"Why did you give him your real name? The announcer had already announced you as Feng Hua. Don't forget that we need to keep her disappearance under covers."
She sighed and turned away from the empty doorway to continue on with her duties.
Van left the side building and walk outside to take a big stretch as he felt the sun bathed him in warm rays of sunlight. Then, he started to walk towards the main building of the Missions Divison once more. He immediately went up to the floor for Gold and inspected the missions board. There were many more missions on this floor listed for hunting than the one on the Wood ranked floor. There were even a few high difficulty missions that required one to hunt notorious loose cultivators causing trouble in the Middle Continent. Van also caught a few pieces of information on Feng Hua. Now that he knew the Examiner's true name, he wanted to find out more information on who she was replacing.
It turned out that Feng Hua was an inner sect elder with a very erratic personality, which resulted in information on her, and her character, to be very vague and inconclusive.
Van's eyes continued to roam between three that interested him. One of them was for picking a spirit herb guarded by a high ranking beast. Another was for hunting a group of Loose Cultivators. While the last was for hunting beasts in the nearby Nine Cloud Mountain Range. After some careful consideration - and a small game of Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe - he decided to go with the Nine Cloud Mountain Range. After all, he needed to develop his combat skills first against just raw strength.
After nodding his head with satisfaction, Van touched his command medallion to the sheet of paper. The red stamp on the paper slowly disappeared as a red stream of Qi flowed into his jade medallion, causing it to illuminate a fragile red glow. After a few moments, the Jade medallion returned to normal and Van headed to the mission request registration to finalize the mission approval. As he approached the counter, a youth stepped in his way. Van looked up to find that this youth looked to be about 15, a full 2 years older than him.
A sneer seemed to be permanently plastered to the youth's face as if his arrogance was the source of his ident.i.ty. Van stared at the youth, an impa.s.sive expression upon his face. As if Van had insulted his mother, the youth's expression contorted into one of deep rage.
"That's my mission! How dare you take this young master's mission?!"
After a small tirade, the youth, seeing that Van was still calmly gesturing for the youth to move aside, drew his hand back to slap Van. As the fast-moving hand was about to catch the side of Van's face, it seemed to pa.s.s through his head.
"Huh?!"
The youth was surprised to find that Van had suddenly stepped back a few meters away from him. The youth tried again and again, but eventually exhausted himself and found that Van had gently knocked him over onto the cold hardwood floor. Just a moment before, Van had gently hit the youth's pressure points and caused his body to collapse, and had gently placed the youth down in that one instant. After regaining the use of his limbs, the youth shuddered as he remembered what Van had said to him.
"I try my best to be kind, but I will kill all who insist that they stand in my way."
Van continued on the counter, handing over his Jade medallion. The shocked Missions Division disciple quickly recovered and handed to Van a piece of paper. Van pressed his thumb on the indicated s.p.a.ce and the Qi sensitive ink reformed itself into his own exclusive Qi signature. Van returned the paper to the disciple before heading back to his humble abode, to prepare for the long journey ahead.
For some reason, Van had a sudden urge to whistle, and whistle he did. By unconsciously imbuing his whistle with Qi, it placed a beneficial pressure on those nearby. Feeling the pressure, some disciples pa.s.sing by Van started to raise their voices in protest but stopped when they noticed that their Qi was starting to refine itself under the pressure. Instead, the calmly moved on, trying to find the source of the opportunity. Van, unbeknownst to him, was now being followed by a rather large crowd of disciples. When he made it to the Inner Disciples' living quarters, he had a lost a big chunk but there were still a few that continued to follow him.
Van opened the gate and turned to close the gate behind him to find the crowd that awaited him. His jaw dropped as he just realized the commotion he had caused. He scrambled his brain for any reason for the crowd. After realizing that some of his Qi had left his body, he started to piece the situation together. After a few awkward explanations, the crowd dispersed and Van was left to his packing.
Van decided to grab some necessities, such as food, drink, and cultivation resources. He locked his Immortal's Cave down with a short burst of Qi from his fingertip. After that, he headed to the Alchemists' Division and purchased a few pills for combat recovery, a berserk pill, and a few other pills that would be useful for the journey ahead. And just like that, Van was prepared to start the journey that lay ahead of him.
