After explaining the concept of a failed cultivation to the cla.s.s of Martial Pract.i.tioners she left them to fix the mess they had created. 'The Pract.i.tioners of Earth have a better understanding of cultivation than the people here. They had only been restrained to the Mortal Realm until I brought about the Dimensional Upgrade...'

Thinking about the difference between the pract.i.tioners here in Tyre and Earth, Elizabeth couldn't help but bring a hand to support her forehead, 'At least they had properly cultivated their bodies in each respective Stage until the gains started becoming negligible. These people...' She forced herself to stop thinking about them as she felt yet another heavy sigh welling up.

It seemed odd that Elizabeth would react so much to these complete strangers, but in all honesty, she didn't really care about them. It was the fact that they were squandering their potential so badly that caused her sense of sadness to erupt. As a pract.i.tioner of the Extreme Path of Perfection, gauging cultivation bases that were close to perfection was already a cause for her to lament. Now seeing the s.h.i.+tshow that was the cultivation bases of the people in Tyre, Elizabeth couldn't stop herself from physically reacting.

Thus, after she explained the fundamental purpose for developing a steady foundation of cultivation to those people, she excused herself from the cla.s.s and moved on to wait for the next Forging cla.s.s to begin. She pa.s.sed by the next couple hours going through all the Secondary Occupational cla.s.ses that she could understand and access. Thought those cla.s.ses didn't induce a sense of melancholy from how badly the cla.s.s understood the topic at hand, most were still below what Elizabeth could consider being useful to the Pract.i.tioners of Earth. The only thing Elizabeth took from the experience was a general idea of how to organize cla.s.ses for these various topics, as she couldn't argue with the system Tyre Academy had devised.

Now, as the day was coming to an end, Elizabeth only needed to attend one final cla.s.s. It was actually the only cla.s.s she had been looking forward to attending, as she would finally get down to the bottom of what those "incantations" were when she prayed witness to the Mage students practicing at the time of her "Guild a.s.sessment Test."

Walking into the cla.s.s for Mages at the Academy, absolutely everyone stopped what they were doing. By now, Elizabeth's appearance had spread by word of mouth and to the Mage Cla.s.s, she was a legendary figure. To a cla.s.s that catered to F/C-Ranked Mages, the sight of a real SSS-Rank Mage was like seeing a living myth.

Of course, while Elizabeth understood where they were coming from after the day of seeing such terrible standards at this place, she was still reserved and did nothing to help the situation. Doing as she had for all the other cla.s.ses, she walked to an empty seat and waited for cla.s.s to start.

"Hey Miss Supreme Mage, if you don't mind me asking, what kind of Mage are you?" To everyone's surprise, someone had actually started a conversation directed at Elizabeth. As everyone, Elizabeth included, turned to look at the source of the voice, they found the sight of a tall dark-skinned man.

"Are you trying to get me killed?!" The girl sitting beside the dark-skinned man paled. She began a.s.saulting him physically, though that barely did anything as the man was a Pract.i.tioner and she had barely cultivated her body. Turning to Elizabeth, the girl bowed deeply before saying, "Supreme Mage… Please disregard my slave. This filthy dog-boy, doesn't know how to keep his thoughts to himself..." At that moment, the only thing she wanted to do was escape with her life.

'Slave?' Elizabeth disregarded the girl as she looked at the man. At the top of his head, she could find two sharp ears and by his rear, there was a meter long black tail. 'Whoa, I didn't expect to see a slave here?!' Elizabeth thought as her eyes widened a bit. Taking a look at the cla.s.s again, she saw evidence of other slaves as most Mages had one accompany them. They were easy to spot as compared to the clothes of the Mages, the slaves without fail had clothes of much lower quality. They also carried cold arms like swords, sabers, and spears, and the scars of previous battles maintained their skin. It was the antipode of the Mages as the ones wearing revealing clothes had not a scratch in sight. Finally, the most telling clue of all was the fact that the Mages were all human while the Slaves were demi-human.

"It's fine... I'm primarily a Time Mage." Elizabeth replied. This kind of information was something worth concealing as any potential enemies that crossed her path would be remiss to only think of her as a Time Mage; if any could even exist in such a low-level city in the first place.

"A Time Mage?! Oh my G.o.d, I've never seen one!"

"But, the record of the events earlier said she used a flame to destroy the targeting field..."

"Can she bend time to her will?!"

