Alex looked on with a dull dumbfounded expression as the delivery men quickly fastened the bell and then disappeared along with their truck.
Alex opened the package and took out the scroll. The scroll had the gaudy name Painful Vibration written on top followed by a few lines of text and a data chip which contained a video of the fighting style.
Alex read the brief description of the so called exercise.
"Hit the bell until you can make it chime. The higher the number of chimes, the greater the accomplishment."
Alex was dumbfounded. "I paid eighteen thousand points for this?"
He walked up to the bell and decided to try it out. He punched out with his military boxing and slammed into the bell. However, the bell barely moved and instead, Alex felt a terrifying vibration rebound into his body, wrecking his insides apart and making him cough out blood.
Alex's eyes went cold. "What a terrifying bell!"
Alex sensed his body's condition using his inner sight and he could make out that the vibrations had wrecked his body, but the body was slowly recovering and had a feeling of being tempered a little bit!
Alex had a realization. "Tempering the body using vibrations, what a novel method!"
Alex continued punching the bell with periodicity, but he wasn't ever able to make the bell chime, however, he could feel his body rapidly tempering and his body strength increasing.
"Something is wrong... Why exactly is my body continuing to heal, allowing me to grow rapidly? Could it be the Blood Rebirth's residual effects?" Alex wondered.
He continued to work hard, constantly punching the bell and taking rebound vibratory damage. His body was getting stronger slowly and Alex also felt like there were hints of the vibratory movement melding into his basic military boxing.
For three days straight, Alex simply hit the bell and coughed blood or gorged on highly nutritious food. On the morning of the fourth day, a dull chime could be heard from the bell. Alex sighed in shock. His punch had merged with the vibration and managed to chime the bell. It was at this time, Alex felt the rapid cellular recovery he was experiencing with every damage within his body had finally faded away.
Finally, a terrifying pain enveloped his body, like a billion ants biting him from the inside. Alex fell to the ground and shrieked from the unbearable pain. He then remembered a note that came along with the scroll, to use healing medicine with this art.
"No wonder..." Alex gritted. "Looks like I finally squeezed out the benefits from the Blood Rebirth." He spent half a day paralyzed in pain on the ground.
Later, he ordered a hundred healing medicines and a huge amount of high nutrition bars. Alex snorted and continued to practice punching the bell. There would now be a chime with every punch, which would leave Alex in searing unbearable pain as he gobbled up a healing medicine to recover and then ate nutrition bars, before beginning again.
He continued this routine for a week, when he heard the bell chime twice from a punch. Alex smiled, his body had been tempered really heavily and had reached its physical limit. It was time for him to eclipse the limit and surpa.s.s it.
The human body had eight physical limits. Usually, Card Apprentices at the peak would break the first physical limit and unlock the first gate with the help of the cards, though there were cases of beginner card apprentices who trained in ancient arts to break the physical limit earlier and allow for a much higher growth in the use of their cards.
Alex, however, was just a card initiate. He had reached his physical limit. Today, when the second chime sounded, Alex knew that when he could sound the third chime, his body would be able to break through the first physical limit. This raised his spirits dramatically.
Alex continued practicing hitting the bell, letting it chime twice and let the sequence of vibrations wreck havoc and temper his body, sending him into an incredible amount of pain each time. Another week pa.s.sed as the neighbors got irritated at the dojo's constant chiming of the bell.
On this day, Alex looked tired. He had panda eyes from a lack of sleep and excessive practice. However, he knew that this was the moment. He steadied his form and punched out as a terrifying vibratory force emerged from his fist striking the bell, causing it two chime.
One time. Two times. And finally thrice. A terrifying rebounding force entered Alex's body as he quickly gulped three healing medicines at once. The terrifying vibrations resonated within his body, bursting apart his veins and capillaries and tempering his body. As the healing medicines gently healed his body, the pain grew to unbearable heights.
Yet at that moment, Alex was able to finally feel his cells explode with energy. Alex broke through the first physical limit and his strength suddenly exploded, condensed and compressed together to become more and more stronger than ever before. He was a card initiate with two rank 1 cards, and he had the physical strength rivalling a peak Card Apprentice.
Alex lay down on the floor in satisfaction. Not only had he broken through the physical limit, Alex had modified his Basic Military Boxing to mold the terrifying vibrations within. After resting for a while, Alex went into the Card Frontier VR world.
He directly entered the 1 card trial tower on the 41st stage. Without even caring about the card of the opponent and not bothering to use it on himself, Alex simply punched out. A terrifying vibratory force hit the opponent and eliminated him.
Fifteen minutes later, in the Card Frontier a huge announcement went out.
"Your Dad is a Noob is the first person to complete the first 50 levels streak in their first attempt in 5 years. Record 50,000 points."
The whole Card Frontier blew up. "Your Dad is a Noob returned! And he blew through a record!"
However, fifteen minutes later another announcement sounded out that changed the atmosphere from excitement to incredulity.
"Your Dad is a Noob is the first person to complete the first 60 levels streak in their first attempt in 5 years. Record 60,000 points."
The forums exploded and people crowded outside the tower. "He cleared twenty levels in half an hour!"
After fifteen more minutes, the incredulity turned to disbelief and shock.
"Your Dad is a Noob is the first person to complete the first 70 levels streak in their first attempt in 6 years. Record 70,000 points."
Alex left the trial tower and found a huge crowd staring at him with disbelief. Alex had blurred his face, so he didn't really care. He ignored the terrified crowd and walked to the store. He looked at the Light attribute special items.
