Hidden Hallows 34 A Gift Or A Threat?

I frown and slowly follow him in but what I see has me freezing. The door behind me shuts, instantly blocking out the loud music and turning it into a dull thud when the ba.s.s. .h.i.ts. Kneeling on the floor in chains is a man with silvery-white hair.

When he looks up, his silver eyes lock onto me with surprise matching my own. Ambrose smirks and walks to the side and says "You want to know why Snow Leopards were so easily hunted down? Their colors stand out like a big flas.h.i.+ng sign. This guy here was caught in a fight with my vampires uptown. He would have killed them all if I had not shown up. To think... I've now run into two Snow Leopards in less than two weeks."

He walks until he's right behind the male Snow Leopard and turns to me before saying "I was going to kill him until I thought of you. Should I kill him or should I give him to you as a... gift?" He smirks at me with a knowing look as I look back down to the man kneeling before me.

He was still looking me over in shock, completely ignoring the powerful vampire behind him. I try to conceal my shock and ask "Is this really a gift or it is a... threat?" Ambrose laughs outright and says "I really do like you Eris and want to be good friends with you so it's a gift."

I sigh and say "But a gift with strings attached, right? What do you want in exchange for the 'gift'?" Ambrose's smile turns cunning as he says "This is why I like you so much, Eris. You understand me so well. Just a night with me is all I ask and... a taste of your blood."

The male Snow Leopard growls and says "Just kill me Vampire and have my blood. Leave the woman out of this." Ambrose and I ignore the s.h.i.+fter as I say "Deal, but just a taste. Nothing more." Ambrose's smile turns brilliant as he says "As you say. Since you'll be busy tonight, I'll see you tomorrow night."

I grit my teeth and nod, watching as the attractive Vampire leaves the room with a winning smile. He hands me a key and leaves with a wink, further irritating me. When Ambrose shuts the door, I look back over to the male s.h.i.+fter who's currently glaring at the door.

I step closer and say "I accepted his gift so if I unlock these, you can't go out there and make a scene. If you do, I still have to keep my end of the bargain. No matter what." The man looks up to me with gritted teeth but nods his head and says "I won't cause any more problems for you, you have my word."

I nod and slowly walk over. I then begin unlocking the chains as the male s.h.i.+fter watches me closely. "Why don't you seem too shocked to see another Snow Leopard?" He suddenly asks making me pause. I slowly turn to look at him before saying "Because I know that I'm not the only one left."

He watches me closely, his silver eyes taking in my face and hair as I continue unlocking his chains. Once done, I go to stand up but the male grabs my arm and pulls me to him in a powerful tug. He rips the charm off my neck and brings my inner wrist up to his nose, taking a deep breath before snapping his head to me in shock.

I look at him in confusion and try to pull my arm back but he tightens his grip and asks "You... what... what are you?" I know I could blast his a.s.s with magic but he's not actually hurting me, just making me uncomfortable.

"Let go," I say with a dry look but he only slowly stands, taking my arm with him as he looks over me in awe. I try to pull away again when he says "Just stop or you might hurt yourself." He then shocks me when he pulls me closer and reaches behind me.

He quickly pulls back and holds my cell in his hand. He then begins dialing a number making me panic. "Wait... are you calling someone to come get you?" I ask but he just ignores my question as he continues to stare at me.

I try to grab the phone from him but he's fast, much taller and stronger. "Do not tell whoever you're calling about me! Got it? Or I will fry your a.s.s!" I hiss out in anger but he just continues staring at me. I hear a faint voice on the other end answer and judging by the sound, it's another male.

"I need you to answer me quickly and honestly. Could you have any other children?" I freeze at the question and look to the man before me again but with a growing sense of unease. The voice on the other end is quiet before saying something but I can't make it out.

The man holding me grits his teeth as he says "I have a female Snow Leopard that's also half-witch... ring any bells?" I hear the voice on the other end suck in and that's all it takes for me to high tail it. I send an electrical pulse out and watch the male s.h.i.+fter release me.

I catch my falling phone and use my magic to open the door. I nearly hit the wall in the hall as I run out of the room before running highspeed through the club. As I reach the packed part of the club, I have to ease and squeeze my way through the crowd.

When I make the mistake of looking behind me, I lock eyes onto a pair of glowing silver eyes! I turn and start pus.h.i.+ng through the crowd, no longer caring if I'm rude or not. I'm not entirely sure why he was asking those questions but I didn't want to find out. Either he knows my father or he just told a random guy what I am... neither one was good in my book!
