The CEO's Lovely Wife Chapter 70 - 70 Grandpa Is Cool

October was looking at the graphs on her laptop with a really serious look on her pristine face. With legs crossed over the other and hand supporting her chin, she looked poised and regal.

October was  a figure admired by many in Halo Company, be it men or women, old and young. Even if she lacks emotions and does not show expressions to them, the employees just could not help themselves but to take notice of this dazzling and charismatic a.s.sistant Director of the Marketing Department, the one they called Ice Director. Her presence alone screams attention. It was like she was born to be a leader; a strong, confident, and level-headed leader.

October squinted her eyes as she concentrated on a.n.a.lyzing the graphs on the report and thought of what to make of it. As she looked more on it, she could not help but comment in satisfaction, "Hmm...seems like the advertis.e.m.e.nt that I had Manager Bei and his team revised was effective. As expected of Manager Bei."

Nodding her head, she typed words after words to make out the information she got basing on the report before her and continued to study the graphs and other tables that came with it.

While she was finalizing her report, she suddenly received a call from her Grandpa. Her eyes became unfocused for a moment as she looked at the caller ID. This would be first time that she received a call from her grandpa since the day he abruptly ended the call as soon as he heard about her sudden marriage and pregnancy.

Instantly, October felt remorse. Her grandpa clearly did not take that blow too well. No matter, of all the people surrounding her, she wanted the most important person to her accept the man she chose for herself. She knew that she was being stubborn about this, but it would really make her happy if her grandpa would really give his blessings to them.

Gripping her phone with her hand as resolve flashed through her eyes, October decided to answer the call that have rang for quite a while now. "Grandpa."

Grandpa He immediately became emotional as soon as he heard the cold yet melodious voice of his beloved granddaughter. His eyes lowered and the atmosphere in the car became more somber that it was before.

a.s.sistant Ke who was driving the car looked at his master through the rear-view mirror. He saw the conflicted look on his master's aged face. As he was, a.s.sistant Ke doesn't know how to somehow comfort his master and could not also offer any help at this moment. He could not help but sigh and keep silent. The only person that can really affect his master to this degree was his granddaughter and the only person who can lift his master's spirits was also her.

"Lan'er..." Grandpa He called as his eyes flashed some sadness. It was even more evident in his lonely voice where October also noticed. It was as if he was on the verge of bursting into tears.

October's eyes lowered as her ears perked on the pet name she had when she was younger. "You're the only person left who calls me that so intimately, Grandpa."

Ever since her mother left, no one called her so intimately as her mother and grandpa. All other people did call her that but some were just trying to get close to her because of her social standing. Slowly, she disliked her name that was reminded her of being taken advantage of.

"Don't be silly. You know that's not true." Grandpa He let out a sigh as he looked out of his window and into the bustling streets.

"Mm." October also got up from her chair and stood by the window and stared at the clear blue sky. Even if the sun was glaring hard at her, she doesn't seem too bothered about it and continued to bathe in it.

After a minute of silence, Grandpa He was the first one to break it, trying to change the subject in the process. "Let's have dinner tonight."

"Mm. If I'll go visit you in City A, let's eat together at every meal if you want." October said with a firm voice. She has to at least repay her grandpa for taking good care of her all through these years. Because if not her grandpa, she would have been a goner by now, aimlessly walking in the streets.

Grandpa He chuckled in amus.e.m.e.nt at his overly serious granddaughter. He then opened his mouth with his eyes showing his unmasked excitement. "I'm already at City D."

October fell silent when she heard his words. However, it was only for a split second before she recovered; but before she could even say anything, she heard her grandpa said in a very jovial voice.

"Surprised, right?" Grandpa He was pleased with himself and it can be seen from the smug smile on his face. "Now do you know how cool your grandpa is, right?"

After hearing that, October really can't say anything now to refute him and ruin his fun. With that, she couldn't help but just sigh.

"So let's have dinner tonight."

Is it okay to bring Lexus with me tonight to introduce him to Grandpa? However, considering his explosive personality and unpredictable att.i.tude, especially when angry, I can't be a.s.sure that Grandpa will not do something to Lexus.

While she was feeling conflicted about this tricky situation, she suddenly heard her grandpa say things she did not expect at all, making her totally flabbergasted.

"Also, bring that (d.a.m.n) man with you. Hmph!" Grandpa He was just about to curse at Lexus but fortunately stopped himself on time. If he slipped his tongue, then he doesn't know how she would react to that.

Even if he doesn't want to and would rather spend time with his dearest granddaughter, he still could not make himself do that. He doesn't want to be hated by October. With that in mind, he will have to compromise with all of this for the sake of her happiness.

"Grandpa…" October started as her voice had a trace of worry in it. However, before she could continue what she was saying, she was then cut off by him.

"Just bring him along." Grandpa He then sighed as if all of his strength were leaving his body as soon as he uttered those words.
