Baron, Francisco, Francisca, and I unsheathed our weapons and had our backs to each other. Henry and his crew watched us with smiles on their scarred faces. I only had a dagger in my hand as my pistol had been previously compromised by Henry. I looked to see that it was past daybreak. The crew members should be waking up soon.

More of Henry's men began to jump on the deck. Confusion filled me.

Where the h.e.l.l were they all coming from?

I was too afraid to lean over the railing and get a sword impaled in my forehead. I truly felt afraid for the first time as this was my first pirate fight or "scuffle".

Henry cleared his throat before pointing both of his swords at us.

"Are you still not going to back down my dear?"

I shook my head. We can not afford to lose the small amount of food and money that we currently have now. It would be as if I was handing over our lives for a soul contract.

Henry's lips twisted upwards as he smiled in a way that would give children nightmares for days. Despite my fear, I was still fangirling. I mean this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get so close to such prominent historical figures. As a history buff this is ultimately my dream. I turned to see that Baron and the twins seemed unbothered by the fact that we were only four versus over fifty men.

The twins brandished their swords as they closed their eyes and stood in a way that would put action movies to shame. Francisca was slightly bent as she kept the sword at her right side like a spear. Francisco stood tall as he raised the sword above his head. Their sapphires for eyes sparkled as they opened them simultaneously. Time slowed as I watched them swing their swords in sync. With the way that they dodged the other's sword, and moved made it seem like a dance. Under the sun their eyes shone like the calm water below despite the blood which splashed against their faces and clothes. The swordsmans.h.i.+p that the twins had was out of this world. I watched them in awe, as they moved through the crowd of fifty men as if they were exterminating insects. Their swords glinted as the speed they used almost made the swords disappear. Henry watched them in shock as he fell to the deck of the s.h.i.+p trembling. Baron and I watched the twins as if we were a third party.

The twins glared as they pointed their swords at Henry's throat. Their eyes shone like that of predators. They licked their lips as the blood of their foes dripped down their clothes onto the red deck below. I covered my mouth as the metallic smell of blood filled my nose. Bodies were strewn all over the deck like sardines. These twins must be G.o.ds. Because I know no human who is able to cut down a crowd as quickly and efficiently as they had done. It was a bloodbath.

I smirked as Baron and I walked up to Henry. His pants were wet as the smell of urine filled my nose. Jesus Christ the great pirate f.u.c.king p.i.s.sed himself out of fear. I placed my hands-on Francisco and Francisca's shoulders. They seemed to snap out of their dazed state as they smiled at me gently. The ability to switch faces this quickly was quite impressing. I sighed and said to them.

"You did good my loves. Now let Captain Baron and I handle the rest."

They nodded as they bowed and stepped back. Henry looked up at me in fear. I smiled.

"Now, my dear Henry, who is it that won't see the light of tomorrow?"

Henry bowed and slammed his forehead on the deck.

"Please spare me and forgive me. I was talking all high and mighty when in fact I'm nothing but a simple vagabond. I will do anything that you ask of me so please spare me!"

I chuckled haughtily as I knelt and lifted Henry's face close to mine.

"Stop this embarra.s.sing behavior. Why are you apologizing? Take responsibility for your actions and keep the shred of dignity that you have as a pirate. I apologize for what we have done to your crew but I can a.s.sure you that none of them are dead but just injured."

Henry's eyes widened as he looked to see his crew members stand and curse at the different wounds on their bodies.

"You did not kill my men?"

I frowned. Who the f.u.c.k did this man think I was?

"Of course, we didn't kill your men. Despite the malice that they held when they attacked us, they are innocent. Instead of encouraging violence I am quite the pacifist."

Henry chuckled as he stood up. He then took my hand and kissed the top of it. I smiled.

"I thank you, Miss for your generosity. I will now take my men and get out of your hair."

I smiled then clasped Henry's hand. He winced as I crushed his hand.

"Where the f.u.c.k do you think you're going a.s.shole? You have injured my men, and dirtied my deck. You aren't leaving until we heal your men and you compensate me for the damage. If not, I could get my dear crew members to eradicate your a.s.ses and make you all walk the plank. Have I made myself clear, Sir Henry?"

Henry chuckled nervously as I released his crushed hand. He then nodded and said.

"Of course, my dear, I will compensate you. I thank you for the action of healing my men."

I nodded as Henry walked over to the railing and said.

"Atticus bring up my box."

Suddenly the sound of a rope being thrown on my s.h.i.+p sounded. A refined tall and lanky man appeared. He looked like he was something out of a Jane Austen novel. His black hair was slightly curled as it reached his shoulders. His steely blue eyes narrow as he squinted against the light. He was dressed in a black trench coat, white blouse, black slacks. And low heel black shoes. This man Atticus reminded me of a particular butler in an anime that I had watched in my previous life.

Atticus looked at me and bowed as a butler should before he pa.s.sed a small golden box to Henry. Henry then walked over to me and handed me a medium sized pouch. I opened it as my eyes widened. From my historical knowledge a doubloon was equivalent to a modern-day dollar. But even more precious were gems. Inside of the pouch was a collection of rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and other gems. I cleared my throat as I threw the pouch to Baron.

"I will accept this compensation Sir Henry, but I would like to confirm that these gems are real."

I opened the pouch and took out an emerald. I remembered a study done by Harvard University about validating if a gem is real. For a diamond it is a fog test of where one must blow on a diamond, If it turns foggy and dissipates right away then the diamond is real. For emeralds if you hold it up to the light and see the colors of the rainbow reflected then it is fake. I held up the emerald to the sunlight and closed my left eye. Instead of rainbow colors a sheer clear color was reflected.

I nodded. These emeralds were real.

Well, it looks like we don't have to worry about the funds to get food anytime soon.

"Are you satisfied my dear?"

I nodded at Henry's words as I looked down at his pants and said.

"I will be sure to get someone to provide you with new garments after your "incident"."

Henry blushed as he covered his groin area.

"I appreciate that. Also, how may I address my dear Miss?"

I smiled as I said.

"Captain Mila."

Baron smiled next to me as the twins watched me. Henry nodded as he shook my hand once more.

"I'm glad to meet such a dignified captain. You put other pirates such as myself to shame."

"Your flattery is much appreciate but unnecessary my good sir."

Henry burst into laughter as I walked towards the Spanish twins. I smiled as I took out a handkerchief from my coat pocket and wiped the blood off of the twins' faces. Despite their demeanor in reality they only looked to be the same age as me.

"I do not understand the circ.u.mstances of the two of you. But I would like to say for the record that if you would like to join my crew, the invitation is open. I will not treat the two of you as objects but instead as people. I want the two of you to join my family. What do you say?"

I reached out my hand. The twins looked at me with widened eyes before tears leaked out of the corners of their eyes. They then threw themselves on me and embraced me. I hugged them back as they sobbed. Despite the s.h.i.+tty nature of the old times, there was still good in it. As I live this second life as a pirate, I hope to become a pirate not known for my ruthlessness, but instead for my generosity and kindness. I smiled as the sun continued to s.h.i.+ne above. With the way that things were going, I have nothing to fear for the future.

Or so I thought.
