After the confessions took place, I slept in his embrace while we talked about everything.
Talking about how excited he was when he knew he had a sibling on the way, he had a spark in his silver eyes as he recalled. One could see how much he loved Queen from the way he doted on her. They also had a close relations.h.i.+p.
I also mentioned the way it was growing up with two bestfriends/older sisters. He spoke about his first successful software program, and I blabbed about my first undergraduate research presentation.
Deep into the night, we slowly fell asleep without forgetting to declare our love once more.
"I love you babe," he said drowsily.
"I love you too big daddy."
He placed a kiss on my forehead before drifting off to dreamland.
Beatrice's big day finally arrived, and we already had her gift prepare: a camel color cashmere scarf and a handwritten birthday message from Quincy and I.
In the morning, Quincy took me on a drive to see a fall foliage. It took about 2 hours to get there. The sight was magnificent. Most of the leaves were a mix of yellow and red, blending into orange. Some trees still had green leaves. We walked down the trail hand-in-hand while taking in the scenery. We had our lunch basket with us, so we set out a mini-picnic with PB&J sandwiches and orange juice accompaniment. We took lovely pictures and videos, it was really the best date ever.
We returned home, rested for a few hours before heading over to a banquet hall.
Arriving at the hall, Quincy held me by the waist, and I enjoyed his dominance. We were quickly spotted by Beatrice who came trotting over like she had seen a celebrity.
"Quincy, you came," she said, going in for a hug like she had done the last time.
"Happy birthday," he said as he shoved the gift bag into her open arms.
'Go boyfriend, that's my boyfriend... you better.'
I did a whole performance in my head praising my man for how he had handled the situation.
"Happy birthday Ms. Walters." I tilted my head and smiled at her, leaning more into Quincy's embrace.
"Thank you so much. I didn't know you were coming along also Miss..."
"Seraphina," I reminded her kindly.
"Yes, Ms. Seraphina. Pardon me."
Someone was definitely salty alright. Pretending to not know my name was a trick even granny's generation would think was outdated.
Quincy took notice of that and had a slight frown on his face.
"We won't be staying the whole time. We..."
Before he could complete his statement, two elders walked towards the three of us.
"Mom, dad," Beatrice cried out.
She then turned to Quincy.
"These are my parents," she said, displaying a full grin afterwards.
"Good evening Mr. and Mrs. Walters," he said politely.
"What a good boy," Mr Walters hurriedly commented as he was sizing my man up.
'Umm... Excuse me... He has a woman in his arms... I exist you know... rude much.' I couldn't help but cuss them out in my head. I totally see where thier daughter go it from.
Mrs. Walters followed in her husband's footsteps.
"No need to be courteous with us. Just call us aunty and uncle. Beatrice has told us a lot about you."
Quincy and I stared at the family of three strangely, having no words to utter.
If people were to judge this conversation, they'd think he came over as a potential son-in-law.
"I wonder why Ms. Beatrice would tell you so much about my boyfriend," I couldn't help but b.u.t.t in.
Quincy was a G.o.dd.a.m.n mind reader. We worked together like needle and thread.
"There really shouldn't be much to be told babe. She was probably flipping through our high school year book nostalgically," he said shamelessly, patting my head slightly with a touch of smile on his face and a mischievous glow in his eyes. I tried so hard to contain my laughter.
Beatrice's parents were stunned silly, but they quickly regained their composure.
"And who might this young lady be?" Mrs Walters asked with disdain written over hear big forehead.
"She's Seraphina, my girlfriend. Babe, greet the elders."
"Hi aunty, hi uncle," I greeted them without being courteous as per their request.
The couple nodded at me and looked at their daughter questionably. She blatantly ignored them.
"Let's all head in," she said.
"I just came by to honor my promise and pa.s.s your gift onto you. I was about to say we wouldn't be staying for long before your parents arrived."
Neat decline!
"My parents haven't seen him in a while and they miss him, so we are going over for dinner. We couldn't decline them because of filial piety. I hope Ms. Beatrice wouldn't blame Quincy," I quickly interrupted her, letting all of her persuasive words digest in her tummy.
"Is that so? No problem then. Thank you for coming anyway. I'm sure I'll love your gift. See you some other time."
She choked in between her insincere goodbye before das.h.i.+ng off to cry, I hope.
We nodded politely to the couple and left the hall.
