dropped off these bodies. When exactly did your men die?" Asked B'wiri.
"You tell me, they were alive an hour ago when they left to pursue some Fiendish spies we uncovered." The Prince fiercely retorted.
"I am an Amazon, Fiends are our blood enemies. You continue with these lies and it won't take much for my Queen to replace your family line for another." B'wiri responded hatefully.
"Everyone saw you eating with that traitor Fanna Grace! The two of you were very chummy, you don't expect us to believe that you aren't a Fiend?" The Prince pressed forward on his accusation.
"Fanna Grace fooled everyone! You seem to really want to accuse me of being a Fiend. I wonder little Prince, when the two of you were chatting on the battlefield, is that when you decided to become a Fiend or was it later?" B'wiri counter-accused.
Rothgrave looked at the prince showing an unreadable expression.
"You've been my protector my whole life, you know me better than that." The Prince said.
"I also know the Amazons. It seems like this situation has gotten much more complicated. I suggest we all head back to the palace to talk things out." Immortal Rothgrave suggested.
"I refuse," B'wiri said.
"Young Amazon, I am inviting you to keep things from going out of control. Won't you reconsider?
"I remember that you once said, 'I would rather kill ten thousand innocents than mistakenly allow one Fiend to live.' I know what's going to happen once we get back to the palace. You'll have some of your fellow immortals come and kill both me and the Prince just to make sure. I'm not a fool so I'm not going." B'wiri said angrily.
"You know that by refusing my offer you are only confirming the Prince's claims!" said Rothgrave.
"You know if you make a wrong move there will be consequences. I am traveling with the Grandson of the Queen of the Amazons. I am his fiance, tell me if the scenario you're planning in your head will turn out well for your Empire?" said B'wiri.
"You refuse then?" Immortal Rothgrave asked sternly.
"I refuse," responded B'wiri.
"Fine, then I will capture all of you and take you back and see if torture can arrive at the truth. As for your queen, my Empire doesn't fear a bunch of useless women!" Roared Immortal Rothgrave.
B'wiri gripped her sword, readying herself for battle.
