"Johannes, I will now be leaving along with Baron. I hope that we can never cross paths again. You are quite the annoying b.a.s.t.a.r.d, and frankly quite a cruel one at that."
Johannes smiled as he said.
"I will take that as a compliment."
I rubbed my face. There was a limit to how annoying a person could be. But this man set that limit at infinity and unbounded.
"By the way Johannes. I understand that you may be a slave trader but could you stop with your false commitments and terrible treatment? They are people just like you and me so stop treating them as objects."
Johannes's smiled dropped as he frowned.
"I've been very compliant with your requests until now Mila, but once you start interfering with my business I will no longer be civil."
I glared.
What a son of a b.i.t.c.h!
"The fact that you call this a business is disgusting in itself Johannes. I don't expect an a.s.shole like you to change your twisted ways. But I implore you to lessen your las.h.i.+ng out at the pa.s.sengers due to your own insecurities. You never know what a person would do once pushed past their limits. You have seen it clearly that day when you came on my deck. I was pretty civil with you despite my rage. But would they be? Don't treat people in a way that you don't want to be treated."
Johannes looked at me thoughtfully before scratching his head and saying.
"Once more Mila, I will tell you to stay out of my business. A person like you, a woman no less could never understand the demand of business. All women are too sentimental, that's why you all can't handle business dealings."
I chuckled. This s.e.xist b.a.s.t.a.r.d was throwing the blame back at me because he doesn't want to face the reality of his actions.
"Johannes dear, there is a business which I would like to start. And I have yourself to thank for."
Johannes smiled as he said.
"Oh? And what might that business be?"
"A business which makes shark feed."
"Shark food? Why would a business like that be lucrative?"
"Its not materialistically lucrative but satisfying to the consciousness."
"How so Mila?"
I smirked as I looked back at a confused Johannes.
"Because it would rid the world of b.a.s.t.a.r.ds such as yourself."
Johannes's facial expressions flickered from understanding to fear to amus.e.m.e.nt. He then burst out into laughter as I glared.
What was so funny about what I had just said? I had just threatened this mother f.u.c.ker with death???
"Oh, my dear Mila, you are quite amusing. But let me politely remind you, that a weak little la.s.s such as yourself can not threaten me in such a way. I am the Duke of Ridgeway's son after all."'
Duke of Ridgeway? My mouth fell open as I looked at him. Of course! How could I have failed to realize it! This man was the great oppressor known to all with his spiteful and crazy personality, Johannes Estelle. How could I have not realized sooner? It was his tan skin that had confused me.
I cleared my throat and fixed my composure as I said.
"You are the son of the Duke of Ridgeway but I am the daughter of the Duke of Avalon. If you would like to compare power I believe that you are in the less."
Now it was Johannes's turn to open his mouth in shock. He quickly collected his composure before clearing his throat and said.
"Well. Forget t.i.tles, I think of you as a friend, my love. Are you sure that you don't want to join me and stay on my s.h.i.+p? I can a.s.sure you a fruitful life which I can prepare for you as my wife in the States. What do you say?"
I stifled my chuckle. What a roundabout way proposing to someone. It is both a threat and a compliment.
"Who are you calling a friend? I don't consider people who confine others and think of them as property as friends, let alone love interests. If that's all that you have to say then I will be leaving now. I hope that this is the last time that I see you. Goodbye."
I then walked towards the edge of the boat as I sniffled. Jesus Christ, I better not get sick after this rainfall. Suddenly I felt someone pull my arm and place a soft kiss on my cheek. My face flushed as Johannes's face stayed close to mine. He smiled as he said.
"That kiss was not a farewell, but a promise to meet you once again. Until the next time we meet, I will wait."
I pushed him away and rubbed my cheek. Anger filled me along with confusion.
Why is it disgusting when another person kisses me, but when Baron does it, my heart flutters?
I slapped my forehead. Now was not the time to question my feelings. I need to focus on the task at hand. The task of getting to the Bermuda Triangle as soon as possible. I've had enough of my trip to the past.
Suddenly Johannes doubled over as he coughed blood. A sharp dagger protruding from his shoulder. I looked to see a menacing Baron. His green eyes darkened with rage as he turned Johannes to face him. He then smirked and said.
"Why has an imbecile such as yourself dirtied my dear Mila's cheek with those filthy lips of yours? Should I remove them so that you can never kiss her again? Or should I pluck out those eyes of yours so that you can never see her again? Sc.u.m like you after all is not deserving of seeing her."
My skin crawled as the words uttered by Baron's mouth pierced me. Despite my fear, I thought that he was really cool at the moment. Johannes gulped as he chuckled and said.
"I apologize sir, if you have felt as if I have offended your wife, but she has the right to choose who she loves after all, isn't that right Mila?"
I glared at Johannes.
"Even if I were to love another person besides Baron, you would never even be on my candidate list Johannes. Take that dagger stab as a warning from me for you to never cross paths with me again. If that were to happen you will be losing more than just your blood."
Baron then extracted his dagger and wiped the blood on Johannes's white blouse. Johannes smirked as he sat on the deck holding his bleeding shoulder. I turned on my heel as Baron followed closely behind. Baron then smiled as he whispered in my ear.
"By the framework of your response, should I a.s.sume that you love me?"
I pushed Baron back as I felt my face flush. Jesus Christ, even the cool rain which fell couldn't seem to cool me down.
"Shut up Baron."
Baron chuckled as we walked to the edge of the s.h.i.+p together. I pouted as my heart beat quickened.
My feelings for Baron were starting to spiral out of control.
This truly was dangerous.
Dangerous indeed.
