Before they left, he stopped them saying he had made a gift for the city lords and the families who had a.s.sisted him in regaining the elves freedom. They would receive their own gifts once they returned with their families, he wanted to award them in front of his guests.
He took out two small wooden chests, each carved with vines that interlinked between each chest, "These rings will allow whoever wears them a strength three times more than their peak state, though the cost would be drained stamina, it could easily save your life."
Opening the chests, he showed them the rings, their eyes lit up at the sight of such powerful enchanted objects, these rings alone would easily buy all the slaves on the market. Their lords would have been more willing if they had known about this reward, though this might have been given as a sign of grat.i.tude and not payment.
He gave each one a chest, they bowed and thanked him for the gift and hurried back to the forts, they needed to oversee the s.h.i.+pments of weapons and armor that were heading back to their cities, and bring these rings back to their city lords immediately. They could make quite the difference in the war on the undead.
Salem's smile faded once the amba.s.sadors left the palace, his girls stood behind him, "Ready your troops, you will take two shades each, infiltrate and free our kin. Get back to the city quickly, once the amba.s.sadors and the others that we invited arrive seal the mountain."
Jennah stepped forward with concern in her eyes, "Master, must you go to them? I don't think they will let you leave should you enter their territory."
Salem walked over and pulled her close to him, he kissed her till she was out of breath, after breaking the kiss he smiled at her blus.h.i.+ng face, "Don't worry, I will stay at the edge of their territory and will only be there to talk. I still have a few tricks to escape if they try to pin me down.
Once I return, if they accept the terms, then we can take care of the n.o.ble houses in one go. Citizens will be allowed to evacuate into my domain, though the cost will be exceptionally high to take refuge within my city, it is better than death and eternal enslavement."
They donned their armor and raised their hoods to cover their masks, Salem gave each of them a hug telling them to be safe with a whisper. He teleported from the palace to the warren, he took half of the little demons with him before teleporting back up to the ground floor.
He took a breath before he teleported multiple times to reach a crevice against the side of the cavern, he leaned against the wall taking deep breaths and trying to clear his head, repeated use of the ability was still disorienting for him.
He looked around him making sure he was alone, he chanted and placed a palm on the wall, the crevice began to break apart. The stones that fell landed on one another until a stone gateway had a.s.sembled in front of him.
The gateway led down into a dark tunnel, the tunnel was small only one person at a time could march into the darkness that awaited them. Salem ran forward into that darkness, his eyes glowed brightly, he had no issues traveling in the dark places of the world.
The gateway closed behind him like the mountain had swallowed him whole.
Jennah and Annah went to Koftas while the Twins went to Idos, they only took two hundred wraiths to each city. They had reinforcements at the ready but it would be best if they could sneak into the holding cells and rescue their remaining kin as quietly as possible.
The Twins made their way through the secret tunnels to Idos, they arrived an hour before dawn the next day, the tunnel let out next to a sewer. Green eyed rats awaited them at the entrance to the foul tunnels that went below Idos.
Taking another fifteen minutes to sprint through the sewers they arrived at the first location of their enslaved kin. They crept out of the sewer and eased through the alley, they arrived outside a large warehouse, two guards stood on a small balcony overlooking the street.
Sarah and Sasha took their bows and silenced them from the shadows before they rushed the warehouse doors, wraiths flooding the streets behind them moving quickly into the shadows of the building.
The Twins entered the warehouse, luckily there were no more guards, but what was in front of them was shocking. There were only female elves here, each one pregnant and all near the same stage of their pregnancies.
Sasha went to the nearest elf, she looked as if she had fight left in her eyes as she flinched away from her touch, " It is alright, we are your kin, we have come for you and the others." she held both her hands up and took away her mask and hood, revealing her elven appearance.
The pregnant elf let out a sob and her face held such sorrow Sasha pulled her into an embrace.
"Easy sister, what happened here, why are you all pregnant? There is no way they would allow your population to grow so fast as to have you all give birth like this, I a.s.sume the others that were taken away are like you. Our Master will need to know what is going on here, please tell me it will be over soon I promise."
Sasha lifted up a flask of her masters' liquor to the girl's mouth, she had taken it from his desk when he was busy with her sister, the girl took a sip and her body s.h.i.+vered at the cold and sharp feeling that went through her.
Looking up at Sasha, there was no clarity in her eyes, something that she lacked for a very long time, she took another mouthful before clearing her throat.
"They either have our men mate with us or they do it themselves, but your right, they don't allow us to keep our young. There is a wizard here who uses magic to make sure we get pregnant, and then they." She sobbed before finis.h.i.+ng, tears streamed down her face with sorrow and anger replacing one another.

To slave traders that come through here once a year, they take our young down the river and that is the last we see of them." the young elf broke down into Sasha's arms, Sasha did her best to calm her while Sarah wrote down a report and gave it to a crow who flew to the east.
Sasha whispered into the young elfs ear, "Don't worry, we will find them, and we will make these sc.u.m pay dearly for touching our kin!" the last was half a snarl as rage made her sapphire eyes burn bright in the dark.
Salem sat in the middle of a clearing, it looked as if the earth had ruptured with fire and ice, trees and rocks had been thrown about destroying all plants and animals with thirty yards of him. In his hands were three reports.
The first two were similar, describing what his girls had found, the third was confirmation they had been successful in retrieving their kin. There was an injury on his side, during the evacuation a crossbowman let an arrow fly right before his death, and by sheer luck, it shot Sarah in the shoulder.
The bolt didn't pierce the armor but it had fractured a rib, hearing how one of his girls had been shot while he was away frustrated him even further.
This was the final straw, he got up and headed back to his city, he didn't need help from the undead. That would just risk the lives of his people to an ally he couldn't even trust, might as well do it his way.
When he got back to the palace he hurried to check in with Sarah and helping her heal the wounds, with Railias' help it would only be a few days before she made a full recovery. After he finished on making sure that she was fine he sat and talked with the other girls.
They proposed to incorporate the females into his guards, which shocked him slightly, Jennah had spoken with the other personal guards and they were sorely lacking in numbers. With the addition of just the females that were mentally stable, there would be an additional two hundred guards, which for his station as the leader of a city was lacking with just twenty-two guards.
He nodded and told them to begin having them enter the nouris.h.i.+ng baths, they were three months shy of giving birth and he would make sure their bodies were healed and in peak condition before they went through the ordeal.
He ordered for his own baths to be prepared, he added a tiny amount of the queen powder and experienced a new flavor of h.e.l.l. for two weeks he adjusted his body to more and more of the mixture of hatchling powder and queen powder. He was at eight parts hatchling and two parts queen, he was very close to a breakthrough in his body nourishment.
With him meditating with soul energy and using the wraiths language he was advancing quickly to tier four, though his body was far ahead with plenty of materials to push him to tier six. With a thought, he looked at his stats page to look over his progress.
