The headlight was offending to the eyes. As Lu Jia’er turned around, the light was turned off. When she saw the license plate, a radiant smile emerged on her face.
Ian, who was in the driver’s seat, smiled a charming smile. He leaned over to pick up the bouquet on the pa.s.senger seat before he got out of the car.
Lu Jia’er was pleasantly surprised to see Ian holding a bouquet. She kept her eyes on him as he walked over slowly.
Lu Jia’er was the one that initiated the conversation. “You startled me there. How long have you been here?”
“Not long!” Ian replied with a gentle smile as he handed the bouquet to Lu Jia’er.
Lu Jia’er set her sight at the bouquet. They were not roses or lilies, but a bouquet of kapok. She had no idea when it became a thing to give a bouquet of kapok as a present. But this bouquet of kapok was quite interesting and was what Lu Jia’er would like.
“Is this for me?” Lu Jia’er asked, with a smile.
“Is there anyone else standing in front of me?” Ian grinned. His eyes spoke nothing but tenderness.
Lu Jia’er shot a swift smile. “No, there is not. Since this is for me, I will gladly accept it!” With that said, Lu Jia’er took over the bouquet of kapok from Ian.
Though the leading part of the bouquet was dried kapok, there was dried Baby’s Breath on the side. While the scent of the flowers was not strong enough to a.s.sail the nostrils, the bouquet presented a sense of quiet elegance.
It was not the first time that Lu Jia’er had received a bouquet but this one was unique. More importantly, this was the first time that Ian had ever given her flowers.
“Do you like it?” Noticing that Lu Jia’er’s attention was on the bouquet, Ian asked with a smile.
Lu Jia’er looked up. Happiness had climbed to her eyes. “Yes, I do!”
This answer made Ian smile. “I will walk you up!”
Lu Jia’er nodded. Then, she and Ian headed toward the elevator, arm in arm, intimately.
“Did tonight’s session go well?” Ian asked a casual question.
“Yes, everything is good!” Lu Jia’er replied.
This answer eliminated much worry buried in the depth of Ian’s eyes. “I’m glad to hear that!”
Lu Jia’er turned over to look at him. “Are you worried about my work?” She asked.
Ian hurried to explain. “I am not worried about your work, but you. I know that the accident was not serious, but you cannot be too careless with your condition!”
Ian’s words of concern warmed Lu Jia’er’s heart. “You can relax. I am fine!”
Ian patted her head fondly, which made Lu Jia’er feel both shy and sweet. As they arrived at the elevator, Ian pushed the b.u.t.ton. A moment later, the door was open and both stepped in.
They were the only two people in the elevator. Ian leaned over to Lu Jia’er gently. She must have guessed what his intention was because, out of shyness, she used her hand to stop him and reminded him in a low voice, “There are surveillance cameras here!”
Ian had to give up. Then, he whispered to Lu Jia’er in a soft voice, “Jiajia, move to my place!”
Ian was so close to her. She looked at him and asked, “Are you suggesting that we live together?”
“Yes. You are my girlfriend. Move in with me so I can take care of you!” Ian replied.
Lu Jia’er’s eyes were filled with tenderness. “I can think about us living together!” she said.
“Give me your answer as soon as possible!” Ian said, gently.
Lu Jia’er nodded shyly, “Sure!”
Ian walked her to her door. When he was about to turn around and leave, she suddenly grabbed him and raised herself on a tiptoe to kiss him on the cheek.
Ian paused there for a moment and so did Lu Jia’er because when she touched Ian’s cheeks, she saw Jin Xiangdong’s face on Ian’s face again.
This was really bizarre!
Soon, Ian regained his senses. Lu Jia’er was still in a daze when he said, “Come on, go inside now!”
Lu Jia’er came back to her senses and nodded, feeling ill at ease. She opened the door and walked in. Before she closed the door, she said happily, “Thank you for your flowers. Good night!”
Ian’s sight was gentle as he gazed at her. “Good night!”
Su Han saw Lu Jia’er coming back with a bouquet of kapok “The language of kapok is to cherish the people around you!” Su Han said.
Lu Jia’er did not know the language of flower for kapok but Su Han’s words had made her even more pleased. “Is that so?”
“I am the walking encyclopedia!” Su Han said, without shame.
Lu Jia’er smiled. Indeed, Su Han was quite informed. It was just that she was not much of a doer.
Su Han added another question, “Is it from Ian?”
“Yes!” Lu Jia’er nodded.
Su Han rubbed her chin. “This bouquet is quite elegant. Ian has got a nice taste. When kapok blossoms, the wool will swirl around. In other words, the ones that give this flower do not want to live another day with their loved ones apart. They want to cherish the time when they are together!”
Hearing her words, Lu Jia’er was deep in thoughts. “No wonder he asked me to move in with him.”
