"Oh!" Xuan Tianyi said nonchalantly. Still staring into Hua Zhendan's face, he quickly added, "Xuan Tianmei isn't here, she's running an errand."

Hua Zhendan frowned, disappointed at Xuan Tianyi's lack of reaction. Was it that Xuan Tianyi was expecting to see him here, so he wasn't surprised or was it that Xuan Tianyi didn't recognize him at all? The possibility of either conjecture being true was equally appalling.

"Okay," Hua Zhendan said as he moved his body from the doorframe and walked towards Xuan Tianyi. If Xuan Tianyi didn't recognize him, he'd make him.

"Have we met before?" he asked.

Xuan Tianyi looked up at him and chuckled. He then said, "You don't look bad at all. As a matter of fact, you're my type. If you want to grab a drink together later, you just need to ask."

Hua Zhendan frowned. He knew firsthand what this shameless person was trying to imply. It was possible that Xuan Tianyi didn't recognize him. Sc.r.a.p that, it was evident that Xuan Tianyi didn't remember him.

Was he such a lousy f.u.c.k that one night had been so unmemorable for Xuan Tianyi?

s.h.i.+t! He probably hit on people in this manner all the time. Was there any person sane enough that he would be able to resist the charm and beauty this man exuded? Xuan Tianyi probably had so many partners all the time. It was no surprise he didn't remember him.

While he had managed to build a home in his head for the both of them to live in that night, Xuan Tianyi had already moved on to the next person. Or people.

Xuan Tianyi sighed and said, "If you're shy, then I'll ask. Do you want to grab a drink together later? Hmm, the bill's on you though," he chuckled, seemingly embarra.s.sed.

This combination of aggression and embarra.s.sment was usually guaranteed to make anyone's blood boil. Xuan Tianyi knew that. It wasn't something he faked though. It came naturally to him. It was his charm that's worked on many men in the past. Surprisingly, Hua Zhendan seemed unmoved.

He moved closer to Zhendan's ear and whispered, "I'm versatile."

Pained, Hua Zhendan stared into the unapologetically pretty face of Xuan Tianyi and asked, "So, you don't know who I am at all?"

Surprised at this question, Xuan Tianyi moved backward and stared at Zhendan. With a quizzical look on his face, he asked, "Who are you?"

Hua Zhendan bit his tongue. It would be shameful to say he was a one-night-stand Xuan Tianyi didn't call back. He looked at him and said in a bitter tone, "I'm Xuan Tianmei's boss, Zhendan."

The effect of this sentence wasn't one Hua Zhendan would have predicted. He watched as the Xuan Tianyi who was being so provocative just moments ago recoiled and was now as shaky as a mouse drenched with water.

"I... I'm sorry. I didn't know," Xuan Tianyi stammered.

Satisfied at his reaction, Hua Zhendan chuckled. If he knew he could get the other person's submission with this method, he would've tried it a long time ago. Perhaps that night they met. Perhaps Xuan Tianyi wouldn't have dared to forget him so carelessly. "What's your name?"

Looking down, Xuan Tianyi stammered again, "Xu... Xuan Tianyi. I'm Xuan Tianmei's brother — twin brother."

Feeling enlightened, Hua Zhendan gave Xuan Tianyi a lingering look. It was rare for male and female twins to look identical, but Xuan Tianyi and Xuan Tianmei did. Both had the same height, same upper and lower body lengths, the same face, and while Xuan Tianyi could be said to be a pretty guy — as he was more beautiful than he was handsome, he came out slightly in the essential parts of the human anatomy where Xuan Tianmei went in. This pair had to be the most beautiful set of twins heaven ever created.

Hua Zhendan stared at Xuan Tianyi, with bitterness and hatred burning his heart. He nodded and said, "I see."

He stared at Xuan Tianyi who now looked feeble and calm. With a face and body like this, he could easily pique Calvin Klein's interest in his agency.

As p.i.s.sed off as he was at Xuan Tianyi, this kind of beauty meant money. He was a businessman, and there was no way he was letting his prejudice against Xuan Tianyi get in the way of his money. Tactfully, he asked Xuan Tianyi, "Do you work here?"

"No... Yes, Hmm, not officially," Xuan Tianyi was still stuttering. Steadying his heartbeat, he managed to compose himself and continue, "I started today. I'm a.s.sisting Xuan Tianmei, and she said she's gonna pay me. So, I, um… Technically work here."

Hua Zhendan frowned. He didn't know Xuan Tianmei needed an a.s.sistant. If she did, all she had to do was ask. She had her name on a door not because she was beautiful, but because she was valuable, and that name on that door gave her the right to make demands. Not all of them would be met of course, but important ones, such as needing an a.s.sistant would be guaranteed. More so, the company would handle the paycheck of the employed a.s.sistant.

Xuan Tianmei was too good for her good. How she had such a shameless brother, Hua Zhendan couldn't understand. Apparently, their similarities ended at their looks.

"So you don't do anything then?" Hua Zhendan asked in a cold voice.

Xuan Tianyi shook his head and replied, "I'm currently unemployed."

Hua Zhendan stared at him. This reserved Xuan Tianyi was no good. It made him look like he needed mollifying. As hate was all Hua Zhendan felt for him, this was difficult. Putting his emotions in check, he asked, "Have you ever considered modeling?"

Xuan Tianyi nodded. He was very aware of his own beauty after all. To Zhendan's surprise, he said, "I just don't think that lifestyle suits my personality."

Hua Zhendan almost scoffed. A philanderer without morals like you. Of course, that lifestyle suits your personality. This show of modesty was a bit over the edge.

He brought a business card out of his wallet and stretched it out, so it was right in front of Xuan Tianyi's face.

Xuan Tianyi took it and stared at it carefully.

"Don't make up your mind too quickly. Think about it," Hua Zhendan said softly. "You have the potential to become a star. If you've made up your mind, give me a call."

Xuan Tianyi nodded.

Just then, Xuan Tianmei's voice came from the door, "Stupid Xuan Tianyi. Why don't you pick your calls, huh?"

Xuan Tianmei was panting heavily while Xuan Tianyi stared at her like he was trying to send her a cryptic message.

"I'm sorry, that must've been my fault," Hua Zhendan stared at Xuan Tianmei sympathetically. He did feel sorry for Xuan Tianmei. Being Xuan Tianyi's brother must indeed be a misfortune.

"Oh! President — President Hua," it was Xuan Tianmei's turn to be feeble. Hua Zhendan had always been friendly, and she had a nice acquaintances.h.i.+p with him. The problem was, she had never been this impolite in his presence before.

"It's okay," Hua Zhendan waved his hand dismissively and walked towards the door.

Hua Zhendan stopped at the door and turned to look at Xuan Tianyi. He then said, "Think about it."

Hua Zhendan c.o.c.ked his head to the right. "Moreover, that counter isn't made for sitting." With that, he walked away from the office.

Xuan Tianyi stared at the doorframe where Hua Zhendan had stood. Why was this guy somewhat pleasant, yet terrifying at the same time?
