437 Lightning Tribulation

The journey was pretty boring since there was nothing to do. Many entertainments were on the s.h.i.+p, including the lewd one. Still, Alex had zero interest in them, so he decided to stay inside his room until they arrived.

Of course, it did not mean he did nothing. He had a few peak Martial Lord monster blood, so he used it somehow to make a Rank 5 Simulation Room to start practicing his array.

So, within these two weeks, he managed to master two more arrays. The first one was a binding Array called King Shackle, and the other one was an attack-type array called Metal Blade. The binding array was like Leoz's Skill as it launched a few rings to restrict the enemy's movement. The attack type array was similar to his Fire String Array but without the element. The string was very strong and could kill Martial Lords instantly if he was not careful.

After the s.h.i.+p arrived, Alex immediately flew toward Nelson's direction, leaving the crew since it was pretty rare to see a VIP pa.s.senger. In fact, if Alex took a look at the list of the women, he would find many women with rare beauty and decent talent. The VIP usually took them home as a maid or concubine but seeing Alex had no interest in them made them frustrated.

Nelson had given him the direction. He found a few cities when he was flying toward him but did not find any interest to come there. He knew the cities would be more powerful than your average city in the Wilow Continent, but it did not pique his interest.

After a week of flying, he finally arrived at Nelson's place. The place was an abandoned village, and it had been abandoned for a few centuries, seeing the houses already become a pile of rubble with most of the materials already swept away by nature.

Alex then started building the arrays he needed for his tribulation, Gathering Array, Lightning Rod Array, and Barrier Array. With this, he was set to go.

He only needed to do this for Martial King tribulation since he could make his own Special Realm after he became Martial Emperor.

After finis.h.i.+ng his preparation, Alex then started cultivating again. It was true that this continent had denser Spiritual Energy. Unexpectedly, it still could not keep up with his absorption speed, albeit only slightly. He was wondering what kind of future he would have if he were teleported here instead of Wilow Continent.

He might be able to become stronger faster, but the difficulty was also far harder. He shook his head and turned his focus back to the cultivation.

After one day cultivating, Alex finally felt it was coming.

Alex took out his Sword and Spear instantly and pointed at the lightning as well as activated his Pure Fire.

The first yellow lightning strike came straight at him. He brushed it off easily with his sword. He had thirty dragon strength, so this was nothing.

The lightning tribulation did not waste any time as it immediately sent the second lightning strike to him. Alex wanted to brush it off again with his sword. But when the sword clashed with the lightning, he felt a strong rejection force from the lightning. It became far stronger but was still in his calculation, so Alex just used his spear together and destroyed the lightning strike.

Alex had yet to learn the Spirit Step. Considering it only gave him five dragon strength, it should be no problem for him even if he did not use the Immovable Step. As soon as the third struck forth, Alex threw his spear with all of his strength.

"Spear Throwing Art. Spin Throwing."

The clash between the lightning and the spear was spectacular. It even sent a shockwave through the village, sweeping the remaining materials of the houses away.

Alex felt his spear would lose this exchange after looking at the energy inside the lightning. Fortunately, the lightning only won barely, which Alex immediately destroyed with a single swing of his sword.

There was a pause for a while before the fourth lightning came. The yellow lightning that was rumbling inside the dark cloud slowly turned into blue. He did not know why, but the Blue Lightning slowly turned into an arrow as the cloud became the bow.

It shot that single lightning faster than he could imagine. Alex instinctively swung his sword with all of his strength.

"Heaven Breaking Sword." Alex was a bit surprised by the power inside the lightning, but it was still manageable. He managed to destroy the lightning with the help of his Sword Intent.

He also started covering his weapon with the Spear Intent, thinking he would need it soon. And he was right, the moment the blue arrow (lightning) flew toward him, Alex swung both of his Sword and Spear.

"Heaven Breaking Sword."

"Berserker Strike."

He used Heaven Breaking Sword with his sword while Berserker Strike with his spear. He found out that if he tried to use Heaven Breaking Sword with both hands simultaneously, it would only produce a weaker technique as the Martial Art itself was for a single sword.

This was why he used Berserker Strike with his spear. With a bit of push, Alex finally destroyed the lightning.

After that, he finally activated his fire. The lightning tribulation escalated smoothly and faster than he expected, so he needed to release his fire before the lightning came out.

