"What?"
Black must have realized what was wrong. He lowered his speed and I found air resistance lessen as if there was some wall in front of us. The wind became gentle and I could finally open my eyes with ease.
Even though I felt that heights were a little scary, at that moment, I was not frightened at all. His presence fought away all the fears and I could observe the view without any hesitation.
The sight of clouds all around me was so amazing. The clouds were basking in the golden light of the setting sun. I loved watching sunrises and sunsets and thus I was, to a small extent, used to the beauty of nature. But that sight in front of me took my breath away. I was so close to a cloud and I extended my hand to touch it, but it vaporized before I could feel it. They were untouchable.

"Amazing!"
"If you like it that much, I'll let you see it every day!" Black whispered in my ear.
"I'd love it." At that moment, I had decided to make him carry me while flying so that I could see the wonders that only birds are able to see, at least every week. But I didn't realize that Black had tricked me once more.
"What were you saying by the way?"
"You enjoy. We will talk about that later."
I did what he said and enjoyed the view. I noticed that Black stayed above the clouds mostly.
"Why do you stay above the clouds?" I asked him. Just then a fleet of about a dozen birds pa.s.sed. Their V-shaped formation was ruined as they scattered after being surprised by us.
"Eden is not earth based but cloud based. Therefore, we are just used to stay above the clouds. Also prevents us from being sighted by humans."
"What happened to that weird thing that kicked angels out of Eden?"
"I will open a gate back to Eden tonight."
"Wow."
"Yep."
"After its fixed, can you please take me to Eden someday? I want to visit your homeland."
"You'll surely visit Eden one day."
He stopped for a while at the edge of the cloud and I could see the surreal sight of the landscape. The whole city was visible from up there and it looked so tiny. The skysc.r.a.pers which would otherwise appear gigantic looked like miniature toy buildings that Luna often plays with. The uneven topography of the land outside had this strange attraction. I knew that there were mountains on the north side but they weren't visible. Though, I could also faintly see the stream of Kayanite river flowing from the north-eastern side. I also saw an aeroplane at my left side flying towards the city.
After a short while, Black continued flying towards the south. Nearly thirty minutes later, I could feel that he had started breathing heavily and his speed had slowed considerably from the time he started.
"Are you okay?" Black kept flying without replying but his condition only worsened.
"Dammit. It's so near." Black cursed after a few more minutes and started descending on the ground.
About 250 miles to the north of our city, there's a mountain range. We landed at the foot of one of those mountains.
"Am I that heavy?" I pouted as he put me down on the ground. Black then sat on a Boulder nearby and started catching his breath.
"I'm sorry. I don't usually carry anything when I fly."
"So you're saying I am heavy!"
"No you're not! I'm just weak!" He replied pitifully. I wanted to tease him some more but I couldn't bear to do so when I looked at his miserable expression.
"How come I always see the tired side of the strongest angel?" I asked and Black let out a laugh.
"Because you're the only one I show my weak side to."
"Being cheesy ha. By the way, what are we doing here?" I asked.
"The Alekha mountain range."
"Sigh. I know that. But why are we here?"
"You see that mountain over there?" Black said while pointing at a peak of a mountain. It didn't look much high.
"Yes?"
"Somewhere around there is the place where it all started... Well, the place where we parted." I was surprised.
"I would like for us to be there when I return your memories back to you. I am now ready for it."
"Are you sure?" I remembered how reluctant he was to give it to me before. I wanted to confirm that he wasn't doing this on impulse. I didn't care much for them anyway.
"Never been more sure about anything." Black gave me a bright smile. "Let's wait here till I'm able to fly again."
"Can you walk?"
"Yeah."
"Then let's climb the mountain. That place doesn't look far." The traces of narrow path told me that oftentimes people used to climb this mountain. Therefore, it should be okay for us too. I didn't want to see Black suffer again by carrying me.
"How about I rest for a while and then we will fly there?"
"What's the fun in that?"
I held his hand and dragged him. Black grumbled for a while when I pulled him off that boulder as if I had disturbed his sleep but after a while, his objection quietened down and he followed me like a good boy. As we walked together hand in hand with our fingers entwined, and the trees all around, I remembered the dream I once saw. I smiled as remembered how I found myself confined in the prison of his body as I woke up. My dream was finally coming true.
"So where have you been all this time? Tell me about your adventures."
