He first started off by finding a secluded spot close to the edge of the ma.s.sive floating rock. He removed the twine in his clothes and started cleaning it. He did exactly what the girl told him. After he rubbed in the tanning solution he sat on the edge looking down. This world looks so beautiful yet when one actually try and appreciate it, it goes to s.h.i.+t. This world made him think of a story, stuff he heard as a kid. His dad was a religious man and spoke about a place called purgatory. It would have made more sense, so why Arcana. Was it derived from the word Arcane? He decided to ask Diff about it.

"Information about Arcana unknown. The name was written in a symbol on a plague when humans first settled here. It looked like the word Aarcaana. It was believed to be a message but a language that was considered unknown. People on this world decided to call it Arcana as a result."

A popup appeared showing how the symbols looked like: ʌʌɽЖʌʌתʌ.

Radley scratched his head, "Do you have a method to translate that?"

"Method to translate an unknown. More symbols required."

He rubbed his chin for a bit. So, it was possible. At least he had a starting point. The system seemed hopelessly out of information about the continent. He laid backwards and closed his eyes. Probably not a bad idea to get some rest.

"Hey exhibitionist, don't you think it a bit messed up to do this kind of c.r.a.p?!"

Radley lazily turned his head and looked at the direction of the voice.

A young suave-looking black man stood a bit away, lv: 1, Darnell, Ostentatious nature. "And what is that smell, man!? Good lord, you are never going to pick up them harlots with a smell like that!"

Radley lazily pointed to his drying gear. He found the man annoyingly loud, "Trying to get some rest here, if you don't mind keeping it down a bit."

"Ah man, why would I do that!? The name's Darnell and level one. What's yours?"

"Radley, level one."

"Ah sweet man. You going to the compo?"

"Compo?"

"Compet.i.tion, get with the anagrams, man."

"Yeah, I guess. Do you know when it will start?"

"Tomorrow, if you want to be a part of it you better sign up! The deadline is the afternoon!"

"When is this deadline exactly?"

"Mmm, I think they said around six."

"I don't have time on me. How long would that be more or less."

Darnell did have a watch on his wrist, "You have a little over six hours."

Radley nodded, "Thanks."

"I would make the suggestion that you don't compete. You don't look like the type to have a sponsor."

"Why would I have a sponsor?"

"Sponsors are needed to get you going. You seem to be lacking a lot of gear."

"I'll be fine."

"Man, I'll be fine. You'll be f.u.c.ked, especially if you have to go up against me. I have some really decent sponsors."

d.a.m.n, the whole process took longer than he wanted. Most of the day was gone and he wasn't too sure he did a good job. He will probably need the help of professionals to get it properly treated.

He falls backwards and tried to sleep again. Darnell saw the man wasn't too worried, "Whatever, man. You will see yourself lose in the compet.i.tion, by my hand." And with that he left.

He rested for about two hours when he decided to put his gear back on after a final wash. Time was a problem. If he wanted to compete in the compet.i.tion he will need to hurry up.

He made his way back and made a beeline towards the market. He saw the girl and gave the bucket back. He didn't smell as bad as before but his gear was still smelling some.

Afterwards he made his way towards the building so that he could register himself. A formal lady sat there in a formal business attire. She didn't even have a level, which meant he couldn't getting any info from her.

She pulled her face a bit as soon as Radley got closer, "That's a bit of a smell you got there."

"Yeah sorry. I just need to register for tomorrow's Compet.i.tion."

"We need to verify your level and what gear would you be bringing."

"What I am currently wearing and my weapon would be this knife."

"That is a pocket knife…"

"I am well aware."

"Okay, your funeral. Jerry We have a new applicant."

A woman in her late twenties came to the desk from the backroom. Lv. 15 Jerry Serious by nature.

She walked up to Radley, "Hand please."

Radley obliged. She made a quick p.r.i.c.k and smelled his blood, "Yip, he is a level one."

She turned towards Radley, "You are well aware of the implications of competing in this compet.i.tion? While murdering your opponent is prohibited, you will still be fighting with dangerous weapons, Accident do happen."

Radley nodded. She left and went back to the backroom. The other lady spoke up, "That will be one hundred dollars."

Radley nodded and paid up, the lady continued, "Also you will have to sign this waver. You hereby acknowledge that any and all responsibility for your own death or dismemberment will be your own responsibility though you are ent.i.tled to medical care during the compet.i.tion. You will receive three thousand dollars only if you end up being the final victor. You will have to go through a preliminary elimination round. Only the top sixteen will go through. Do you agree to all this?"

Radley nodded, she continued, "Okay, so what will be your call sign during the compet.i.tion?"

Radley wasn't expecting a question like that. He scratched the back of his head, "A name? Call me…I don't know…call me 'Who's That'."

"Seriously? I am afraid we can't use that call sign, it will cause too much confusion."

Radley sighed deeply, "Do I really have to give one?"

"Yes, it will keep you anonymous."

"Yet my face will be revealed."

"That is of your own volition, not ours. So, what will be your call sign and please give it some thought."

"The Loner."

"You will be stuck with that name."

"It's fine."

"Okay, welcome 'The Loner'. The compet.i.tion starts tomorrow."
