“Jia’er is in love with you? She is with you? I don’t understand this, I can’t think straight!” Su Han was utterly confused. “Isn’t Jia’er’s boyfriend Ian?”
Jin Xiangdong reiterated his point. “Her boyfriend is me!”
Su Han felt her mind was filled with scattered thoughts. “Did you do something to Jia’er?”
Jin Xiangdong glanced up at her but denied it. “No, I did not!”
Su Han’s jaw dropped. She continued to stare at Jin Xiangdong. “How did you…”
Jin Xiangdong could tell how surprised Su Han was. “Do you have a problem with that?” He asked, coldly.
“Of course I do!” Su Han was completely in a daze and was dying to find out what happened during the last two days.
“Speak!” Jin Xiangdong used one word to reply.
Su Han was trying to find a cla.s.sy way to put it, but in the end, she still had to put it in easy-to-understand terms. “Did you persuade her in bed?”
Jason, who was by the doorway, could not help but cough from choking with surprise. Jin Xiangdong grinned when he heard those words. “Did Jia’er tell you that?”
Su Han denied it. “No! That’s just what I a.s.sumed.”
Jin Xiangdong replied, “I prefer to call it the resonance between two lovers!”
Su Han glared at Jin Xiangdong with doubt in her eyes. Based on her understanding of Lu Jia’er’s character, there was no way that Lu Jia’er would have a change of heart in such a short time. Therefore, Su Han issued a warning to Jin Xiangdong, “If you have coerced her or imprisoned her, I will call the police right away!”
Once again, Jason choked upon hearing her words. Jin Xiangdong cast a glance to Su Han and replied, “Writers really do have wild imaginations.”
Su Han realized that her words might be misconstrued. That being said, she was still consumed with the worry about Lu Jia’er. “It has nothing to do with the fact that I am a writer! Jia’er is my good friend. Of course I care about her safety!”
Jin Xiangdong explained in his own defense, “I am not that boring!”
“Who can tell? Cats can hide their claws!” Su Han blurted out.
Jin Xiangdong’s mouth twitched but he said nothing else in reply. He opened the closet to pack Lu Jia’er’s clothes. However, he had no idea where to start. After all, he had no experience with packing woman’s clothes.
Jason was br.i.m.m.i.n.g with laughter. He was about to ask Su Han to help when her phone began to ring.
It was from Lu Jia’er. Su Han picked up her cell phone at once and hung up after a short conversation. Afterwards, she turned to Jin Xiangdong. “I don’t know how Lu Jia’er became your girlfriend overnight… But from her tone, I didn’t catch anything out of the ordinary. Now, get out of the way. I will pack her stuff!” With that said, Su Han stepped alongside Jin Xiangdong..
Jin Xiangdong gave her a look and stepped away so that she could start packing.
Soon, per Lu Jia’er’s request, Su Han had packed some clothes, books and files and put them into the suitcase with her laptop.
Su Han pushed the suitcase into the living room. “Done!”
Jin Xiangdong stood up and walked to Su Han. “Thank you!” Then, he took the suitcase and was ready to leave.
Right at that moment, Su Han stopped him. “You are going to leave, just like that?”
“Yes. Jia’er is waiting for me back home.” Jin Xiangdong said.
Su Han wanted to say something but stopped on a second thought. “Well… Ace…”
“Is there anything else?” Jin Xiangdong asked.
Su Han scratched her forehead. “Treat Jia’er well.”
“I will!” Jin Xiangdong gave a short answer.
After Jin Xiangdong left, the only ones in the living room were Jason, Su Han and Amy.
Su Han sat next to Jason and looked at him. “Don’t you find this strange?”
“A little.” Jason nodded.
Su Han frowned. “It’s not just a little. It is completely strange. Jia’er is not a fickle woman when it comes to love!”
“Neither is Ace.” Jason stated.
Su Han cast a glance at him. “Of course you would be on Ace’s side. It’s just that I think this entire matter is strange.”
Jason looked into her eyes. “Love is strange in itself, and quite mysterious!”
“Maybe…” Su Han, who did not have any knowledge regarding the specific details, could not comment too much. “But for me, I will not change my heart so suddenly!”
The way that Jason looked at her was complicated. He reached out and patted Su Han’s head.
This move made Su Han blush uncontrollably. “Jason, what about you? Will you change your feelings for no reason? So abruptly?”
This question struck a nerve within Jason. After his conversation with Jin Xiangdong, Jason had been pondering how exactly to deal with his relations.h.i.+p with Su Han. Slowly, Jason, looked away and said, “Yes.”
