Most of the children were turned even some of the parents who had decided to not to embrace the change had brought them to the palace. There were also the orphans of those who had perished fighting the undead, there were about a hundred who had lost either parents or guardians in the attacks and so they were adopted into directly into his house.
He suspected there were more orphans amongst the elves, there were several hundred children that had arrived while there were just over a thousand adults. Unless most of the elves that came here were very l.u.s.tful people it would appear that someone is going against him. He currently had his scouts watching for whoever was hiding the children from him and he would make an extreme example of this person who broke the law.
Waking up with a start, Salem looked about the room, he must have fallen asleep while planning his next step. He could sense the twins nearby watching over him while he took a nap, getting up from his comfortable bed he walked out of the bedroom to see the twins talking with their apprentices.
Before they could react, he reached them and gave them each a hug and a kiss, making the children giggle at their respected masters."I will be going to my study, please come keep me company and bring the apprentices so you can keep teaching them, they have a lot to learn from such great teachers," he winked at the kids, gaining another round of laughter.
The Twins smiled at the teasing and followed him to his study, they motioned for their students to follow them, moving quickly they caught up to Salem. He walked along the corridor until he reached his study surprisingly he found Railia outside of it. He stepped forward and opened the door for them all, while Railia walked over to him and clung to him.
Laughing in his mind, Salem couldn't believe she was three hundred years old, she seemed to have a mixed personality of a leader and a young girl who had never gotten her first love. He hugged her and gave her a kiss, he led her into his study while the twins taught there apprentices battle tactics and taught them elvish with the help of the system.
Once they could speak it, they would start learning magic, the knights themselves were learning magic from a simplified version of the system through him. Though it would take them longer to learn, they would be able to pa.s.s on the knowledge to their apprentices and gain the respect they deserved for being masters in their crafts.
Grabbing a list of reports that had been brought by one of the knights, he looked over the results of his search for local wild, the reports showed rats, various birds, a few deer had managed to sneak into the forest which made him smile that life was coming to his lands.
There were herbivores and predators abound in his lands and each one had pros and cons to selecting one as the mount he and his kin would use. He had originally thought to choose either the deer or one of the predators but there was one that had been on the bottom of the list. It was a centipede about the height of a horse and being twice as long.
It was currently being held by a wraith captain and he was unsure of what to do with it, once the order for wildlife came it was sent back with the centipede and would be arriving in a few hours. He was curious if the centipede could be tamed and ridden.
A question he asked the system, which he was told it was possible but he was going to need to use the remaining marrow and seed pills left over from the feast for it to receive his bloodline as the bonding agent. Then the system would act through his bloodline to remake the centipedes' bloodline and plot out a new path of evolution for it and any of its sp.a.w.n.
The only issue was that he would need to be in physical contact with the beast while the system did its work, which wouldn't be a problem except it was extremely poisonous, and that factor had drawn him into wanting it. It would be fast, armored, and lethal and with the system designing its future it would become a mount worthy of him and his knights.
Smiling he looked over at the girl who had moved her chair right next to his, Railia was shoulder to shoulder with him. She was playing with the ring he made her, turning it and taking it off to inspect it and the runes etched into it, always with a cute smile on her face.
A raven with green eyes watched what appeared to be a couple, but they had several children of the same age with them as they moved about the buildings until they reached a newly built one that had yet to be furnished due to the breakdown between Koftas and Void city. The man and woman walked to the door where a female elder of the Curon tribe stood waiting, the couple bowed and moved the children into the house and left a few minutes later without the children.
They didn't notice the rats that were keeping an eye on them, they were followed all over the city leading the furry menace to several safe houses where children who had not been reported as orphans were huddled into groups.
"Found you," Salem said aloud, standing up he summoned the remaining knights to gather some troops, he then drew pictures of the culprits and their current locations, once the guards arrived he handed out the pictures and any info he had on them, courtesy of Railia.
"You have your orders, find and arrest these individuals, and bring those children home," Salem looked upon the twelve knights in front of him, they matched his gaze before nodding in confirmation. They donned their masks and armor and left, each taking two hundred wraiths as their forces, any more and it would draw too much attention.
These elves must think so very little of me to directly challenge the law of their benefactor and city lord. Sitting at his desk watching the twins and secretly teasing Railia under her robes he wondered to himself what would the best punishment be for these outlaws.
