"How can a world be so cruel and so beautiful at the same time?" - Mikasa (s.h.i.+ngeki no Kyojin)

Cain looked at the figure pa.s.sing around him with a cautious look and was ready for any sign of strange movement from his grandfather.
Suddenly the figure disappeared completely from his sight and Cain felt all the hair on his body rising up to warn him that he was in danger. With all the effort he moved his head slightly to the side and a punch sc.r.a.ped his cheek so quickly that a burn formed on his face.
Cain looked back and saw a huge fist-shaped hole in the white ivory wall, he lost his breath seeing the power of that punch.
If that punch had hit his head, Cain was sure that his head would be along with the wall at that moment.
"Congratulations my dear grandson, you've learned the basics of dodging," Edgard spoke looking at Cain with satisfaction, in these four months of pure beating, he felt that his grandson had the talent to be a great punching bag.
"Basic? You're telling me these four months of h.e.l.l were just the basics?" Cain spoke to the face that looked like he was gonna cry at any moment. Only he knows what he's been through these four months of torture with his grandfather. This training was so cruel that he lost a few arms, legs, ears to one eye, if Cain wasn't an immortal vampire who could regenerate himself at any moment, he would have been dead a long time ago.
"Yes, it was just the basics, after all, you only trained for four months and already want to escape attacks at lightning speeds? Don't dream child, even if I trained for a thousand years I can't dodge an attack at light speed." Seeing his grandson's crying face, Edgard spoke by tapping Cain's shoulder with a funny tone in his aged voice.

"Let's begin the second stage of his training, magic..." Edgard spoke with a gentle smile on his face, but that smiling face looked more like a demon smiling at his prey.
"The first thing you have to know is what magic. Magic has no physical form, monster hunters say magic and the will of G.o.d, which gave humans to defend themselves from monsters and aberrations." Edgard spoke sitting on the floor while his ring glowed and a pot of wine and two bowls of gold encrusted with rubies appeared in front of the two.
Edgard took the two golden cups and opened the jug of wine. A sweet, pleasant aroma began to spread over tens of meters. Edgard then put the contents of the jug into the two cups and Cain saw a thick red liquid with some golden lines crossing the liquid-like fish swimming in a river.
"That and?" Cain asked Edgard confused, he knows that red liquid and blood, but the golden lines left him confused.
"Blood of the virgin who was burned at the stake, a lovely girl. Unfortunately, she went to see her G.o.d at nineteen, all because of envy and lies. A pity, I've never seen a girl so young command an army as she did." Edgard spoke with a nostalgic smile, remembering a certain girl with short blond hair and beautiful green eyes who hunted him everywhere with the church flag raised for all to see.
"Joan of Arc, right," Cain spoke softly looking at the golden cup containing the red liquid with the golden lines.
"She shall be canonized in 1920, and be declared a saint," Cain spoke softly looking at his grandfather who had the look on his face but showed a shocking look listening to his words.
"In antic.i.p.ation of your Ascension to your long-awaited divine realm, young lady..." Edgard spoke lifting the cup towards heaven while taking a sip of the blood of one of the most vivid women he has ever witnessed in his long existence.
"I won't ask why you know about the future, everyone has their own secrets that they hide in the deepest parts of their heart, but my grandson. Our curse and our immortality, when you are ready to speak, tell someone, if not, that secret will consume from the inside out." Edgard spoke with a gaze full of sadness remembering the things he hid in the depths of his heart and always regrets not having told anyone.
"I seem to have changed the subject, where were we? Yes about the magic..." Before Edgard finished Cain spoke he shook his head and smiled lifting the b.l.o.o.d.y gla.s.s of the future saintly virgin and drank it in one sip.
Because she is a saint, Joan of Arc's blood has a strong effect in purifying evil. If any low or medium-level vampire takes her blood, it will turn to ashes in seconds, but as Cain and Edgard are vampires of the highest level only a strong burning in the throat and stomach happens.
"Leave the training for tomorrow, I'll train four months, a day's rest is fine. Come and drink until the sun lights our heads." Cain spoke to Edgard showing a big smile of happiness on his face.
"Hahaha, yes you're right! Come on, I got a blood cellar of all kinds. Today I will empty everything with you, my grandson." Edgard hearing Cain's words began to laugh out loud and hit the animated floor and didn't realize he'd made a gigantic crater on the floor. Edgard then waved the hand of hundreds of old jars that appeared on the floor, and he began a party with Cain that will last a few days.
Without them noticing, an elderly woman with long white hair and red eyes wearing a black dress and a girl with silver hair around the age of thirteen looked at the two of them in the middle of the training camp with a smile full of happiness.
"Come on Sakuya, we don't want to bother you both at this little party." The old lady spoke calmly leaving the training camp with a relieved smile on her wrinkled face. Sakuya just nodded in agreement and followed the old woman but not before looking for a moment at Cain.
