Hearing Zhou Lei's strangely enthusiastic voice, the stranger didn't know how to respond. "Um... yes. So what?"
While on Lin Guiying's side, she had no idea how to respond either. 'This guy... he's gonna go on another long tirade.'
Sure enough, her predictions were spot-on.
Zhou Lei held the person's hands tighter, his face not even bothering to conceal the smile that grew wider by the second. "M- me too!"
"I'm a big fan of Lin Guiying. I dare say I'm the number one fan of Lin Guiying. If I say I'm second, no one would claim first!"
The person, who was too dumbfounded to notice the tightening grasp on her hands, stuttered with her words. "Wh- what's that got to do with me?"
Unfortunately for her, Zhou Lei started to rant already. With enthusiasm that could trump a seal's that had just been given a ball to play with, he opened his mouth, and a continuous string of words came out.
"Do you wanna know why I like... no, love Lin Guiying? Of course you do, let me tell you all the reasons why she's a G.o.ddess. Wait, wait, wait, that's an impossible task, for the reasons are endless! Well, I guess I'll try to list some of the reasons... but don't think that it's limited to these only!"
Lin Guiying felt two emotions right now: embarra.s.sment and, well, embarra.s.sment.
The first being felt as a third party watching two people converse about an idol. No, it wasn't even conversing, it was more of one person forcing the other to listen to him. Well, the embarra.s.sment she felt was worse, since she knew the person who was speaking like a fanatic, and moreso, she was her best friend...
The second kind of embarra.s.sment had something more to do with her secret ident.i.ty. Hearing someone speak so highly of her, even if she grew a thicker skin than she had right now... scratch that, even if she grew the thickest skin on the planet, she still wouldn't be able to bear the praises that she heard almost every day! What's more was the fact that, again, the one spewing those praises was none other than her previous friend.
With her brain not being able to handle these two kinds of embarra.s.sment at once, Lin Guiying short-circuited, and she raised her leg and stepped away like a robot. Her mechanical walking garnered no attention, and she successfully slipped out of the stressful situation she was in. Soon enough, she found herself outside the arcade, whistling her worries away without anyone caring about her.
This was because of the fact that everyone's attention was focused on Zhou Lei, and his actions that looked like it was hara.s.sment... Both his wide palms covered the pet.i.te ones of the girl in front of him, and he was unknowingly inching his head closer.
"...and did you see Episode 16 of Comet Garden where Lin Guiying turned around in a spectacular fas.h.i.+on? Her hair swayed with the wind; oh, it was such a beautiful moment that I had to record it in my memory archives."
His statements became more and more outlandish, making the spectators think that he was weird.
"In her concert last year, did you see how she extended her foot and placed it down on the floor...? Oh, that was absolutely phenomenal footwork, I cant imagine anyone else doing it other than her!"
The radius around Zhou Lei and the girl became less and less lively as time went on. Soon enough, silence ensued, with only Zhou Lei's voice being heard by the bystanders.
"You see, I actually saw Lin Guiying in my dream once. She sang right in front of me, in the middle of the concert hall, where I was the only attendee. It was so romantic, if the dream continued, then...!"
Whether it was out of embarra.s.sment, anger or something else entirely, the girl turned her head down, only letting her hat be visible to Zhou Lei. Still, the latter did not stop...
In the end, a person watching by the side could not handle it anymore and walked towards the two.
"Hey, you! What do you think you're doing?"
The sudden shout startled not only Zhou Lei, but many of the people around the area. Since it was silent, the shout echoed through the room.
Zhou Lei snapped out of the dangerous state he was in. As soon as he saw the limited edition hat that he could not afford show up in front of him so abruptly, he lost control of himself.
He a.n.a.lyzed the situation. Firstly, he glanced at the girl, who had been looking at the floor. She seemed to exude an aura of hatred and fear towards him, causing Zhou Lei to let go of her hands and take a step back.
After that, he looked around him, and numerous people looked at him with an indescribable expression, a mix of both pity and contempt.
Finally, he faced the man who raised his voice against him, and seeing his expression, Zhou Lei shuddered. 'Th- this man is so angry...'
Memories of his bullies relapsed in his mind, and the poor boy felt a weakness strike his knees, making his legs shake in a struggle to stay standing.
"Wh- what do you want...?" With a timid voice, Zhou Lei asked the man.
The complete change in tone from the handsome youth startled most of the bystanders, who had expected him to stand up for himself. From such a confident and self-a.s.sured voice, it degraded to an extent until they could barely hear him anymore.
The man, who had acted on impulse, saw the expression of absolute fear on the student's face, and he felt regret wash over him. However, he had his own pride to maintain, it was too late to back down now.

'Besides,' he thought, 'his pitiful face doesn't excuse him from the fact that he hara.s.sed the girl out of his own volition.'
Thinking this, the man became more confident in his actions and walked forward with a deepened desire to teach Zhou Lei a lesson he would never forget.
