"Can you just get on with it, I don't have all day," I said impatiently,
Evidently, Peter was expecting an answer. He was getting a little annoy at me for opening my mouth but ignore me focusing on the Rolland. After squinting at the young Knight for a moment, he turned back to Ninianne's will. There was more distaste in his face that had me intrude, the lady was quite forward for her time, my aunts hardly liked to break tradition even if they were the ones that set it up a long time ago.
"To Drake the Brave, I leave my bank account and trust fund, in hope that the money will be well used."Peter pulled out a small golden credit card with her name on it.
That gold card. Impressive.
Drake took it from Peter without a word. He tucked in his front pocket and sat very still. I think I saw a tear slide down his cheek. A touching moment that was about to be ruined with Peters incensitiveness. The man needed to have a bit more heart. I could see why Diana didn't enjoy his company any more.
"Why do you think Ninianne left you her account, Drake?" asked Peter.
"She wanted the money put to good use," said Drake in a thick voice.
It was a good answer but not what Peter wanted to hear. Sadly, there was nothing really to tell. The Knights didn't know anything. I saw they were as surprised by her death as I was, and I saw her aura.
"But why did it have to be you?"
"I don't know. Maybe she'd known I'll be staying. I like fighting and helping people."
"Did you ever discuss this with Ninianne?"
"No, I didn't," said Drake, his voice turn hard. "And if there was something specific she wanted me to do I don't remember her ordering it."
Peter face distorted. I really wanted him out. He was being rude and mean, and his aura was an ugly red. Then as if by magic the color change to blue. And Peter turned back to the will so casually like he was switched.
"To Genevian Roxanna Armini Yoit," he read, "I leave the pendant of Yoit, a stone of beauty and growth, in hope that your dreams and deepest desire may come true."
My heart was beating too fast I could hear the rhythm in me. I never expected it. This stone had the power of choice, it allows any seer who possesses it to see clearly into her own future and change it for the better. In my last life, the stone had been stolen before the reading of the wills, the thieves were never caught, but my aunt said a Devil was involved. I also think that sometime during her death, it was used on her.
The stone was critical to my survival. It would show me how to change things. I still stun as Peter pulled out the tiny pendant and it s.h.i.+mmers a little and the candles dim.
