Radley still had Erina and Darnell to check up on but decided against it. Though Darnell did turn over a new leave he still wasn't happy with the man. Erina, on the other hand, was a mystery. She clearly wished him dead, yet she wants to make friends with him?

Something was up with her, and he rather not stand around to find out. That said, he still needed some preserved food for the road. The problem was his backpack. The previous meat he smoked he had to throw out. It was starting to smell and he wasn't going to take chance with diseases. He wasn't too sure if his toxin detection was able to detect a bad case of bacteria. His backpack wasn't all that large, so he could only get so much food.

He looked around the food market when he came across an interesting stall. It specifically catered for the road. Water bottles for sale and even a carry-on for a water bottle. The bottle and carry-on cost him seventy-five dollars. He decided to buy it. There was an old friendly elder lady tending the stall. She didn't even have a level. He gave her the money and spotted something that was interesting MRE. Meals, Ready-to-eat, but he saw the price tag and nearly got a heart attack. Five hundred dollars for a pack of twelve! He reluctantly handed over the money. He hoped this would last until the next city. He saw a survival water filter but the cheapest one cost seven hundred and fifty dollars. He sighed deeply. He only had one hundred and five dollars left. He decided to by himself a flint and steel with a lighter. The flint and steel cost him twenty-five dollars while the lighter cost him five. He starting to get used to the outlandish prices of things. He nearly forgot to by something simple. A pot. A small one at least. Apparently, the only one they had was an industrial pot which was really expensive at fifty dollars. His down to twenty-five dollars. Man, no matter where he went money seemed to be a crux of his problems. He will probably need to figure out some other way to make money. He asked the lady where the closest and easiest exit was.

She told him he should walk along the edge until he found one of the Five Arches. It was an easy path down from there.

Radley neatly unboxed the MRE and packed them into his bag He neatly stacked everything else in the bag. He was now ready to leave, but he had no real direction to go too. Then he remembered the story about the sign. Perhaps the system could decipher it. Probably, it was inherently not the most versatile of systems. A popup appeared. New quest: Find the original Sign of Arcana.

Diff chimed up, "Due to the distance needed to be covered a secondary quest will also be implemented."

A new popup appeared New Secondary quest: Find the nearest town.

Diff chimed up again, "Should I prioritize the secondary quest?"

Radley nodded, "Go ahead." A popup arrow showed up.

He made his way to the edge when he found the arch the old lady was talking about. He hoped it wasn't a stupid vine. He was rather tired of seeing that. When he got there he saw something that boggled his mind. It was a vine, but this was no ordinary vine. It twined into each other making a spiral downwards. What made this vine stand out from the others was its sheer size. It was thick and big enough for a person to comfortably walk down or upwards on. Radley smiled and started to make his way down. He had to be careful the incline was rather steep. Even though there were supporting chains it was still difficult to make his way down.

After a while, he was below the cloud line. The last time he was here it was raining pretty heavily, it all but subsided. Even the water level had gone down. Where all that water went was a mystery. An old man was coming up the vine when he had to pa.s.s by Radley. The old man gave him one look and stopped Radley. Radley did a quick scan. Marcell, lv.14 Calm nature.

"Son, I can tell that you are still young. It isn't a good idea to head into the forest right after the rains. The mist will settle in and make life a living h.e.l.l for you. First visibility becomes poor. Even with the bioluminescence, it's difficult to navigate. And to boot, there is a highly unique array of ambush predators that fights with long-range.

Radley nodded, 'I understand, but I have no real choice."

"Everyone has a choice, lad. It is your choice after all, so I won't stop you, but be aware that you were warned." He went on past him. While Radley did take his warning to heart, he didn't have the money.

After a while, he placed his feet on the ground. The next phase has officially started. It was still early day, so he could cover a fair amount of ground.

He made his way through the thicket using his axe to chop down the heaviest of the thicket. It tired him out surprisingly fast as he noticed his stamina bar was halfway. He sat down somewhere on the root of a tree. There he took out on of the MRE to check the contents. He found something called: Dairy fruit mix. He poured the contents into his pot and added water. It turned out to be rather good. He rested for a bit waiting for his stamina to regain. After he was done he started packing up, but then his body instinctively reacted to something. He twisted and caught something out of the air. Radley was amazed by his upgraded ability.

He examined the spine in his hand. It was serrated on the one side. This meant that it was meant to cause as much as possible damage.

He looked around to see if his basic a.n.a.lysis could pick it up. Nothing, "Diff, can you spot it?"

"Negative. Target seems to be out of sight. Upgrade the basic a.n.a.lysis ability to scan for hidden targets."

Great another upgrade. Now what?
