Jin Xiangdong’s lips curled into a smile when he saw the two of them echoing each other. However, he couldn’t remember when he had last wheedled Jin Shengping.
Jin Xiangdong smiled and asked, “Father, do you miss the times when I would try to wheedle you?”
Hearing this, Jin Shengping paused for a moment. Then, his eyes flashed with wisdom and energy as he smiled. “Yes, I really miss it. It’s a pity that those times will never return.”
The smile on Jin Xiangdong’s face grew wider as he replied, “Love becomes memories only at that moment it’s lost.”
Lu Jia’er looked at the father and son who had a harmonious relations.h.i.+p and couldn’t help but feel a little envious. Jin Xiangdong naturally loved his father very much, and Jin Shengping doted on him so much that she even felt proud of him.
As she thought about herself, Lu Jia’er couldn’t help but feel a little conflicted. She was envious of others, which meant that she didn’t have any fatherly love. During her developmental years, Lu Jia’er lacked fatherly love. Her biological father was violent towards her which caused her to lose her hearing. Although her foster father treated her well, he almost raped her.
Compared to Jin Xiangdong, her original family was actually so terrible. For a moment, Lu Jia’er felt that she was not worthy of Jin Xiangdong.
Noticing that Lu Jia’er was distracted, Jin Xiangdong reached under the table and gently placed his hand on her thigh.
Lu Jia’er instantly snapped out of her trance and stopped letting her imagination run wild. She smiled and listened to Jin Shengping talk about all the embarra.s.sing things Jin Xiangdong had done when he was young. The dining room was instantly filled with laughter.
After the meal, the three of them chatted for a while more. During their conversation, Lu Jia’er could clearly feel that Jin Shengping liked her, and she was both happy and worried about him. Would his approval of her change due to her being an AI?
Lu Jia’er didn’t want to break the harmonious atmosphere. She didn’t want their relations.h.i.+p to change because of her.
Before they knew it, it was already ten o’clock. Jin Sheng got up and returned to his room to rest so Jin Xiangdong and Lu Jia’er also stood up.
Jin Xiangdong said, “Father, I still have something to discuss with you.” With that, he turned to Lu Jia’er beside him and said, “Jia’er, go upstairs first.”
Lu Jia’er knew that he wanted to talk to Jin Shengping alone, but she had already changed her mind. She reached out to grab Jin Xiangdong and said, “It’s getting late, let’s talk tomorrow. Mr. Jin, good night!” With that, she dragged Jin Xiangdong upstairs.
After closing the door, Jin Xiangdong hugged Lu Jia’er and pinned her against the door. He looked down at her and said, “If you drag me up so anxiously, my father will misunderstand.”
Lu Jia’er knew that her earlier actions were inappropriate, but she still had the right to do so. She looked up at him and asked knowingly, “What are you misunderstanding exactly?”
“Every moment in spring is precious.” Jin Xiangdong replied with a smile.
Upon hearing this, Lu Jia’er blushed and wrapped her arms around Jin Xiangdong’s waist. “It’s a misunderstanding.”
Jin Xiangdong liked it when she took the initiative, but he was well aware of Lu Jia’er’s concern. He could not help but reach out and stroke her hair. “Jia’er, you may be special, but I’m not ordinary either.”
Lu Jia’er shook her head at him. “Don’t tell him about me for now!”
Jin Xiangdong stared at her for a few seconds before saying, “Face it bravely.”
Lu Jia’er would never retreat easily when faced with trouble, but at this moment, she insisted on her own decision. “Don’t say it.”
Jin Xiangdong’s hand caressed Lu Jia’er’s face. Her face had such a delicate sensation that he couldn’t bear to part with it. His deep and pleasant voice sounded, “Jia’er, it’s not that I’m unlucky to have met you. It’s the greatest blessing in my life. I know you’re special. You know my secret. We are a match made in heaven.”
