Therius began his cla.s.s by writing down 50 alphabets on the board with a marker. "Our old alphabet has 50 letters, and the modern alphabet has only 35 letters. Akkadian is a tonal language, which means even though the letters might be the same, but the meaning of the words produced can be different, depending on the tones used."

Emma swallowed hard. This means she must learn two languages ​​at once, namely the old and the modern ones. Moreover, she had to work extra hard since Akkadian was a tonal language. The tonal languages are some of the most difficult ones ​​to learn. The emphasis and tone must be absolutely correct to produce the right words.

Examples of tonal languages ​​are Thai and Chinese. Using the wrong tone for certain words could make people misunderstand what you were trying to say and words could get mixed up horribly.

"Okay ... I understand," Emma said, taking a deep breath. Therius told her to rewrite each letter in her notebook, and then asked Emma to memorize the first ten letters. After that, he would write down ten words using the combination of those ten letters and ask Emma to read them. 

Once she did it, Therius asked Emma to memorize those ten words. He then displayed ten pictures on the screen that matched the ten new words that Emma had just learned and asked the girl to rewrite them from memory.

Emma didn't always succeed, and she made a few mistakes each time, but Therius didn't say anything at all. He seemed patient and relaxed, repeating his words and instructions. In just one hour, Emma managed to memorize ten new letters and write down fifty objects using a combination of those ten letters.

"You are very smart. If you continue like this and keep studying hard, you will be able to read those books in the cabinet within one month," Therius praised Emma after she successfully wrote down fifty new words at the end of the two-hour session.

Emma felt her rapid progress in her learning was due to her teacher's patience. She studied Mandarin in school since she was a child and it took years for her to understand it properly, even though she was a genius. Her teachers were not as patient as this guy in front of her.

However, she did not want to show Therius that she was grateful and how she admired the technique and the way the prince taught her. Emma just shrugged and pretended not to care.

And suddenly, two hours went by just like that. Therius closed his book and turned off the multimedia screen. "Cla.s.s is over."

"Hmm ..." Emma took her notebook and rose from her chair. "Can I bring my notebook so I can study it myself in my room?"

"Of course," said Therius. He also handed a tablet to Emma. "This is for you. It contains many important study materials."

"Hmm ..." Emma nodded. She received the tablet from Therius' hand and rushed out.

"If you want to see me and Xion practice our powers and take some notes, we will be in the training room an hour from now. Don't you want to see how he uses his aeromancy?" Therius asked suddenly.

She then walked away.

After the girl left the library, Xion patted Therius's shoulder.

"You have a talent for teaching. I had no idea," he commented.

Therius coughed and shrugged. "It's not difficult at all. She is very smart."

"Hmm ... did you deliberately use this excuse to get closer to her?" Xion asked again. "This is a good plan. But what will you do if her husband wakes up from his coma?"

Therius looked at the window and watched the stars outside. His expression looked grave.