Su Han was astonished. “What did you say?”
Jason clenched his hands and he was having b.u.t.terflies in his stomach. Eventually, he worked up the courage and made himself clear. “I have changed my mind!”
Hearing his words, Su Han stared at him with suspicion. “Jason, today is not April Fool’s!”
Jason turned to her again and took heart of grace. “Su Han… let’s take a break!”
Su Han turned pale at those words. “A… break?”
“We don’t make a proper couple!” Jason found those words hard to speak out loud.
Su Han was completely stunned. Due to recent events, she could not digest this much information. Just a moment ago, she was still wondering about Lu Jia’er’s relations.h.i.+p. And now suddenly she was receiving heavy news related to her.
“Not proper?” Su Han gazed at Jason in disbelief.
“I think it’s better that we remain just friends.” Jason said.
Su Han glared at Jason. “Friends?”
Jason looked into her eyes. For the first time, he felt rotten to be an unfaithful man. Even so, he had to nod. “Yes! I hope we can be friends.”
Su Han covered her forehead with her hand. She found this news difficult to take in. Still, she did not show her anger, or her pain or hysteria. All of a sudden, she looked up and smiled at Jason. “If we are not suitable for each other, then so be it! It’s fine that we stop going out. No, this is not exactly a break-up given that we were not together for long. There is no relations.h.i.+p between us. We just had several meals together. Being friends is good!”
Jason was surprised by how calm Su Han was. However, her words did not make him relieved. If anything, he felt more pain. At the moment, she was like an ignorant child that had zero idea of the truth.
As far as she knew, she was a human being, a writer. Little did she know that she was an AI.
“Aren’t you mad? Don’t you think I am a jerk?” Jason asked.
“What is there to be mad about? As for you being a jerk, well, a little bit.” Su Han gave a candid answer.
Jason forced a smile. “Not just a little. Completely!”
Su Han smiled at him. “You are not that bad. You sensed that we are not suitable for each other, so you proposed that we should break up. You are better than someone that only wants to prolong this kind of mess. From another perspective, you are responsible for finding your own happiness!”
Faced with Su Han with her rational reasons, Jason was struggling with words. “Su Han, you are a good person. I am not!”
Su Han laughed. “Now those are words I like to hear. I am good. I am beautiful as well as smart. Besides, I can make good money!” She said with confidence.
Jason smiled as well. “Yes. I am garbage!”
“You don’t have to say that! You cannot use force to sustain a relations.h.i.+p!” Su Han said.
To be honest, when a guy broke up with a girl, the guy would rather the girl be unreasonable and make a scene, hurl invectives, or even beat him up so that she could vent her anger. That would be better than being considerate. Jason was put in a pa.s.sive spot so he blamed himself.
Jason did not know what words could describe his emotions right now. “Su Han, I’d rather you slapped me.” He said, at last.
Su Han burst into laughter on hearing him say this. “Amy, do you think beating someone up is good?” She asked.
Amy shook her head. “No!”
“Did you hear that? Even Amy knows that beating people up is bad. People say that beating is a sign of affection and cursing is a sign of love. But since we are no longer a couple, let’s avoid this cliche.” Su Han smiled.
Jason admired how sensible Su Han was. If she were not an AI, he would not have let her go.
Jason said, eventually, “Su Han, I am sorry. But I also need to thank you.”
Su Han looked at him. “You are welcome!”
Silence fell for a few seconds as they looked at each other. Su Han bit her lower lip. “Aren’t you going to leave?”
Jason came back to his senses. “No, I am not leaving.” He shook his head.
“What do you mean?” Su Han looked at him.
“Professor Lu is moving into Ace’s place. I want to live in her bedroom for now.” Jason said.
“What do you mean?” Su Han repeated her question.
“I’ll live here from now on.” Jason explained again.
Su Han stared at him. “Jason, were you… fooling me?”
“No, the break-up is real and living here is also real.” Jason reiterated.
“What is this now?” Su Han was puzzled.
“From now on, you are my roommate!” Jason stressed his point.
“Who said yes?” Su Han asked.
“Professor Lu gave her consent. But you and I will only be roommates.” Jason emphasized again.
“To h.e.l.l with roommate!” Su Han could not help but hurl foul language. “Are you trying to trick me into living with you because you are jealous that Ace and Jia’er are living together?” She glared at him.
“That is not it!” Jason denied it. “The break-up is real. Me living here as well!”
For that moment, Su Han was completely confused. She began to call Jason names. “You are a madman!”
