What the h.e.l.l was happening? Lin Meirong wondered. Why did everyone go silent and was looking at her with disgust? The carefree atmosphere within the hall was suddenly replaced with an awkward and stilled silence which made her uncomfortable. 

She suddenly had a bad feeling about this. Even the emcee looked at her with a conflicted expression on his face. 

Was it pity or was it disgust? Lin Meirong wasn't sure herself. 

Lin Meirong felt like she was the only one who didn't know what was happening. As her eyes scanned the crowd, she saw Mu Jianyu looking at his phone, his face blanched with terror while Li Xiuying who was also checking her phone beside him had knitted brows. 

"I-I…" The words that she painfully tried to memorize for two days was instantly forgotten as she stood awkwardly on the stage. What was she supposed to do now? 

A man suddenly shouted from the audience area. His ident.i.ty was unknown, but many people heard him loud and clear. It seemed like he was stirring trouble within the a.s.sembly hall, adding fuel to the fire. 

"Lin Meirong, you s.l.u.t! You don't deserve that award!"

People started following his lead and voiced their opinions. 

"Get down from there, you b.i.t.c.h! You disgust us!" 

It was Lin Meirong's a.s.sistant who braved herself to run up and drag her down from the stage as the people started to curse and diss her. Lin Meirong had no time to react as she had no clue of what the h.e.l.l was happening to everyone. They stood in a corner but were still the center of everyone's attention. 

"What's happening?" She gripped her a.s.sistant's arm, who was clearly distraught over the sudden change in the atmosphere within the a.s.sembly hall. "Why are they suddenly cursing me? Why are they looking at me like that?" 

She, who was aware of her beauty and charm, wasn't used to receiving the ire of the people. Men were naturally attracted to her face and her body that not many can resist her charm. Although it was usual for the women to envy her, they never hated her to this extent!

"Heh, no wonder she got those roles and the award tonight. She slept her way to stardom!" 

"So it seems like she had slept with different men to secure the roles she got before. Yet, she's still acting like she's a meek and innocent woman! She's so disgusting," 

Fear shot through Lin Meirong as she continued to hear their voices. She gripped her a.s.sistant a little tighter and pulled her arm to get her attention. She didn't like being kept in the dark for too long and making a fool out of herself. She needed to know what the h.e.l.l was happening right now. 

"Tell me what's happening!" She yelled at her poor a.s.sistant who was already br.i.m.m.i.n.g in tears. 

"Miss Lin… you are all over the news…" Her a.s.sistant sniffed and tried to pull her arm from Lin Meirong's hold. 

Lin Meirong knitted her brows and released her poor a.s.sistant to fish her phone out. She was surprised to see that she was indeed on the hot search list and that every trending news was all about her.

She quickly opened one article with a headline of her name and saw several pictures of her being intimate with different men in different places. Some were prominent, well known producers and directors that she had worked with in previous productions. 

The scandal was all over the news and so many people were dragged into the issue with her. Just as Lin Meirong thought she saw enough, pictures and a s.e.x video of her with a married man started to circulate around social media, pus.h.i.+ng her deeper into her grave. 

The man in the pictures, of course she was able to recognize him immediately although none of the pictures caught a clear view of his face. 

These pictures made it clear that whoever took it had been stalking her and Mu Jianyu for the past month. Whoever did this surely had a good connection because each piece of news was all about her and the water armies were all out to destroy her! 

Her fingers swiped to see what the netizens were saying about her and her heart almost plummeted from the harsh words she was reading. 

'She doesn't deserve the award! Please give it back to my G.o.ddess Lan!'

Lin Meirong was barely able to breathe after she read it. Her stomach knotted as she helplessly tried to find her lover in the crowd only to see him leading Li Xiuying out of the a.s.sembly hall, clearly turning his back on her.

She stared at Li Xiuying's retreating form and her eyes were filled with jealousy. She always knew that Mu Jianyu's wife's face was comparable to an angel, that she could handle any style and could wear anything and would still manage to look beautiful and cla.s.sy. 

But she never cared about how huge the difference between them was until this moment, as her nails painfully dug into her skin. Mu Jianyu would still choose his wife, no matter how bad the situation is between them. 

His words resounded in her head. 

'Even if Ying found out, even if I have to kneel down and beg for her forgiveness, I will!'

Why? Why was this happening? Just when she thought that she could finally taste success and experience being on top, it was s.n.a.t.c.hed from her too soon. Meanwhile, Li Chuntao had forgotten her anxiety the moment she saw Lin Meirong's bewildered expression and Mu Jianyu's fear as soon as the scandal burst on social media. The hard work Su Ling had been putting in for the past month finally showed results. 

As to how she was able to completely destroy Lin Meirong's reputation, Li Chuntao had hired top computer experts and water armies to feed the rage of netizens to spite the actress. Wives of those men she had affairs with started to make a move. Even the other actresses were starting to relay their unfair experiences with Lin Meirong.
