Alex's life continued with the daily heavy training. One day he heard news of murders taking place in the city. The murders seemed to be absolutely random and it seemed to be carded people ma.s.sacring lots of ordinary people in bursts.
The murderers were often in groups and were suspected of having battle cards. This rumor was especially causing panic at school. Alex was also worried about these terrorist activities.
The ma.s.sacres were causing a lot of backlash towards the government for failing to curb the killings. Especially when it was so clear that card holders were targetting ordinary people.
Alex had been a little lonely these days and had tried to contact his family, however, none of them could be reached. So he immersed himself in training in the gravity chamber.
Initially he struggled even in the 1.2G mode, but as time pa.s.sed he was gradually adjusting the gravity and could tolerate 3Gs now. He also noticed that the more he practiced in the gravitation chamber he felt closer and closer to controlling the statue. At the moment, in the inner world he was the statue, but he couldn't move the statue.
In school, students were still focused on forging their seeds to become stronger and stronger. Alex was one of the very few who still hadn't sensed the Source energy yet. One day the tutor Kim called Alex for a personal meeting.
"Alex, are you aiming to forge the card and enter the world of card users?" Tutor Kim asked him.
"Yes Tutor." Alex answered without a shred of doubt.
"Initially I thought that you lack talent. But during training I have the feeling that you aren't even making an attempt to sense the special energy..." Tutor Kim prodded.
"Can such a thing be sensed?" Alex asked with surprise.
"Even if it could, I couldn't possibly do it. I just have a suspicion." Tutor Kim said.
Alex nodded. "I am not in a hurry. There are still around eight months before the exam."
Tutor Kim's eyes glowed. "Could you perhaps be searching deeper into the inner world?"
Alex thought for a bit about how to answer this. "I am not sure what you mean?" He finally answered.
Tutor Kim sighed. "When I went to the university I learned that the card families focus a lot on going deeper into the inner world before they begin sensing the special energy. Whereas the school taught us to start sensing the special energy as soon as possible.
While the first method might be beneficial, you have to remember that those card families have been training their children since childhood. Thus is is feasible for them to do so, but you just began this year. Are you sure you want to pursue this track?"
Alex nodded. "I believe I have enough time. Till a certain period I would like to continue on my path."
Tutor Kim shook his head and sighed. He gave up on Alex. His talent wasn't great and he was forcing a difficult path on himself as well. He didn't think Alex had much of a chance in the high school finals for the card test.
Back at the dojo, Alex slowly continued his practice in the gravity room and reached 3.5 G. One day the dojo actually had a visitor, while Alex was in the gravity room.
It was a girl about Alex's age who entered the dojo. "Grandpa Ren, my parents have sent some delicacies they brought from a trip." She said as she handed the oldman a bag.
"Oh, little Lily has grown up. You didn't come to visit grandpa Ren for over two years. Are you in school now?" Old man Ren asked.
"I was not living here grandpa Ren. I'm going to the Pinnacle High School now, it is pretty close to this dojo. I transferred to this school this year. I'm in the final year now." Lily said.
"Oh, even my servant is in the same school and year. What a coincidence." Old man Ren smiled.
"Servant?" Lily asked. "A student from the high school is your servant?"
"Don't you see my dojo looks like new now? I got him to renovate everything and make him clean everything now. Such a gold servant, he doesn't even grumble." Old Red laughed.
Lily was shocked, who would come to this rundown dojo to become a servant? Are people so poor now? She wondered, but she soon put it on the back of her mind.
"Grandpa Ren, please visit our house sometime." Lily said.
Old Red smiled. "Okay, I will bring my servant along this weekend."
Lily did not mind and left. Old Ren also got a phone call and left the dojo.
When Lily was returning home, she suddenly remembered she forgot to inform Grandpa Ren about something. Slapping her forehead, she returned to the Dojo and entered.
However, when she entered she found it empty. She called around for Grandpa Ren and looked in the various areas. Finally she came across a sealed room where where the light was glowing.
She looked into the room through the window, to see a young man, s.h.i.+rtless, performing some complicated exercise and sweating profusely.
She saw the man continue to perform the same exercise repeatedly and sweat so much. "The exercise seems a bit hard, but this boy's reaction is so over the top?" She murmured to herself.
She observed the exercise routine and tried to mimic it herself and realized that the exercise was quite hard and she wasn't able to do it completely, which surprised her a bit. She looked into the room further and then noticed the boy calming himself down amd then touching a regulator.
When she saw the regulator her eyes bulged. "3.6 G? Is this a gravity chamber?" The girl had a gravity chamber at her home as well, but it was very state of the art, unlike this old one and thus she failed to recognize it at first.