The last blue lightning strike finally appeared, and Alex waved his hand.

"Fire Phoenix Art, First Stage. Phoenix Summon." Alex shot out a fire phoenix. This was the first time he used his Pure Fire again after his body refinement, and he was surprised to see it surpa.s.sed his expectation. However…

He saw the Phoenix clash with the lightning arrow. It was a grand fight where the phoenix engulfed the arrow and started burning it.

Even so, Alex immediately raised his hand and covered his hand with fire.

"Fire Phoenix Art, Second Stage. Phoenix Claw."

Even though the fire from the phoenix could extinguish the lightning, it did not have enough time. Alex used his Phoenix Claw after judging its speed. Well, he also considered using his Sword and Spear as a last resort, thus giving him another a.s.surance.

The tribulation paused for a while again before the lightning slowly turned into purple. His spirits were startled by the sudden appearance of this.

Alex saw a dragon head made of Purple Lighting, coming out of the dark could. And the extraordinary aura that came from the dragon even gave him a gooseb.u.mp.

He covered himself with fire and took a deep breath. Alex thought this would be troublesome.

The dragon then struck forth. Alex simply swung his sword.

"Seven Stars Cut." This Seven Stars Cut was filled with his Sword Intent and Pure Fire. He did not want to use his Sword King power first as he wanted to conserve his strength for the later part.

The blazing sword wave flew to the sky. It clashed with the lightning, making a huge shockwave. Alex could see a few trees bent to the sides before flying as its roots could not hold the shockwave.

The fire was trying to burn the dragon while the sword wave itself was trying to cut it. The clash continued for a few more seconds until the dragon finally managed to break the Sword Wave.

Looking at this, Alex did not move as the dragon finally disappeared before it could strike him. It already lost all of its energy, so Alex did not need to engage it anymore. Instead, he was focusing on the eighth waves.

Alex released both of his domains to attack the lightning this time. Even though he only used his Sword Intent last time, it was still covered with his fire that had been strengthened by Undying Fire Body. Even with all of that, it still lost to the dragon, so he could imagine what kind of terrifying lightning that would come next.

The domains started shrinking and went to his Sword and Spear. This time, he was planning to strike the lightning with both of his weapons, wanting to obliterate the lightning.

When the eighth lightning strike came to him, Alex swung both of his weapons at the same time, making two sword waves in the shape of X.

"Seven Stars Cut."

Both of the sword waves contained his weapons king's power as well as his Pure Fire. The moment it clashed with the dragon, the fire immediately burned the dragon, weakening its strength. After a few seconds, the Sword Wave managed to destroy the lightning completely.

"Fu…" Even with a situation like this, Alex was still confident his Lightning Rod Array could withstand the lightning strike.

A peak rank 4 array had a thousand symbols, while a peak rank 5 array had five thousand symbols. Previously, he made Lightning Rod Array with around 800 symbols. This time, he made the rank 5 Lightning Rod Array with five thousand symbols, but he added a little twist.

He did not only use one Lightning Array. Instead, he used five and made a formation. From his knowledge, he could beat the system as long as he used his s.p.a.ce Element to channel the lightning from one array to another. After all, s.p.a.ce Element was also considered to be one of his elements and was legit to use in the Lightning Tribulation.

Of course, making a s.p.a.ce gate and sending it to that world was a no go. After all, the lightning strike would always be there, and there wouldn't be a second strike as long as it was not destroyed.

When the lightning came forth, he simply made four Spatial Gates and sent the lightning to the other Lightning Rod Arrays. This was like asking friends to cheat together.

Alex did not care about those as he immediately released both of his domains again. This time, he did not compress it immediately. Instead, he was fusing them and made a very powerful domain. It had the sharpness of a sword, but also the piercing power from the spear.

Alex then compressed the domain and channeled it to his Sword and Spear. Alex then started covering his weapons with his Pure Fire.

He did not know whether it was enough to destroy the golden lightning or not, but he could only try. He just felt he used around fifteen percent of his energy just to make this combination attack. Maybe it was because of the imperfect fusion as he had yet to eliminate the consciousness of his intents or maybe something else. Otherwise, he would be confident he could destroy this in a single swing.

Finally, the dark sky turned into golden like it was welcoming the king. Even the surroundings were also illuminated by the golden light. It was at this time a golden dragon head came out of the cloud.

Alex looked at it and said, "Come!"
