CHAPTER 2

BEAUTY MEETS THE BEAST

The next day, Alice walked beside her room mate since they have the same cla.s.s schedule. With the students looking at her up and down she felt uncomfortable that she slid her arm to Chloe's hand. The cheerleader smiled at her, eyes brightening while they walk arm in arm at the academic's hallway.

"With all the guys' staring at you I bet you would be melted before the day ends." She giggled.

Alice snorted. "What do you mean?"

"I did not realize that you have such a perfect figure. Your black hair even complements your white skin. I'm so jealous." She giggled again.

Alice is wearing the school uniform. The black blazer hugs her body that it accentuates her figure, and the pleated black skirt is too short for her liking. The guy's who has been staring at her made the girls gawked and roll their eyes in the process. Alice is making the academy in a frenzy on her first day, not to mention that she has a cheerleader friend smiling at her side.

"I don't understand them." She murmured. "Is this their first time seeing a transferee?"

"It's not about the 'transferee' thing, it's about you being a guy killer."

"What? I don't like that."

"Tell me, were you popular in your previous school?" Chloe asked, wiggling her eyebrows.

She flinched. "No. I am not popular."

"Really? With that beautiful face and supermodel figure?" They entered their cla.s.sroom, the students are slowly filling it. "I think you are popular and you're just denying it."

The two of them both take their seats at the middle. Chloe continued talking to her while she let her mind wander into nothingness. Not listening to any of her chatters about being popular and pretty and blah, blah, blah. Resting her chin on her palm she just gazed around the room where her cla.s.smates continued glancing back and forth at her. Closing her eyes to temporarily shut the world around, someone tap at her shoulder before she could even do it.

Tilting her head side she came face to face with a guy of blue eyes with brown shades of hair.

He smiled at her. "Hi, I'm Phillip." The guy's a charmer. Alice thought while gazing back at him.

"I'm Alice." The cla.s.sroom went dead silent. "And nice to meet you."

"Likewise." Phillip grinned, taking a seat beside her.

If the room is silent a while ago, now the girls that just recovered from their shock gawked at them. Phillip is the captain of Ravenlan basketball team. A guy next door. Ideal guy. Girls also calls him as the prince charming of Ravenlan. He is known as a friendly, approachable person, but he was never the first one to approach a girl and introduce his self, making his fan club envy of the new girl.

"Phillip, how's the practice?" Chloe asked.

"We're gonna rest for a while. The team's exhausted and nervous for the champions.h.i.+p game." He replied. "We need a break."

The cla.s.s went smoothly with Alice introducing herself at the front, and the guy's asking for her status and phone number. She is thankful that their history professor Mr Tyler shut them up, and also, because she already knew the lesson they were tackling about, and won't be left behind.

Chloe is quiet during cla.s.s, jotting down important notes as she listened intently, while Phillip never stops whispering with his friends from behind.

"That would be all for today." Mr Tyler announced. "Make an essay about today's lesson for your tomorrow's a.s.signment. Goodbye."

"Are you catching up with the lesson?" Chloe asked.

"Yes. We already tackle that in my previous school." She answered, putting back her pad on her backpack Phillip bid his goodbye at them before sprinting outside, his fanclub following behind.

"I didn't know Phillip's a hearthrob."

"He is a basketball team captain, some of the girls are head over heels on him."

They head outside their room, talking about the history lesson. Alice is too busy looking around, checking every faces as she memorized them.

"The academy is peaceful." She mumbled.

"Ow. It's only peaceful because Eros is back." Chloe said in a low voice.

"Who's that?"

She leaned at her while they walk down the hallway.

"Eros Ziegler is the most popular guy here. He is so hot and girls drool over him." She flinched when Chloe giggled at her ears. "Anyone would sell their soul just to have the chance to touch him, oh em gee..."

"Where's the peace in that?" She whispered back, thinking why having another popular hot guy will set the academy at peace.

"I forgot. There are rumors that Eros family is involved in mafia and he is the boss himself. Not to mention everyone here is afraid of him at the same time fantasize his gorgeous body!"

"I think you're fangirling."

"I am not even finish yet. When you see him, step aside, make way for him, do not touch him or talk to him. Do NOT cross path with Eros Ziegler because he is really rude and a heartless man. He beated one of the bullies to death for trying to pick a fight."

Alice nodded and was about to ask something when she collided with someone, falling b.u.t.t-first. Flinching because of the pain she was oblivious of the gasps from her surrounding. Her b.u.t.t hurts and her friend did not even dare to help.

"Oh my G.o.d." She heard Chloe mumbling curses. "This is not so good."

Standing up, annoyed, she studied the cheerleader's pale face-- mouth hanging open and body stiffened, even the students around stopped from their tracks to watch them. Alice did not know what's happening so she averted her gaze to meet a pair of dark orbs.

Her annoyed expression dropped.

There are three guys in front of them, but the one in the middle is what got her attention the most, the one with the dark eyes that can drown anyone once they stared at it for too long. He is tall with a dark aura radiating from him, and the uniform fits him perfectly, all black-- resembling a dark prince. The guy gazed back at her with such intent in his eyes. The coldness in it froze her on the spot.

"Sorry, I didn't you see there." She murmured, not breaking eye contact.

"Alice..." Someone tugged at her sleeve. "Let's go."

"Eros, we should go." The other guy called.

Eros stares dropped a hundred degree celsius, his lips pursed while he studied the black haired girl in front of him, then there was a pregnant silent where no one made a single noise as if it is a crime to do so. It made everyone nervous, especially the cheerleader who forgot how to breathe. Alice and Eros, both stared at each other, but when Alice remembered to move again she hastily lowers her gaze.

"Let's go, Chloe." Before they can even move their feet, Eros started forward, walking at their middle and making both girls step aside.

He walked his way like a king where everyone lowers their gaze and no one dared to speak or touch him, except for the two guys walking beside him. His jaw clenching and unclenching as if the girl just ruined his day by b.u.mping into him at the hallway.

"Why are you staring at him?!" Chloe scolded when she was sure that the three hot guys were out of their range.

Alice looked at her with a nonchalant expression. "He stared at me."

"What?! You are staring back at him because he is staring at you?!" Her room mate ran her finger through her hair in frustration. "You're lucky he did not hurt you and he seems to be in a good mood, because if you caught him in a bad situation he could have punched you or carved your eyes out of your socket! Then you can never go home in one piece!"

"I never thought he was the one you were talking about, not until his friend called him."

"Now you know. The next time you saw him, avoid his gaze and don't let him know that you are drooling over him!" Chloe exclaimed, her voice turning into a high pitch. "It was the first time I looked at him that close! My squad will be jealous when I tell them about it!"

She sighed. "I thought you are afraid of him or are you torn between crus.h.i.+ng on him and fearing him?"

They both laughed and continue their way for their next cla.s.s, sprinting when the bell rang for the second time.
