Kylie was speechless; she didn't know why he would think she was responsible. She took a stick that she found on the ground, and started drawing circles. "Don't try to blame me for this."
She had only been at home for less than half of an hour before she had had to leave to play her scenes. She wouldn't have had time to make him angry!
The only thing she could think of was in relation to that secret room. Was he mad at her because she didn't go in?
It couldn't be!
When she'd wanted to see what was inside, he hadn't been happy. But then when she hadn't wanted to see, he still hadn't been happy…
But he never said anything.
"It's all because of you! The big boss has let 30% of the Century Group staff go home. And now hundreds of families can't pay their debts, and don't have the money to raise their children…'
She was totally speechless.
How did it have anything to do with her? Should the whole world blame her for farting, because it may lead to the destruction of the earth?"
It was no use talking to her, even if Century Group went bankrupt!
She was not the big boss!
She wrote "WTF" ten times on the ground with her stick. Then a WhatsApp message came in.
They were two photos sent by Nate Ba.s.s. One showed a lot of people waiting in a line and taking off their working ID cards. The other photo was much more terrifying. It was just complete darkness.
After looking at that photo for a long time, she found that there was something in the darkness. There sat Ethan Parker, wearing a suit and tie.
His eyes were colder than all the glaciers in the South Pole combined.
She could even feel the iciness through the screen. She couldn't stop her body from shaking.
No one could enter the big boss's heart. But how was that relevant to her? Why had Nate called her?
Could she make a difference?
She wanted to hang up the phone, but she was still holding onto a little bit of hope in her heart…
WTF. She really thought that she could get special treatment from that man?
Suddenly another message was coming in from Nate Ba.s.s. This one was an audio file.
She opened it, her hands shaking.
"Nate Ba.s.s, if you can't give me a proper business proposal in five minutes, I will send you to South Africa for fieldwork."
She dropped her phone immediately.
It was Ethan Parker's voice!
Even if she couldn't actually see his face, she still knew how terrifying his face would have been judging from that voice. Not only did he sound cold, but his tone was extremely sharp.
It was hard to imagine that he could talk like that to a good friend. It sounded like he was fighting off an enemy.
She knew nothing about administrative paperwork. But apparently, judging from his voice, it must be very difficult for someone to come up with a proposal in five minutes.
What should she do?! He was really p.i.s.sed.
Kylie tried to bring together all her wisdom:
Ignore him? Maybe Lord Nate would do better in Africa.
Threaten him? But apparently, he was more threatening than she was.
Get it done once and for all? But she couldn't kill him…
The stick broke in her hands, and her eyes lit up. "Distract him!"
She touched her chest to calm herself down, then dialed his phone number.

At the Century Centre, everyone was so nervous in front of him. All the high-ranking leaders could only stare at the screen. He was having a video conference with the representatives of all thirty-two subsidiaries.
A sales manager had made a mistake with the sales data. And now he was waiting for the big boss to punish him.
But Ethan Parker's face might as well have been covered in ink. No one could see his eyes.
The sales manager was getting more and more nervous, and his face was ashen. If the boss told him to p.i.s.s off, he would have no choice other than jump off the top of the building.
When he thought his heart couldn't bear it any longer, a phone started ringing in the conference room.
Everyone looked in one direction.
There were two phones next to Ethan Parker, and one of them was ringing.
The grey one was his private phone. He answered it without any trace of emotion.
"Hey, Ethan, what are you doing?" She knew the answer but asked him anyway.
"I am having a meeting." His eyes didn't change, and he sounded cold.
"Okay… Are there many people with you?" Kylie had to find something to continue the conversation.
He turned his head to look at his secretary and asked with a cold voice: "How many people are at the meeting?"
The secretary was surprised and looked at the data. "Including the ones on the line, there are one-hundred and thirty-three."
"A hundred and thirty-three," he repeated to the woman on the phone.
Wait a minute. Everyone was shocked. Who was the boss reporting to?
Nate Ba.s.s was delighted when he heard this. It's like there were suddenly thousands of blooming flowers in the room, and the air was immensely different.
All these people couldn't compare with his girl.
But Kylie, on the other end of the line, could still feel his coldness. She felt as though her hair was going numb.
"Uh…Do you have some free time now?" she asked carefully.
"No," the man said, emotionlessly. It sounded like he was about to hang up the phone.
Nate Ba.s.s stood up nervously, but when he was about to say something, Ethan Parker looked at him angrily. He could do nothing but sit down and keep writing the proposal.
Can't Kylie Finch solve this crisis?
The apocalypse was really coming!
Kylie really wanted to hang up the phone. Lord Nate, I can't help you, she thought.
But she didn't give up so easily. She hesitated for a moment, then said: "I just finished my work here. Can you go shopping with me?"
He held the phone closer and stood up. Then he walked towards the hall, with still no hint of emotion on his face.
All the people sitting there, including the others on the line, saw the big boss's back and took a deep breath. But it was too early to tell what was going to happen.
In a minute, he was back.
He grabbed his other phone, which was still on the table, and said coldly: "The meeting is over."