A discussion broke out as Elizabeth responded. No one really asked her directly, however. Before Elizabeth was asked another question the teacher for the cla.s.s arrived; it was the same executive from earlier on in the day.

As he looked at Elizabeth for a solid second, the crimson-eyed la.s.s could see his face pale at a rate visible to the uncultivated human eye. Smiling at him, she watched as he began sweating…

"Supreme Mage… I-I see you've taken the offer to study at my humble school." The man said as he slowly approached his teaching podium.

"Yeah, I want to learn about those silly dances and 'incantations' you mentioned earlier," Elizabeth replied as her face contorted into a cringe induced smile from recalling the performance of the Mage Students earlier in the morning.

"I see… Well, why don't we start today's cla.s.s by going over the concept of incantations..." The teacher said as he addressed the cla.s.s. They had been expecting to work in this area anyway, considering the ravaged state Elizabeth's attack reduced the field to.

"Iljan, why don't you come up to the front of the cla.s.s and explain the use of incantations," The teacher said before moving from the podium to his chair by the front left of the cla.s.sroom.

The student named Iljan walked to the podium and cleared his throat before bringing his palm up for everyone to see. He started, "As Mages, Incantations are the primary way we develop. From learning, to mastering, to altering, or even creating new spells, Incantations are the most effective method for any Mage to advance."

Iljan galvanized the Magic in his body to create a moderate ball of flames, continuing, "Most often used to directly power up a Spell, Incantations are personal mnemonic devices each Mage customizes to fit their style of practicing. This here is the most amount of Fire I can safely handle without using an incantation, but when I do use one..." He paused before muttering, "Flameheart, burn..."

The ma.s.s of flames in his hand grew twofold and he concluded, "...it becomes like this. Not only is the amount of fire that I can control much greater, but the potency of the flames is also augmented." With his little demonstration completed, Iljan bowed before the cla.s.s before returning to his seat.

The teacher returned to the podium and said, "Very good, Iljan. However, you forgot to mention the last use of Incantations. Now can anyone rise to the podium and add in the last detail Iljan missed?"

Without missing a beat, a girl stood up from her desk and moved over to the podium before saying, "What Iljan forgot to mention was the application of Incantations to allow Mages to use non-Majoring spells." She paused and looked to the teacher for confirmation.

Upon receiving the go-ahead, she too brought up her palm and explained, "As a Mage with dual Ice and Earth Affinities, you could usually expect me to cast Spells of those attributes. But with a lot of practice and effort, Mages like me can cast Spells outside our natural range." Then with a voice loud enough for everyone to hear, she said, "Lightning Spark!" A couple moments later, fragments of crackling lightning manifested around her raised hand, and then promptly died out before they could go out of control.

As the girl concluded her explanation, bowed, and left for her chair, the teacher rose back to the podium and praised, "Perfect! You two did a good job explaining the use and importance of incantations. Now, since the targeting field is still, uh… under repair, for the rest of the cla.s.s time today, I want you all to work on developing your incantations."

He let the cla.s.s start a session of self-study and began walking around the room to a.s.sist anyone that looked to him for help. Very quickly, he found Elizabeth staring holes into him, so he went over to her side and ask, "Is there something I can help you with?"

"Yeah, I still have no idea how to form my own incantations. In the explanation it was only mentioned that Mages have their own custom incantations but how do you start forming one in the first place?"

"Oh, um… You just need to imagine the Spell you want to start learning or improving and speak its name. In our repository, we have records of hundreds of spells for new Mages to learn if you need a reference to go by. But to better understand, why don't I give you an example..."

Seeing Elizabeth nod, the teacher continued, "So as you may have noticed earlier in the day, I am a pure Earth Mage. So, if I were to start learning, say… a Light Spell like 'Swords of Incandescence,' an offensive that condenses and fires off swords of light at multiple targets, I would repeat the name of the Spell in my mind and form the image of the spell before casting out my Magic."

Doing precisely as he said, three points of light started lighting up around the teacher before they slowly drifted in three random directions. The teacher gave Elizabeth a helpless smile, saying, "As you can see, that wasn't much of a spell since it was the first time I tried casting a Light Spell. But from that initial attempt if I were to try improving the spell, I would keep repeating the name of the Spell in my mind, making slight changes for attempt in casting, and work on improving one aspect of the spell at a time; like the potency of Light Magic, the speed of the 'swords' firing, or the number of swords materializing in a single-use."
