"We should almost be at the end of the forest," Ekon says leading the way.
The sky was already starting to darken, it felt like it was slowly approaching night. Even though I wouldn't be opposed to being outside for another night, I'd had enough of having to keep awake to fend off the low tier monsters that wanted to raid our campsite.
They'd have trash skills to… I got nothing worthwhile from eating them.
Leaning back as I walk, I continue to look at the slowly darkening sky. It was simply beautiful, and I couldn't wait for this day to be over, it would be another day closer to my chance to step into the role of an adventurer.
It would soon be the day to get my cla.s.s!
"We haven't talked about it recently, but what's everyone's level?" Silvyr asks, breaking the silence that we had.
"Cecily's level twenty!" Cecily says with a smile
"Twenty-Four," Ekons says with a nod.
"Twenty-Seven," Silvyr says and they all look towards me.
"Thirty," I say softly.
"Gosh, still a monster even to this day, not many could claim to be such a high level at age eight," Ekon says shaking his head.
"You're one to talk both you and Cecily are monsters in your own right," I laugh softly.
These d.a.m.n G.o.ds and G.o.ddesses had given me too much, I had the triple experience booster, which was already a cheat in its own right. Combined that with my level of work ethic and my friend's drive to keep up with me, and you had a leveling nightmare.
"That's true, most humans aren't able to keep up with other races in terms of level pacing," Silvyr's says with a thoughtful look. His white eyes look at Cecily and Ekon like they're abnormal.
But I will say that they're both a bit abnormal. Even in all the books, I've read they're really haven't been any human children that have leveled up as fast as them. Could it be the fact that they've been with me and Silvyr?
Are we in some way pus.h.i.+ng them forward faster than normal? It was surely a possibility…
"Cecily doesn't care if we're strange, as long as we can stay together it doesn't matter!" Cecily says firmly shooting a glare at the boys, she bounces forward and grabs my arm and hugs me close.
Her cute and soft hair tickling my arm and hand as she presses closer to me.
Ah, she was adorable!
"My lil sister is right, we don't really need to apply the normal logic to this situation," Ekon laughs rubbing his head as he closes his eyes as he smiles.
He was a complete sis-con!
"Look we're at the entrance to the forest!" Silvyr says excitedly, as he runs ahead, and we all follow suit.
Soon the stifling forest is behind us and we're on a paved road, a little way ahead is the city. The road was a little crowded with people that are flowing towards the city walls.
All sorts of races and individuals from all professions are heading forward. As we made our way forward, I saw a lot of merchants and their convoys guarded by adventures, and then there are lone adventurers.
Outside of that, there are plenty of people that are walking forward with their families.
Out of the corner of my eye, I even saw an extravagant carriage being pulled by a beautiful beast. Completely surrounding the carriage are a mult.i.tude of guards bearing a sigil. The sigil had the elegant design of a tiger, holding a doc.u.ment and with it's other pawed hand a pen.
"Appraisal," I mutter looking closely at the carriage and the sigil that they all are bearing. I don't remember my mother mentioning anything about someone important visiting us anytime soon.
Or maybe, I just hadn't been paying close enough attention, I'd been completely absorbed in sword training and other combat styles with my brothers. It's not as if my mother expected me to pay attention to all the dignitaries that we had over, either way, I was hardly around for that type of discussion.
At the dismay of Salem, I'd become a fighting maniac a bit.
「The Sigil belongs to the merchant family of Vaziel, they belong to the Beast Race. They are a Tiger Beast Man family. The sigil modeled after the late monarch of the family, that brought glory to his family through the merchant trade, Hisa Vaziel. 」
Are they here to perhaps trade with my Father?
Casting them one last glance, I decide that I'll ask someone about it once I get home. Keeping up with my friends, we quickly make it to the line where everyone was trying to fold into the city though.
Smiling, I step out of line with my friends and walk towards the guards. My family employed all the guards that keep watch and allow people in and out of the city.
A guard dressed in a full set of metal armor; through his armor, I can see glowing blue eyes. His eyes scan over the crowd, and soon they fall on me as I walk towards me. His stiffens and then quickly bends the waist and gives me a bow.
"Welcome back Young Miss and Young Miss's Friends. Please head in," he says looking up and stepping to the side to let us through the gate.
"Thank you," I tell him with a warm smile, my fangs peeking out.
"Those kids are lucky," someone grumbles from the line.
"Hus.h.!.+ That's the Daughter of Governance Astley," another person growls.
Soon I couldn't hear the whispering voices.
Walking through the path we enter into the city. The loud and lively sound of the city crashes into my ears, and I smile. It was always busy like this during the day and especially at night. It was a dungeon town, most of the people here are adventures, craftsmen, merchants or diplomats.
Considering that this is the last dungeon city, within the Vampire's territory. All the other towers are unclaimed and just waiting for someone to conquer them. It was also popular because, there was a dungeon tunnel, that wasn't too far from here.
A lot of races wanted to have a place to set up base, and my mother city was a perfect spot. Most races wanted to try and get a permit to live here and set up traveling warps. Traveling warps can connect two places together, through s.p.a.ce and time.
That was the reason why Silvyr parents were here in the first place. They represented the High Elves as their diplomats. Cecily and Ekon's parents had actually left last year, the two of them currently stay at my house with me and my family.
After Cecily and Ekon had made of their mind that they planned to stay here, their parents had respected their wishes and let them do as they please. Of course, they kept in regular contact with their parents, and my parents had offered to be their guardians while they were away from their parents.
It wasn't odd that they'd left their children, nomads would move around it was already amazing that they'd stayed at our city for two whole years. Nomads almost never stay in a place that long.
"Come on, Hollis, stop daydreaming. We've still got to go to the Guildhall," Ekon says as they all look back at me.
I didn't realize that I'd stopped walking.
"Sorry, I'm coming," I say jogging to catch up to them.
Soon we're in front of the dungeon tower, at the base of the tower a beautiful staircase lead into it. The Dungeon Towers, no one knew who constructed them, they're apparently naturally occurring structures.
They're long cylinders that reach upwards into the sky, they're similar to beacons. No windows or opening are along the whole of the tower, it was completely closed, the only way in was through the base of the tower.
It was as if it'd been completely constructed from one long stone. Although it was simplistic in design, it was impressive and awe-inspiring.
A lot of different adventurers are hanging out on the steps of the guildhall. They're all dressed in some form of armor, or casual clothing if they're meetings up with their party members or friends.
With quick steps, we climb the stairs and arrive at the front doors. They easily slide back, and we head into the main floor of the tower, which also doubled as the Guildhall.
Tables that are full of people are all over this first floor, and there are multiple counters that are labeled with different signs. It was a rowdy place, but it was also extremely warm and cozy.
Making our way forward we reach the receptionist desk.
"Oh, if it isn't the little Miss Hollis," an all too familiar voice chirps from the desk.
"h.e.l.lo Vissi. Glad to see that your still your chipper self," I laugh.
