But the other possibility was a slap to the face. How could it be? How could she be… an AI!
Lu Jia’er went back to her bedroom after greeting Amy upon returning to her apartment.
She locked her bedroom door and stepped in front of the full-length mirror mounted on her closet. Slowly, she took off all her clothes. She examined herself in the mirror. She had a nice hour-gla.s.s figure with smooth, fair skin. Starting from her neck and shoulders, she reached out and stroked every single inch of her skin, attempting to locate that so-called switch found on AI.
However, Lu Jia’er’s search yielded nothing. Next, much like what the female characters would do in the movies, she pinched the skin around the waist with quite a bit of strength. But, instead of lifting up any skin, the pain made her frown.
Lu Jia’er stared into the mirror again. She was not convinced that she was an AI because she could find all the characteristics of an average female on her.
A moment later, she changed into a bathrobe and went to take a shower.
Afterwards, she picked a beige dress to put on and grabbed her bag.
Seeing this, Amy asked, “Professor Lu, are you not having dinner at home, either?”
Lu Jia’er had not seen Su Han yet. “Is Su Han out?” she asked.
“Yes. She is out on a date and mentioned that she would not be coming back for dinner.” Amy answered.
Lu Jia’er nodded. “Tell Su Han that I am not coming back home tonight.”
Amy was surprised. “Professor Lu, are you going on a business trip?”
Lu Jia’er did not want to bother Amy with a long explanation. “No. Stay at home and be good. Goodbye.”
Amy sent Lu Jia’er to the door. “Be careful.”
Once again, Lu Jia’er was on her way to Jin Xiangdong’s villa.
Jin Xiangdong was not at home. In the afternoon, after he sent Lu Jia’er to Professor Han Yi’s psychology research center, he had some business to take care of.
Ake cooked a bowl of noodles for Lu Jia’er.
Lu Jia’er finished the noodles and noticed the game of Go on the end table. She asked Ake to play a few rounds with her.
While they were playing, Lu Jia’er queried, “Ake, has your master talked about me more often recently?”
“Of course he has!” Ake nodded.
“What did he say about me?” Lu Jia’er smiled. She was curious.
“Originally I believed that the relations.h.i.+p had ended. He had been drinking frequently. Sometimes, Jason would come here to keep him company but I am not allowed to listen to their conversations!” Ake replied.
“Why wouldn’t they let you listen?” Lu Jia’er continued to probe.
“I don’t know. Probably it’s because I cannot drink with my master.” Ake guessed.
Lu Jia’er smiled while thinking: right, AI could not drink. Whereas in her case, she could eat, drink and there was no difference between her and a normal human being. As such, her a.s.sumption would appear to be ridiculous.
Ake continued, “It is fortunate that you didn’t break up with my master!”
“Why is that?” Lu Jia’er wondered, smiling.
“Because of you, my master’s life is vivid and interesting.” Ake claimed.
Lu Jia’er continued to probe further into this matter. “Ake, have you ever heard your master mention anything about memory replacement?”
Ake blinked in confusion. “Memory replacement?”
“Yes. Has he mentioned it?” Lu Jia’er nodded and asked a follow-up question.
Ake shook his head. “No, he hasn’t!”
It appeared that Jin Xiangdong had kept her matter quite confidential. Few people would know. But this was exactly where Lu Jia’er felt most puzzled, it was as if Jin Xiangdong was withholding the information on purpose!
Lu Jia’er gazed at Ake for a few seconds before she started again, “Ake, do you know if your master has any special abilities?”
“Special abilities?” Ake blinked, wondering.
“When he is wounded, he bleeds little and his wounds can heal quickly!” Lu Jia’er explained.
Ake asked upon hearing this, “Have you witnessed it?”
“A few times!” Lu Jia’er gave a frank reply.
“What did the master tell you?” Ake kept the questions going.
“He said that he is Ironman!” Lu Jia’er replied.
Ake burst into laughter when hearing this answer. “Ha ha ha, Ironman!”
“Ake, what did your master tell you?” Lu Jia’er pursued.
“If my master’s final explanation is that he is Ironman, then he is Ironman!” Ake smiled.
Clearly, Lu Jia’er found this answer unsatisfactory. “Ake, you are not an honest friend!”
When Ake was about to answer, he heard the door open. “Master is back!” With that said, Ake went to greet Jin Xiangdong in delight.
Jin Xiangdong went to the living room and saw Lu Jia’er and the Go board on the end table. “You are playing Go?” The corners of his mouth raised up.
“Yes!” Lu Jia’er smiled.
“Did you win?” While asking, Jin Xiangdong walked over and sat down next to Lu Jia’er.
“Ake won twice.” Lu Jia’er said.