Su Han’s jaw dropped. “Ian asked that?”
“Yes!” Lu Jia’er nodded.
“Then hurry up and move in with him. From now on, I can live in this apartment all by myself!” Su Han seemed to be happy that Lu Jia’er could move out.
To this, Lu Jia’er’s response was, “Amy will have to move with me if I am really going to live at Ian’s!”
Su Han was taken aback to hear that Lu Jia’er wanted to bring Amy with her. “That is not okay. You can leave, but Amy has to stay!”
Lu Jia’er raised her eyebrows. She picked up her flowers and headed toward her bedroom, with Su Han following her. “If you take Amy away with you, then I will move to Ian’s place with you!”
Lu Jia’er placed the bouquet of kapok on her dressing table and then turned around and said to Su Han, “Jason would break up with you if he knew what you were thinking.”
At the mere mention of Jason, Su Han fell to the bed with a worried frown, wilted like a withered lettuce.
Seeing that Su Han with a dusty frown, Lu Jia’er stared at her and asked, “What is going on with you and Jason?”
Su Han looked up and heaved a deep sigh. “I don’t know. But there is something strange after we came back from Thailand!”
“Something strange? What do you mean?” Lu Jia’er pulled over a chair to sit down and asked Su Han.
“Kind of nonchalant!” Su Han used those words to describe the current status of her relations.h.i.+p with Jason.
Lu Jia’er was aware that Su Han rarely left the house since she was busy writing to meet deadlines. “You must have left Jason out in the cold when you are so busy writing!” Lu Jia’er said.
“No, it’s not that. No matter how busy I am, I will always give him a call or send him a WeChat message. It’s just, there is something about his att.i.tude. I don’t know how to put it. But I feel weird!” Su Han stated her feelings honestly.
“Didn’t you start your relations.h.i.+p recently? Jason and I haven’t been working together for long. I cannot say that I know him well. However, I believe that he is not a womanizer that plays with people’s feelings!” Lu Jia’er stated.
“I don’t know. But how come I accepted him so quickly?” Su Han herself felt puzzled about this matter.
Lu Jia’er was confounded to see Su Han like this. Just as Su Han said, since they came back from Thailand, there had been strange things happening around Lu Jia’er as well. It was baffling and she did feel weird.
Lu Jia’er patted Su Han’s shoulder. “Su Han, maybe, you are thinking too much. You have been busy and I suppose Jason has been occupied these days as well. When you are free, go out with him and enjoy a dinner to warm up your feelings!”
Su Han nodded quietly. Then, she said to Lu Jia’er with a serious att.i.tude, “But if you are really moving out, do not take Amy away. Let her stay to keep me company!”
Lu Jia’er broke into laughter to hear this. “I haven’t decided if I want to move out or not! Why are you in such a hurry?”
It was deep in the night. At the moment, Lu Jia’er, who was lying on the bed, had not been able to fall asleep. She was staring at the bouquet of kapok on her dressing table. The thing that kept her awake was the idea of moving in together proposed by Ian.
If she were to describe the experience since she met Ian, then it was too wonderful for words.
She had never thought she would be in a relations.h.i.+p. She didn’t think she had the ability to fall in love with anyone. However, when he came around, all the defense in her heart was taken down. That day, that sunset, that man, she remembered everything vividly. That experience showed her that in this world, there was a man that came at the right time and then stole her heart.
Lu Jia’er touched her chest to feel her heart pounding. She was picturing Ian’s handsome face in her mind, those eyes that were filled with tenderness and the lips that were so s.e.xy…
Lu Jia’er could not help but put on a sweet smile at this thought. However, suddenly, she became absent-minded for a moment. Once again, Ian’s face was replaced with that of Jin Xiangdong. It was only an instant but Lu Jia’er felt surprised, and even terrified.
This was not the first time. Why would this happen? She did not even know Jin Xiangdong before the car accident!
But why would he say that she was his girlfriend and even stole her kiss…
Lu Jia’er felt her mind was in complete chaos. After a few seconds, she soon calmed herself down.
Maybe, the car accident had made her frail and sensitive in her body and mind. Lu Jia’er closed her eyes so that she would not have a bee in her mind. Soon, she fell asleep quietly.
Then, she had a dream of her and Ian having fun and chasing each other around by the sea.
The soothing sea breeze touched her face. Her feet could feel the softness of the sand. Lu Jia’er was chasing after Ian with a big smile, “Stop there! Wait for me!”
Ian, who was running, stopped all of a sudden. Lu Jia’er b.u.mped into him directly. Afraid that she would fall, Ian held her body up with his big hands. Their bodies were pressed together and their hearts were pounding.
Lu Jia’er lowered her head, shyly. A few seconds later, she heard some words of affection. “Jiajia, I love you!”
