Tall and slender, the lady was a blondie with flaming red lips. Her fingers were fair, delicate, and proportionate while her almond-shaped eyes with single eyelids were well accentuated.

She was Jiang Beiyuan's colleague, known as the beauty in the department of thoracic surgery.

She was carrying a takeout in her hand. As she placed it on the table in front of him, she tugged her loose fringe behind her ears.

"I packed this for you at the hospital's canteen. Hope it suits your appet.i.te."

"That wool throw blanket over there, is that yours?"

He frowned, and his tone became cold and detached as he said, "Thank you for your kindness, but this will not be necessary next time."

"Oh? I-I saw you sleeping just now and was worried that you might catch a cold…"

Her piteous voice would have melted any man's heart.

But he merely acknowledged it with an indifferent "Eh."

"I thank you once again, but I'm sorry to say that my wife doesn't like the smell of another woman on me."

Her face turned pale with shock instantly.

She had been to the hospital for close to a year. Why was she never told that he was married!?

"Do you like your current husband?"

His friend did not answer him. Instead, he continued to sip at his bowl of soup with furrowed brows. The lights above him highlighted his well-chiseled profile and slender, clean fingers.

From his position, he could observe Beiyuan's long and curly eyelashes. He might even go to the extent of calling his friend an eyelash freak, given that his eyelashes were longer than a lady's. "Hey, what's wrong with you? Why are you depressed?"

Xu Kuangjie's glance s.h.i.+fted toward the direction it came from and saw Yan Nian with her companion sitting not too far away from them. The man instantly understood why his buddy was upset with right now.

"Look at that, what a wanton woman! What's so good about her? Why don't you divorce her? Your buddy here will find you a better one!"

He shot his friend a glare.

Without another word, he stood up and turned to leave.

"Hey, aren't you going to finish all the food here?"

Pouting, the man continued to enjoy his meal without a d*mn.

I'm not going to waste a table of delicious delights because of a woman. No way will I let myself be another Jiang Beiyuan!

When it was time for him to settle the bill after a while, the waiter listed the items ordered, including a ridiculous order of 50 bowls of sea cuc.u.mber soup!

"I didn't order so many bowls of soup, right?!"

"Oh, it's like this. Just before your friend left, he ordered a bowl of sea cuc.u.mber soup for every occupied table here. Our kitchen has already executed the order and it would be too late to retract it now."