Jin Xiangdong took a look at the board. Having heard this answer, he tried to seek approval from her. “Do you want me to stage a comeback for you?”
“Sure!” Lu Jia’er nodded.
Following that, Jin Xiangdong took over Lu Jia’er’s place and played against Ake while she observed as an on-looker. Now, she had gained a sense of what it was like when experts were playing.
Jin Xiangdong was evidently a much better player than Lu Jia’er. That being said, he still lost to Ake, a powerful compet.i.tor.
When Ake won, he said to Jin Xiangdong with manners and politeness, “Thank you!”
Jin Xiangdong turned over to Lu Jia’er. “Sorry that I cannot deliver on my promise. The comeback was not successful!”
Lu Jia’er chuckled. “Ake is the one teaching you how to play. It is only normal that you would lose to Ake!”
“Master, you have progressed by leaps and bounds. You must be at least about 6 dan grading rank if we are using the standard dan grading.” Ake concluded.
Lu Jia’er smiled. “An accomplished disciple owes his accomplishment to his great teacher!”
“You flatter me!” Ake was quite humble. “Now that master is back, I will not intrude!”
Ake went into the study. Lu Jia’er turned to Jin Xiangdong who was next to her and said, “Ake treats your words as imperial edict.”
Jin Xiangdong grinned. “Doesn’t Amy listen to you?”
Lu Jia’er chuckled. “Yes, she does.”
Jin Xiangdong added, “They are AI. Of course they will obey orders.”
“They are obeying orders with no strings attached because they do not possess self-awareness.” Lu Jia’er shared her view. “Say one day AI have self-awareness, what will happen?
Hearing this, Jin Xiangdong stared at her for a few seconds before he replied, “You are worried about the future of AI?”
Lu Jia’er looked back at him, wondering if she should share her doubts with him. How would he react when he heard?
Eventually, she did not say that, and instead she said, “Ace, tonight… I want to stay here!” With that said, she could not help but blush.
Jin Xiangdong was surprised, “You want to stay for the night?”
Lu Jia’er nodded. “Yes!”
For that moment, Jin Xiangdong was not sure what Lu Jia’er was thinking. So, he proposed, “Then I will have Ake prepare the guest room for you.”
Lu Jia’er lowered her head, mumbling, “Are you really expecting me to sleep in the guest room?”
Though her voice was low, Jin Xiangdong heard it anyway. An idea came to his mind. He put on a meaningful grin, “If you don’t like the guest room, I will give you my master bedroom.”
Lu Jia’er looked up at once. Noticing that Jin Xiangdong was snickering, she hit him gently.
Jin Xiangdong’s grin grew wider. He whispered to her ears, “Or, does this mean that you want to decipher my body?”
It sure was unique to call sleeping together as deciphering his body. While her intention was not spelled out in so many direct words, Lu Jia’er felt her cheeks burning up at once. As a matter of fact, the point of coming here tonight was to sleep with him and at the same time, seek proof for something.
Hence, while she flushed to the ears, Lu Jia’er no longer tried to gloss over her intentions. “Yes, I want to decipher your body.”
Jin Xiangdong was filled with both happiness and worry to find Lu Jia’er being so frank. He could not help but feel a surge of urge in his heart when looking at her flushed cheeks. He stroke her face and asked, “Are you being serious?”
Lu Jia’er really had the conviction that Jin Xiangdong was so funnily annoying. Though she made the decision based on a spur of the moment, Lu Jia’er was a person that would walk the talk. “A word spoken is an arrow let fly!”
Hearing this, Jin Xiangdong fixed his gaze on her for a few seconds. Then, he picked her up. He carried her in his arms, left the living room and went to the staircase.
He stepped on, one step at a time. Lu Jia’er put her arms around his neck, her face blushed and her heart pounding. At the same time, she was looking forward to what would happen next.
According to her current memory, she never was so intimate with Jin Xiangdong at this level. Of course, she was not sure given that her memory was not complete.
He carried her and they made their way to his bedroom. It was s.p.a.cious with a harmonious color mix. The decoration was simple. Jin Xiangdong did not put her on the bed. Rather, he carried her into the bathroom.
Lu Jia’er was the one that proposed to stay for the night. That being said, she was still nervous. “I… I have already showered!”
Hearing this, Jin Xiangdong raised her chin up using his fingers and said in a deep voice, “I see that this was premeditated.”
Lu Jia’er bit her red lips but did not deny it. “Yes.”
Jin Xiangdong’s smile grew wider. She was so honest.
Lu Jia’er felt a bit awkward. She was not that h.o.r.n.y. It was just… that she wanted to seek proof, to see if she really was a real woman.
