The CEO's Lovely Wife Chapter 148 - 148 She's Awake

Under Lexus' worried eyes and anxious and heavy heart, he noticed October stirring up on the bed. His eyes that were slightly red and dead seemed to come alive in an instant. It became even more apparent when October scrunched up her brows and nose, as if waking up. The hand holding October's hand tightened ever so slightly.

"Mm..." October slowly fluttered her eyes open. It was blurry at first and she had to blink a couple of times before she made a clearer view of her surrounding. At the same time, her view was nothing but blue, a pretty and mesmerizing color that was enough to get her madly drunk, even though she already are.

Her eyes flashed softly and a smile bloomed on her face, making all the more dazzling to Lexus. 

"Wifey...!" Lexus choked. His mouth was cry and the relief washed over him. Even if he knew that she will be alright, as per the doctor's statement before, he still can't sit still. It was fine for now, but what if something like this will happen again in the future? 

' No! I will not let this kind of thing happen again. Definitely not !' Determination showed on his piercing eyes as he stared at his lovely wife smiling at him ever so gently. He vowed that he will protect her with all his got. 

Feeling the cold hand holding on hers that seemed to shake lightly, October's heart was filled with warmth. This cold man was always there for here, doing everything he had just to please her. Even now, he looked so nervous and holding onto her as if she will disappear any moment. 

"Hubby, you look like you're about to cry." October said jokingly and let out a giggle when he saw his turning dark after her statement. 

This giggle of hers, even though it was quiet, it was still heard so clearly by the people inside the room. It was like bells ringing softly and gently with a soft breeze of suns.h.i.+ne in it that instantly eased their anxious hearts.

Lexus only sighed and a small smile made its way on his face. It was cold-face no more. His expression was that of a loving husband looking affectionately on his wife. 

He pressed his lips on the back of her hand and said, "I'm glad you're alright." 

It was as if the two were the only people in the world. They only had eyes for each other and it never occured to them that there were green eyes looking at them being so lovey-dovey without a care in the world. 

"I'm not that fragile." October raised an eyebrow. She had never been one who gets sick so easily aside from that one time when she was young when her mother just died recently and she got a high fever and her body was aching all over as if cras.h.i.+ng all of her bones. However, despite her pleas of seeing him, her father never took care of her nor visiting her in her room while she was sick.

After that time, she made sure to properly eat and be healthy. With that, there will even be a year in which she will not catch any cold, cough, or fever. So this will be a first for her that she had collapsed. On top of that was that she collapsed in front of her secretary. 

"Right! Where's Xixi?" October looked around but no Xixi was there. However, her gaze landed on the bitter smile of an old man. Her eyes widened in pleasant surprise. "Grandpa!"

Saying this, October sat up slowly with the help of Lexus. The man took advantage of this and sat behind October and wrapped his arms around her slim waist and rested his chin on her shoulder. At this great deal of intimacy, in front of other people, October's face burned bright red. She pry his arms but he was stubbornly clinging onto her. 

Defeated, she gave up and just let him hug her from the back and looked at her grandpa, mother-in-law, and best friend who was winking a lot at her way. She ignored Ma Rong's weird expression and turned to her grandpa and mother-in-law.

"Grandpa, mother, I'm sorry to have worried you. And thank you." October sincerely said with a soft expression on her usually blank face. 

"Mm. I just wanted to give you a surprise visit yet only to witness you being carried by this (b.a.s.t.a.r.d) man, faint. If I did not see this personally and didn't give you a visit, I'm pretty sure you will not tell me this incident." Grandpa He harrumped and pointed this out, making October feel a little uncomfortable.

It was because she knew that what her grandpa had said was true. She loved her grandpa and he was the only living blood relative she had that she treasures. With that, she does not want to worry him. 

"We're glad that you're okay now. If you were not, then..." h.e.l.l will befall in City D . 

Mother Song did not finish her sentence as a meaningful smile was on her face. However, even if she did not finish what she was saying, October can roughly guess what she wanted to say. Her body stiffened and looked at her mother-in-law and grandpa who nodded in agreement. 

"Berry! I'm also worried about you, you know." Ma Rong said with a pained look on his handsome face. He was looking at her as if she was such a despicable woman who cheated on him.

"Yeah. Thanks." October curtly said. Her voice was cold and even. Despite this, there were softness in her eyes as she looked at Ma Rong. However, the man was clearly out of it and did not notice her expression as her cold words echoed repeatedly in his mind.

He could not believe that her best friend would still be so cold and just heartless...only to him ah! How can she do this to him?!  

Ma Rong felt even more dejected as he slumped and lowed his head. Such a cold woman! He wanted to cry but lack tears.

"You brat! Stop touching my granddaughter already!" Grandpa He roared suddenly. He was greatly displeased with Lexus earlier but now, seeing how shameless he was and had even started harra.s.sing his dear granddaughter in front of them was really irritating. His eyes burned red with fury as he viciously pointed his cane toward Lexus.

"Hmph! Grandpa, I respect you but you can't order me around. Besides, the one I am hugging is my wife. This much is nothing." Lexus smugly said as his provoking eyes looked toward Grandpa He. Suddenly, he felt a sting on one of his arm making him frown. 

October just pinched him.

"Don't talk like that to my grandpa. Atleast, not in my presence." October said with a frown on her gorgeous face.

Grandpa He looked at his granddaughter with a bitter expression. He felt betrayed. It would have been great if she only said the first sentence, but then she added that last bit that instantly poured cold water on his head. This...his granddaughter has started to show her evilness. Was this influenced by this man?

Thinking this, he fiercely glared at the handsome beast hugging October. He gritted his teeth fiercely as he thought of how much he wanted to slice Lexus up to a thousand pieces.
