He truly wanted to cry. "Cuz, can you not meddle in my private life? Rest a.s.sured, I've got a sense of propriety…"
"Yeah, my foot! If it were someone else, I won't be bothered about it. Now that this matter has indirectly implicated me, if I don't take you in hand, my surname isn't Xu!"
With that, Xu Kuangjie grabbed his collar and dragged him away.
On one hand, he did not want this lad to destroy the married couple's relations.h.i.+p. On the other hand, he was doing this for the sake of himself!
What did I say about Jiang Beiyuan in the car earlier?
A sissy!
Gos.h.!.+
I'm finished!
Inside the flower shop.
Yan Nian placed a cup of jasmine tea she brewed in front of Jiang Beiyuan.
The floral fragrance wafted in the air, and the hot steam rose up, covering the man's eyes.
And so, she just sat awkwardly in her seat, touching her nose and hair, then scratching her neck.
What does he want to talk about?
It's awkward to be sitting with him like this…
It was only after a good while of staring fixedly at her that Jiang Beiyuan finally opened his mouth. "Say. Why were you hiding from me during the past few days?"
"Huh? Hide from you? Haha, I didn't. Do I have nothing better to do than to hide from you for no reason?"
She scratched her face and laughed while waving her hands in awkward gesticulations. "As you can see, it has been very busy at the flower shop and I usually have a lot of things to do here. I need to do flower arrangements, make bouquets, prune the leaves, contact my customers, order and deliver flowers, and—"
"That's enough."
He knew she would say that.
The person she was now only knew how to escape in the face of trouble.
Crossing one leg over the other, he rubbed his temples in resignation and practiced restraint and patience.
"Don't hide from me if… it's just because of that kiss."
Er…
What does he mean by 'it's just because of that kiss'?!
It's something very important to me, alright?!
G.o.d knows how fl.u.s.tered I was, only falling asleep at two o'clock for the past two nights all just because my mind was on this matter!
I turned a blind eye to it the first time because he was drunk. This time, however, it happened when we were both sober. How am I supposed to ignore it?
"Go back home to sleep tonight. It's inappropriate for you to be staying out every other day."
His words pulled her back from her thoughts.
After pondering for a second, she nodded lightly. "Alright, will do."
He had already given her an out, so there was no reason for her not to accept it.
In the next second, though, she heard the person opposite her suddenly saying, "I'll be free tomorrow, so I can go back home with you to visit your mother and have lunch there. After that, you can decide if you want to return home that night."
"Wait!"
She jerked her head up again and hastily waved her hands at him. "No, no, no."
Meet the parents? No way!
"What? We've been married for so long already. Am I supposed to keep being your 'friend'?"
"Isn't it good this way? Although we're living together, we don't interfere with each other's life… What's more, haven't I kissed you thrice? It should have satisfied your… needs, right…?"
The more she spoke, the softer her voice got.
When they first got married, she promised to fulfill her part of their marital obligations: that he could look her up should he have any needs and that she would not refuse him.
However, the man had never once sought her out and had always just kissed her without any warning.
Even though the first two kisses happened because he had drunk alcohol…
All of a sudden, she heard the man gritting out, "Do you think a kiss can satisfy my needs?"
She stiffened in shock.
His voice dropped a few octaves lower; his dark, almond-shaped eyes flashed cold. He wore a frigid expression, and the emotions shown in his eyes were obscure.
Her unreliable heart began tensing up as she clenched her fists tight and cleared her throat. "Erm… if you want, I can—"
