Back at the 21st hideout they're about to take in total, things were going smoothly until Nightin received a sudden message from the Pyre wolves platoon. "General, we have a message for you from one of the leaders. He says that he has a message from the leaders to convey."

"I see, bring him back to me in one piece." Nightin told the commander before closing the communication card device. Closing his eyes to take a rest, he sighs. Dark Fang with his improved senses after a week of constant alertness, was currently laying on the wall next to Nightin. They were in ancient ruins right now, historical artifacts of the past may be a common sight, but the pa.s.sage of time has sheathed their glamour and they're nothing now but rare material.

"Young master."

"You agreed not to call me by that term, are you going back on your words now?" Nightin teased as a crescent formed on his exhausted face.

"Nightin, I have a feeling that things aren't as simple as they seem on the surface. It's just a hunch, but I have a feeling that we're being lured in and that the message is only a trap that they devised to trick us." Dark Fang warns as he jumps onto one of the archstone pillars.

"Have you ever thought about it from another direction? Don't you find it weird that I was sent on this mission when the Voyager Emperor has so many subjects under him that wants to enter the battlefield and feast on the blood of the enemies? All this was a ploy of someone else to begin with.

"But who would be bothered to spend so much time dealing with you? You have just arrived at this Overlord realm not long ago."

"It doesn't really matter, I'll just take things as they come." Nightin says, his body entering the state of cultivation as he prepared to charge through the second gate.

His cultivation time may have been short and only about a month or so has pa.s.sed since he stepped into the Martial Emperor realm, but the stage of sudden realisation and enlightenment that he received brought about tremendous benefits.

Nightin was in a state of focus and when the system notification message disturbed him, he felt panic for a moment. Only calming down after realising that the system had compiled the records of others for the Martial Emperor realm into a book and that the book was a.s.sisting him with the breakthrough right now.

"System, where did you get all these records from?" Nightin questioned upon perceiving the miraculous effects of the awakening records, it wasn't just helping him with this breakthrough, it was stuffing him with a whole lot of information and paving the path to the future seven gates for him.

"Host, please do not doubt the credibility of the system. Though everything I have given you up till now seems impossible and shouldn't exist, just know that you'll receive all the answers one day when you step into the Overlord realm."

Nightin wasn't in the slightest afraid of the awakening records failing him right now, since the system had already brought him this far and entrusted him with this awakening records, then he is willing to take the gamble and believe that the system means him no harm.

"I'm still not ent.i.tled to even the slightest amount of information at this point of time?"

"Nighin, all seven platoon of yours right now are gathered around the entrance area, Silver and his army have arrived as well after receiving my call, do I lead them in now that you're free?" Dark Fang asks politely, still unable to treat Nightin as an equal despite calling him by his name.

"Yes, bring them in." Nightin replied calmly as he stood up and walked towards the entrance, saying again "It's fine, I'll meet them myself." Changing his mind, Nightin got Dark Fang to stand at the side while he meets his guests at the entrance.

"Hey, Nightin, why did your guard call for me all of a sudden?" Ash asks the moment he steps into the ancient ruins.

"I received information that one of the bandit leaders caught has a message for us, from one of the three leaders." Nightin says calmly, his voice so cold and devoid of emotions that it made Ash worry for him. Where did the happy go lucky rival he met initially go? Is he already dead or did he just decide to trap himself within the cages first until the time for him to appear arises again?

"Where is that guard of yours right now?"

"Reporting to both generals, I've managed to bring the guard here in one piece." The Pyre wolf commander half knelt on the ground and reports.

Nightin smirks and asks the captive "So, what information do you have for me from that particular leader of yours that you mentioned."

"The captive hesitated for a moment before asking timidly "Will you let me live here alive if I confess everything I know?"

Nightin laughed, his laughter resounding across the ruins as he said coldly "Someone like you wouldn't pose any threat to me in your entire lifetime, if that's the all that you request for, then you might deserve it depending on how honest you are."

This guy, he has already learnt how to manipulate the mind of others by behaving like another different person. I almost fell for it. As for that soldier who has been targeted by him, he will most likely leave this place to turn over a new leaf and live his life as a soldier or in peace. Ash thinks to himself as he asks NIghtin through telepathy "Do you think that all this might be a bait or ruse by them?"

"It doesn't matter, I'll surf the waves as they come." Nightin replies before staring straight into the eyes of that soldier. His eyes seemingly staring straight into the eyes of that soldier, causing the soldier's body to shudder in fear.

"I… It all started from the moment you guys attacked my hideout. Unlike usual messages which will be sent through the second leader after gaining the approval of the other two leaders, the message this time was sent by only the first and third leader. As for the contents of that message, it was only one sentence, seek for help from our attackers."

The soldier explains as he takes out what resembles a compa.s.s, it only had two magical arrows the colour of frost and both represented North. "This is the glacier compa.s.s which I possess and why I received the information, the leaders hope that you can make use of them to locate them. The hideout should be easily located with the help of this compa.s.s, just ensure that you're travelling in the direction in which both arrows are pointing towards."

After the soldier finished explaining and was about to leave, Nightin pours water on him by adding on "Before you leave, I want you to lead us to the destination first."

The soldier was going to beg for mercy, but gave up on that notion upon realising everyone around him right now possesses the ability to kill him easily without batting an eye.

"I concede. Follow me, I'll lead the way to the hideout, if things go well, we should be able to arrive there before nightfall."