"You want to know?"
"Yep."
Black moved his head and I could feel his gaze on me. He gazed at me for a while and then replied, "It's better that you don't know about all that stuff. I would prefer to keep it as my dark secret."
"Oh come on. I swear I won't judge you or anything. Pretty please with a strawberry on top. " I pleaded and he couldn't keep saying no to my pleas.
"Well, I adopted a little sister out there."
"Who?"
"Maria. You did hear her back at home, right?"
"Oh I see. Isn't she the one you harmed?"
"It was by mistake. I had no idea that the dumb girls would be there..." Black let out a sigh as he talked about that day. I could understand where he was coming from. In his enraged form, he could not even hear me, let alone them.
"And do you know, Maria is way older than me."
"Really? She doesn't look that old to me."
"I am sure that she is at least older than Aunt Emi. But her heart is still that of a child."
"What else?"
"Um... I made my fifth friend."
"Fifth? Who is she?"
"How come you're so sure that its a she?"
"You're a d.a.m.n womanizer. I am sure that all four of your previous friends are women."
"No way. Just what did I do?"
"Think about it yourself. Aside of that idiot Michael, did any guy come to meet you?"
"Jean and Lorex."
"Jean doesn't count. And I don't think that Lorex would ever want to see you again. He doesn't count either."
"For your information. Two of my friends are guys."
"Oh really?"
"Yeah. One is Old Don. Other is Michael. And the third is Lilith. Fourth is Pandora."
"Who is the fifth?"
"Of course you. You were the first friend I ever made. You're my wifey now but I can't bear to take you off this list." I guess that was a good thing to still stay friends despite being a couple.
"Did you even miss me? It looks like you were enjoying your time away."
"Don't say that. I missed you every time I breathed, every time my heart let out a beat. I missed you to death Eve." His voice choked up as he let his emotions out. I felt bad for even doubting it. But a part of my heart was glad that I wasn't the only one suffering. He was suffering together with me.
We kept walking deeper into the forest as we climbed the mountain and as we did, it got darker. But I enjoyed walking with him and talking about anything and everything. I wanted to make up for all the lost time. But there was something hidden in his words that kinda felt strange.
After the sun had set, I wanted to camp around that area for the night and continue next morning. But Black kept saying that he doesn't have much time left, never telling what it was about. I wasn't afraid of any animal as Black was right there and thus we continued climbing up in the dark woods with the moon as the only source of light.
After some time, I noticed another ray of faint yellow light flying around. Fireflies! I changed my direction towards that ray of light. We walked ahead and more of fireflies started to appear. I could faintly hear the sound of a waterfall from the same direction.
When we walked out of the dense trees, I saw a small lake. The serene surface of the lake that was reflecting the light of the moon was ever disturbed by the waves from the water falling down. Some fireflies were flying near the center of the lake while most of them were hovering around the sides. It was so awesome.
The weather was nice and after those hours of walking, I was tired. I had this sudden urge to go and bath. Without thinking much, I quickly started to take off my s.h.i.+rt and trousers.
"What are you doing?" Black questioned.
"Going for a dip." I walked inside the pond. The lake was shallow. The water only reached my waist.
"Come. Join me!" I urged him to join. Black pondered for a while but in the end, he decided to join in. He took off his clothes and came nearby. I played with water and those fireflies for a while before I saw Black just standing there and staring at me. I felt that he was something was eating him up.
"What are you thinking?"
"Lately, I wonder just what I am... I'm neither an angel, nor a demon.. Perhaps they are right. Perhaps I've always been a wanderer with a vengeful heart, a monster with a black wing." Black looked at his hand and just stared at it. At that moment, he appeared so lost and sad.
"Look! An angel!" I said while pointing her finger towards the sky.
"Huh? Where?" He raised his head and his eyes gazed upon the moonlit sky in search of that angel.
"Where is..." Before he could finish his words, I hugged him from behind. I rested my head over his back and I could listen to his heartbeats if I focussed a little. A smile crept over my face as my hand crawled all the way to his chest.
"Right here, inside your heart." We stood like that in silence for a few nice moments.
"Honey, there is no angel in my heart," Black finally stated as he turned around, held my hand and kissed it. Tears started to stain his face. Black looked right into my eyes and gave me a wide smile.
"There is but a G.o.ddess."
