"Lu Wan."

The voice of a young man entered Lu Wan's ear. Looking at the youth standing before him, he stopped on his track. Even though they rarely talked to one another, Lu Wan could never forget his own older brother. Their similar countenance was clear to the point that it was easy to recognize each other. Now that they had grown to be older, the similarities were easier to spot.

'Even when I'm disguising myself, he can still find me so easily.'

Lu Wan crossed his arm. "What do you want, Brother?"

The young man, Lu Su, looked at Lu Wan with a complicated gaze. For the past few months, everyone from the Lu Family has been overturning the city, trying to find this young boy. He didn't think that during the time he went to check the stores, he would stumble across Lu Wan.

"You broke your promise. I told you that you can only play for one hour," Lu Su's tone was exceptionally calm. His eyes were looking back at Lu Wan with seriousness.

Lu Wan frowned. He did recall asking Lu Su for permission to get out of the residence back in the past. It was just a way to allow him to sneak out of the city and not just stay in this rotten capital city.

"I still don't have enough."

"You have been playing around for too long. Everyone is missing you."

"Do they really miss me?"

Lu Su didn't reply. He was looking straight at his younger brother for a moment then continued, "You already miss so many things. Lu Zhi is going to get married soon, don't you want to see it?"

Lu Wan's lips twitched. If it was in the past, he would really want to see his little sister getting married. But now…

He didn't have any interest to care about that girl anymore.

"I don't want to."

Lu Su was looking at Lu Wan without trying to force the young boy. Even though the guards behind him were already restless since they basically didn't manage to find Lu Wan all this time, they didn't dare to overstep their bounds. The one in front of them was still the young master of Lu Family.

If Lu Su didn't order them anything, they wouldn't do anything too.

"Let's return back."

"What makes you think that I want to return back?"

"Do you want me to force you or ask you nicely?"

Lu Wan pursed his lips. Since when did Lu Su ever use force to make him follow what his brother wanted? He had long known that Lu Su would never attempt something like that. He was too fixated with rules and politics to resort that low.

"Will you even do that?"

"Come on, even though the guards didn't recognize you, do you think that you can get out of the city?" Lu Su asked again, his eyes were still locked on Lu Wan.

Lu Wan's heart tightened when he heard Lu Su's question. He did think that the city has become more crowded as of recently, but he thought it was just because of the new policy. Now that Lu Su mentioned it, he could guess that it must be because of his escape.

No one has been allowed to get out of the capital city without thorough check. If that happened to him, would it be possible for him to get out unscathed?

Lu Su noticed the change in Lu Wan's expression as he extended his arm. "Are you going to come or not, Lu Wan?"

"Are you seriously asking me?" Lu Wan could guess that if he decided not to come, this brother of his would seriously ask the guards to seize him. At that time, it would just create another commotion in the capital city and the news would surely reach the Imperial family. Chen Family wouldn't hesitate at all to send reinforcements if it was necessary to take him.

"I just want to know your decision."

"Fine, let's go home."

Following behind his brother, Lu Wan didn't utter any words. He silently followed after his brother. Looking at the familiar residence, he didn't think too much as he entered through the door. His father, Lu Changqing, was standing near the door, already waiting for him.

"I'm home," Lu Wan said in a low tone.

Lu Changqing looked at him with his indifferent and cold expression. The moment the door was closed, he raised his hand.

PLAK!

"I give you freedom to do what you wish in this place, but you're still this kingdom's subject. Do not forget your position, Lu Wan."

"Yes, I understand," Lu Wan replied without emotion.

"What do you think you're going to achieve by running away from home? Do you really think so little of Chen Kingdom?

Think so little?

Lu Wan raised his head, there was stubborn glare within his eyes when he looked at his father. There was not even the slightest bit of regret visible in his eyes.

Seeing his stubbornness, Lu Changqing's expression turned a bit colder. "You don't even understand the repercussion from running away this time, Lu Wan?"

"I understand."

"No, you don't."

Lu Wan pursed his lips and looked back at his father. "What do you want me to do, then? Stay here until I die in this rotten place with no hope for anything?"

"Lu Wan!"

"I don't want to stay in the residence all the time, Brother," Lu Wan said each word slowly to his brother. He was looking at his brother's expression with clarity.

Lu Su didn't reply and sighed when he looked at his younger brother. There were so many things left unsaid in their family because it was simply so complicated. It would be much easier to just let nature did their work.

The matter with his younger brother was precisely one of the things that they could never speak out loudly.

The three men looked at one another as they stayed silent. It was as if they were communicating without words.
