Chapter 464: Savage

Translator: Atlas Studios Editor: Atlas Studios

Xia Ling still hesitated. Although she knew that touching her child was a piece of cake for him because she was back, due to psychological barriers, she felt more at ease holding the child in her arms.

Pei Ziheng coldly said, “Or do you wish for your child to be hurt?”

She looked at him in confusion as she did not understand what he meant. She was carrying her child securely, so how could her child be hurt? However, after a few seconds, she finally reacted. He meant that if she did not give up her child, he would hurt her child!

Her face turned pale.

Nanny Zhou walked up a few steps. “Madam, let me take over.” As she spoke, she carefully took the child from her arms.

Xia Ling hesitated. Half-protesting, she handed her child over to Nanny Zhou.

Nanny Zhou carried the child and retreated to a place under the gallery. The child’s originally red face from the cold started to feel the warmth. He opened his pair of pure eyes, looked at Nanny Zhou and grinned.

Nanny Zhou’s heart was full of tenderness. In the end, she was still a woman and could not help but protect a child. Even if the child’s biological father was unknown, he was innocent and should not be treated harshly. Nanny Zhou, who had given birth to several children, comforted the child lovingly and skillfully.

Xia Ling was originally somewhat worried, but after seeing that scene, she was slightly relieved.

Pei Ziheng stood under the gallery and looked at her. “Come here.”

His voice was cold like eternally frozen ice.

Xia Ling was fearful, but she understood that she could not hide from him. She could not overcome his great overbearance. Plucking her courage, she walked towards him.

Without warning, Pei Ziheng gave her a tight slap.

The crisp sound was shocking in the quiet winter day. Xia Ling staggered a few steps after she was. .h.i.t. She tilted her head to the side. Her face was burning, and there was a faint handprint on it.

She reached out to wipe the blood off the corner of her lip and looked at the man who hit her.

Suddenly, she understood what he meant when he said the child might be hurt. If she were still holding the child in her arms, the child would have definitely fallen to the ground and be in danger of death when he slapped her at her most unexpected moment.

“Thank you.” She whispered.

Slap!

Pei Ziheng gave her another slap. This time, he used more force and almost sent her flying. Her thin body knocked into a flower bed that was about 1m above her. The lush potted plants and broken branches of plum and pine trees fell on her.

“Madam!” When Pei Ziheng hit Xia Ling the first time, Nanny Zhou’s heart skipped a beat but restrained herself from exclaiming. The second slap scared her, and she could not help but yell. “Mister, what are you doing?!” Nanny Zhou was a senior in the home. She had been by Pei Ziheng’s side since his birth and watched him grow up. Nanny Zhou was able to say some things that bystanders did not dare to say. “Madam just gave birth to a child and returned from the hospital. She has not fully recovered yet. How could you hit her so hard? What happens if you break her bones?!”

She was holding a child in her hands and could not help Xia Ling. She said urgently to Pei Ziheng, “Aren’t you going to see if madam is hurt?!”

Pei Ziheng stood at the same place. His lips were tight, and he did not move.

He wanted to slap her a long time ago. Ever since he learned that her child was not his, this hateful woman owed him an explanation. More than a decade ago, he took her home from the orphanage when she was fearful and helpless. He spent so much time and effort raising her, loving her and accommodating her. However, what was the result? Her will had hardened as she engaged in an unclear relations.h.i.+p with another man and even lied to him when she was pregnant with another man’s child!

A few months ago, he was cautious about her body, so he resisted the urge to hit her.

However, now, it was time for payback.

Xia Ling knelt on the gravel brick floor under the gallery. Her arms and back were hurting, and she did not know if her bones were broken. She fell to the ground for a long time without getting up. Faintly, she could hear the baby crying in Nanny Zhou’s arms.

She looked up painfully at the child. As a mother, she felt very worried once he started crying.

She tried to prop her body up from the ground again, but unexpectedly, the broken pine branches that were mixed with large chunks of mud and broken porcelain fell from her back, sc.r.a.pping her arms. It hurt her so much that she fell again. Her white palms desperately supported herself on the ground which was filled with broken porcelain pieces which cut her hands and caused blood to flow to the ground.

The child cried even louder.

She ignored the dirt and blood as she unsteadily got up and staggered to see her child.

Pei Ziheng grabbed her arm and dragged her into his arms as he pulled her into the bedroom upstairs.

“Let me go! I want to see the baby!” She screamed.

As if he did not hear anything or cared, Pei Ziheng dragged her to the bed and pressed his tall body on hers as he kissed and bit her fiercely.

“You’re crazy!” She screamed incoherently in shock and anger, and she desperately tried to fight back.

Pei Ziheng kissed her for a long time until their lips were covered in blood before he gasped and released her. “Do you really think I won’t dare to do anything to you?” He sneered with an air of viciousness. “Xia Ling, you owe me a son. This time, don’t even think of escaping!”

“I…” She was frightened to death. “I was just discharged! How can I give you a son now?!” Seeing his hand reach for her clothes to rip them off, she was so scared that she shrieked, “Don’t be like this!”

However, he ignored her, peeled off her clothes, and only stopped when her undergarments were left. “This is interest.” He slowly let her go, turned around and left.

Xia Ling was badly shaken. She pulled the clothes he ripped off to cover herself up.

Psycho… He was a psycho.

For a moment, she thought that she definitely could not hide from him today. Pei Ziheng wanted a son, and he was hungry for it. Even if her body were still weak and not suitable for pregnancy, it was difficult to ensure that he would not do anything extreme.

She thought that she had miscalculated the situation.

Logically speaking, a woman would need at least a year and a half to become pregnant again after giving birth to a child. She thought that she still had a year and a half to think of ways to deal with the situation. However, who knew that on the first day she returned home, he would give her such a huge scare.

Luckily, he stopped in the end.

Why?

Xia Ling did not think that it was because he discovered a conscience. Rather, it was because he knew that she needed some time to recover after giving birth, and he wanted her to recover quickly so that it would be easier for her to get pregnant again.

Like what he said, what happened just now was interest.

She s.h.i.+vered as she curled up in bed panic-stricken.

On the other hand, Pei Ziheng went downstairs.

In the living room, the child cried furiously, and Nanny Zhou could not comfort him no matter what she tried.

“Mister!” Seeing that Pei Ziheng was downstairs, Nanny Zhou quickly carried the child over to him. “The baby is crying non-stop. At this rate, he will hurt his voice. I think he misses his mother. How about I carry it over to madam?”
