The look in Crazy eye made me think back to the day I turn sixteen. In that time I had a two-year window before the protection wore off and anyone and everyone could track my existence. IF my mate had shown I'd begin the process.
By doing so I had his protection against the world. But since he didn't I had a choice of going to heaven and the ice coffin thing. Both had draw backs since my ice coffin was made with my own magic.
"She's powerful enough." I said,
"No,"
"It will save her life and give her a chance." I told him in a matter of fact tone, "He's not ready. They'll die with the war out there."
There was a long pause. Magic was different than money. You could create money but all magic had a cost. It just depended on who was paying for it.
"She's so young,"
"She will live."
You'd be surprised at how many tragedies happen to blood that was weaklings. I did a study once the life expectancy was twenty-two. For those with stronger blood with a contract well they lived longer into the hundreds of years but never to their life expectancy.
My aunt Morgan once said that even the strongest was weak against love. It was a sad way to view the most treasured thing in your life but it was true.
Then again I believe that she'd spent a day with her mate before they were apart. To this day I still don't know what happens to him as talking of mates was forbidden.
"But she'll be miserable."
"Think of your grandchildren," I said, remembering that he had one grandchild,
A boy name Lenley that had died in the mage war in ten years time. Another sad tale but the future was littered with sad tales.
"They don't exist yet."
"And they may never will if you don't do it right. Don't you trust me?" I asked smirking at him evilly.
