The two hundred meter wide hole in the walls had made this strategy that Master Ferlin devised less effective but even if the skeletons stopped a dozen soldiers for a moment it meant that a dozen more Fae'Laran could live and continue fighting for just a moment longer. Behind the skeletons would be the rangers, village guard, and any elf that had even a tiny bit of combat experience followed by the rest of the village folk in the back.
She fired her bow one last time striking a charging soldier in his eye before unsheathing her long sword. The ground beneath her almost seemed to rumble as the charging men grew closer with each pa.s.sing second.
"AHHHHH!" The thunderous battle cry of the soldiers shook the air as they cleared the final few meters and crashed into the skeleton's counter charge like a wave of steel and sinew. Bones shattered and flew through the air in the small gap that was created between the skeletons and the Fae'Laran behind them.
Tylin began rapidly firing out bone spears into the melee, having no concern for whether his skeletons were in the way or not. If he could trade a skeleton for a human soldier it would be an easy choice for him to make any day. The bone spears weren't as effective for killing armored soldiers but even if the projectile didn't kill them, the force behind it would knock them down and make them an easy target for the rangers.

His six death knights were the first to clear the short gap and reach the battle lines. They were met with opposition immediately, a few of the braver soldiers ran out to meet them. A skilled soldier managed to block the death knights first blow with his s.h.i.+eld before arcing his sword at the creatures neck but it moved at the last moment and the sword dug in deep into the death knights chest.
The death knight shot out his hand grabbing the soldiers face and holding him in position as he shot his sword hand back in an unnatural motion before sending it forward into the man chest. In a single motion the death knight lifted the impaled soldier up two meters in the air as if to display his fresh kill before using the body as a projectile, launching it into the line of unsuspecting soldiers before him. The death knight dashed in swinging his sword wildly before the soldiers could recover from being knocked down by the hundred kilogram projectile.
Sera and the other rangers reached the front lines moments after the death knights. Despite the a.s.sistance of mana she would still find it difficult to pierce through armor, her talents lie in speed not strength and if she attempted to use all her strength to pierce the soldiers armor she would quickly find herself fatigued and unable to fight. Thus, she nimbly dodged and weaved in true elven fas.h.i.+on, using her long sword to accurately stab at the unprotected faces of the soldiers that were stuck in battle with the skeletons.
Jeren on the other hand took a more reactive approach. He mirrored Sera's movements much like when they were out hunting beasts in the forest. Whenever a soldier entered Sera's blind spot he would shoot out a quick stab at the man's face either blinding them or ending their life on the spot.
As they battled an abnormally large man entered Sera's blind spot and like before Jeren shot out his sword, targeting the man's face. The man wore chain mail gloves and grabbed the sword far quicker than Jeren antic.i.p.ated, given the man's size. Jeren was flung forward as the man pulled him towards a lunging sword aimed directly at his chest.
Jeren dodged the blade at the last moment but the man transitioned the lunge into a punch which crashed upon his temple like a hammer. Losing consciousness for a moment, he realized he was in the air without his sword before tumbling down hard to the ground. The blood from his temple covered his right eye and the world took a red hue as he looked back to the large man.
The man was charging at Jeren a few meters away and Jeren quickly scanned the area for his sword but came up empty. He grabbed the only thing he could find which was an arrow from his quiver as the man sent another downwards slash at him. Jeren rolled between the man's legs, dodging the blow and stabbing the arrow into one of his legs before jumping up onto the large mans back.
Once atop the man Jeren frantically stabbed the arrow into the man's eyes in rapid succession and the man swung his sword with reckless abandon as he tried to shake the elf off his back. A few unfortunate Fae'Laran village folk attempted to help Jeren bring down the man but met their ends from the blind flurry of the man's sword.
Despite the damage the man continued to try and shake the elf off his back until Jeren sent the arrow into a final plunge, entering the mans throat under his chain mail coif. The horrendous gurgling sound as the man attempted to breathe seemed to only make him grow more wild but as the seconds pa.s.sed his swings became more and more feeble until he collapsed onto the ground.
Jeren took a quick breather to gain his bearing and gazed upon the battlefield. Despite their initial success he could see far more Fae'Laran lying lifelessly on the ground than he could humans. There was still four hundred humans embattled and the other half of their army was still fresh, sitting in wait while the Fae'Laran tired themselves out. The only thing he could do was continue to fight and that he did as he charged back into the fray.

Earl Abery sat atop his horse overlooking the battle, next to him was Marshal Dolan and Pontus. Marshal Dolan's expression was one of concern. It was clear the battle would be won but their losses would be severe if they didn't act now.
"My lord we have already lost five hundred men. The dark elves are tired, we should send the rest of the men in now and end it."
Earl Abery looked up into the bright azure sky and saw the purple eyed flying creatures circling above. If they belonged to the dark elf necromancer currently fighting he would've surely sent them to battle. Which meant that they didn't belong to him and that there was another necromancer somewhere watching the battle, possibly with an army of his own.
"...No, send two hundred, the other six hundred will stay here."
"My lord if we do not act now our losses will increase ever higher. If you fear an ambush our scouts have already searched the woods, there is no other force here. We-" Marshal Dolan pleaded but was interrupted by Earl Abery's stern voice.
"Speak less and do as i say."
"...As you command, my lord." Marshal Dolan spoke in a defeated tone as he bowed and began to relay the orders.

Despite doing her best to reserve her strength, nearly an hour of constant fighting had noticeably sapped Sera's energy. She could feel herself getting slower with each step and with each swing of her sword she felt her arms begin to numb. Even Master Ferlin was not without fatigue as she watched him weakly fight off a soldier while she caught her breath. Master Ferlin quickly blocked the soldiers downwards swing before riposting and sending his sword through the soldiers chest. He was still deadly even when tired it appeared.
Nearly seven hundred Fae'Laran lay dead and her heart ached at the sight but was quickly replaced by anger as she grasped the hilt of her long sword and dash back into battle. She spotted the blacksmith Marik struggling to defend himself from two soldiers and rushed over, stabbing her blade into a soldiers thigh. When his leg gave out from the pain Sera rapidly spun the sword around and sent it up through his chin, ending his life.
Marik took the opportunity to send a heavy strike down onto the other soldiers head with his warhammer, cracking the man's chain mail coif and skull in a single blow.
"Are you alright?" Sera asked as she caught her breath again.
"Ai la.s.s, this humble blacksmith thanks you for the help." Marik smiled at her before turning his gaze towards the army waiting in the distance.
"It look's like they're sending in more." Marik continued as he pointed with his free hand.
"Aerwyn should be here soon we just need to hold on until then."
"Ai, the lad is sure taking his sweet time... See if i don't charge him extra the next time he's looking to buy spears. I'll call it a 'late fee'. HA!" The fact that the blacksmith could find humor in this situation eased up the tension Sera felt in her heart.
