Therius smiled faintly at Emma's threat. He raised his hand to ruffle her hair and chuckled. 'Still fierce as always.'
Emma immediately brushed Therius' hand off her head and glared. 'Do not touch me!'
"Miss, your friend is at Doctor Salas' clinic. I have admitted defeat to you and decided to take him to the s.h.i.+p to receive treatment. Do you want to visit him?" Therius said in Akkadian language.
He saw how the people around them looked baffled by his interaction with Emma, so he decided to talk to Emma in Akkadian. He did not want them to suspect that either of them or both were telemancers.
Emma was very surprised to hear Therius's words.
Haoran was in this s.h.i.+p with her???
Emma was stunned. Instantly she stopped caring that she was no longer on earth. The only thing that mattered to her was Haoran.
"Take me to him now ..." Emma said. Her voice softened, and she was longer harsh toward Therius.
She could guess that the man had a high position in this s.h.i.+p, even though he might not be the real crown prince. She had humiliated Therius earlier by slapping him. She was lucky he didn't take offense the first time.
However, if Emma continued to act aggressively, maybe Therius wouldn't be as generous. After all, he was a man and held a leaders.h.i.+p position here. He must have his pride and wouldn't want to be embarra.s.sed in front of the crew.
Emma didn't care about herself. If Therius would feel offended and punish her, she would fight him. However, knowing that Haoran was on board, she was worried that Therius would do something to him if Emma was to wreak havoc.
Therius looked at Emma intently and realized that the girl's att.i.tude had changed. She was no longer rude toward him.
A thin smile curved up on his lips. This girl was quite good at reading the situations, he thought happily. He knew he deserved her anger, but it was nice to see her no longer treating him like he was a monster.
Meanwhile, Saul swallowed when he saw a thin smile on his boss's face. He thought to himself, apparently, Therius was in a really good mood today, after being grumpy for days.
Saul immediately suspected that the relations.h.i.+p between Therius and this mysterious girl was quite complicated. Was she the girl they came to get all the way to the Milky Way galaxy?
Inwardly, he could already guess who the girl really was, but he didn't dare to say anything. If he was right, he couldn't imagine the uproar in Akkadia when they were back. This is really big!
"You can see him," Therius said, nodding. He turned to Natan and spoke to him in a commanding tone. "Doctor Salas. Please show us the way."
Natan nodded respectfully. He waved his hand to signal Emma to follow him. "Please come with me, Miss. I just realized you are our guest that Doctor Atila has been treating for days. I am glad to see that you are now well."
"Doctor Atila?" Emma frowned.
"Doctor Atila is my colleague. Sir Therius thought you might be more comfortable with a female doctor." Natan explained.
"Oh ..." Emma turned to Therius. The man was walking casually with his hand in his pocket in the direction Doctor Salas was pointing. Emma wondered how long she was unconscious. She then asked Therius. "How long did I sleep?"
Therius answered without looking at her. "Around 70 hours."
"Oh ..." Emma nodded.
It's been a long time. The last thing she remembered before she fainted was she hit Therius with electromancy to hurt him, but she was bounced off when Therius's body reflexively resisting her attack with fire. She could still imagine the heat. Ugh... it was violet flame, one of the hottest flames there was.
Was I hurt badly? Emma furrowed her brows. She felt her body and breathed a sigh of relief when she realized she wasn't in any pain.
She actually felt healthy and fresh. Ahh ... she hoped Haoran's condition had improved after being treated by doctors from Akkadia with their sophisticated medical technology. Emma prayed silently.
They got into an elevator, went down to the lowest floor, and then walked down the hallway. Emma wondered how many levels were there on this s.h.i.+p and how big it was. She decided to keep her questions for later and now only focused on Haoran.
They entered the clinic and immediately saw several capsules-like beds on either side with various complicated-looking machines attached to them.
"Welcome to my clinic," Natan said with a proud smile. He seemed to love his job and his workplace. "We treat all patients from mild flu to serious injuries."
"Where is Haoran?" Emma did not want to listen to Natan's chatter and immediately asked to be taken to Haoran.
Therius nodded at Natan, and the man immediately bowed.
"Your friend is in a long term treatment facility, next door. We give him special treatment because his conditions are also ... special." Natan stretched out his hand and signaled Emma to follow him. The doctor walked to the right and opened the door to the room he referred to.
Therius just stood in his place, watching Emma and Natan enter the long term treatment facility. He did not want to come with them into the room where Haoran was being treated because he was jealous of that man.
He did not want to see Haoran and only checked his progress to Natan every day. So far, according to Natan's observations, Haoran's condition was still critical. Natan couldn't be sure if Haoran could recover completely.
Therius was convinced that Haoran's best option was to die since his brain was too damaged to even wake up. Death was better than having to stay in a coma, like he was now, for G.o.ds knew how long.
However, Therius did not want to make that decision himself. He wanted Emma to see Haoran's condition and make her choice.
When the door opened, and they entered the special room, Emma saw Haoran lying in bed that looked like one of those transparent capsules outside. His eyes were closed, and his face looked very peaceful.
His body was covered from the waist down by a gray blanket. Emma could see some chips and tubing on his chest, head, and arms, connected to the big machine next to the capsule.
Emma sauntered to the capsule where Haoran was treated and touched his face from outside. She couldn't touch him physically, but she felt like she could feel his skin from the gla.s.s. Her tears dripped one after another.
"How is his condition, Doctor Salas?" Emma asked Natan without looking away from Haoran's peaceful face.
"Hmm ... actually, this patient's condition is terminal. The brain hemorrhage was too severe and had killed many brain cells. The surgery performed couldn't repair the damage. We are trying to provide treatment to force his brain to carry out neurogenesis and grow new cells, but this process will take a very long time. Even if his brain finally manages to recover, the patient will need even longer rehabilitation time."
Emma pressed her palm on the gla.s.s and looked at Haoran deeply.
There is still hope...
"How long?" asked Emma.
"Hmm ... we have never seen a case as severe as this that could recover 100%, so I can't estimate exactly how long," Natan said. "Maybe years."
Emma nodded.
There is still hope, she kept telling herself.
She turned to Natan and touched his shoulder. The girl's face slowly looked relieved. "Thank you, Doctor Salas."
Emma touched Haoran's cheek again from the gla.s.s and smiled. She would wait for Haoran to recover, even if it takes years.
Emma wanted to sit there and looked at Haoran all day, but she held back that desire. She must see Therius and discuss her status and Haoran's on this s.h.i.+p.
