They had started back up on the path again. It was high noon. Charles still had Akila's scythe in his hands. Akila was following him. The people that were behind them the night before had disappeared. Charles seemed tense. He was walking speedily. Akila had to jog to keep up with him. Akila was confused on why Charles was so tense. She jogged in front of him, and stood there. Charles stopped and looked at her with ignorance. He moved forward to push her out of his way. Akila though, stood her ground. She kept her feet planted on the path. Charles shook his head and shot up to the sky. He flew over her and landed behind her. Akila sighed. She turned back around in time to see Charles fall to the ground.

"Charles!" Akila yelled. She ran to his body. She looked over his body and saw a arrow sticking out of his side. She dropped to the ground next to him. She placed her hand on his side in an L shape. She grabbed the arrow and slowly pulled it out. She threw the arrow to the side. Akila started working on a healing spell. She placed both of her hands on his wound and mumbled. The wound started to glow for a few seconds. The wound healed and Charles started to move again. Akila grabbed Charles arm and helped him to sit up. She didn't notice a royal guard standing behind her. Charles couldn't see much, he was dizzy and everything was blurry. But he could see the man behind Akila.

"Akila! Move!" He cried, but he was too late. The man had grabbed Akila and put a knife to her throat. Akila struggled to get out of his grasp, but he only moved the knife closer. Charles saw this in front of him and struggled to stand up. He was able to get up, but was wobbling. He had lost a lot of strength from that arrow. He still had the scythe in hand. He struggled to run to the man. He swung the scythe, but missed.

"Hah, I knew this would be easy. Now Akila, are you ready to go back home?" The guard said. he removed the knife from Akila's neck. Akila looked at him and smirked. She bent her head down and bit the arm that was constricting her. The guard saw it coming and moved his arm. Akila slid from his grasp and stood in front of him. She grabbed her scythe from Charles and stood ready to fight. The guard smirked and pulled out his sword. He took the first swing. Akila blocked it with the top blade. She then took the scythe and slammed the blunt of the bottom blade into his stomach. The guard fell backwards from the force and hit the ground, the air knocked out of him. Akila then raised her scythe to bring it down on her opponet, but he turned to the side too fast and the balde hit the ground. He jumped up and punched Akila in the side of the face. He wrapped his hand around Akila's neck, choking her until she pa.s.sed out. He dropped her on the ground. The guard reached for his sword to not find it in his sheath. He turned his head in time to see Charles plunge the sword into the guards stomach. The guard spurted blood out of his mouth, which splattered on Charles's face. He fell to the ground and in the following moments died a slow death. Charles dropped the sword and ran to Akila's side. He looked around for her scythe. He picked it up and used the belt from the guard's waist to tie it to his back. He picked Akila up in his arms and started walking past the guard. He kicked the sword to the side and kept walking. Akila's arms dangled from her sleeping body. Charles looked at her and smiled. As the sun began to fall Charles was looking for a place to camp. Akila was slowly waking up. She blinked and saw thet she was being carried. She looked up and saw Charles smiling. Akila was relieved.

"Thank you Charles, for saving me back there," Akila said.

"No problem. You've saved me and it was high time to pay you back."

Akila looked at him and placed a small kiss on his cheek. Charles stopped walking and blushed. He shook his head.

"We can camp here." He said. He let Akila down and started to set up camp. Akila didn't know it yet, but she was starting to feel incredibly closer to Charles.
